Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem’s Free Dining Extravaganza

Loving your reviews !
Tony's looks really good
Sounds like you had a really great trip :)

LOVE the Muppets!!!

Just have to get used to seeing more than just Kermit with legs!! :lmao:

:cool1:
This makes my second reading of a review from CBR today. I have been stalking the reviews for 3 months and hadn't seen one (everyone seems to stay at Pop or POR/POFQ with a few deluxe thrown in)

Thanks for the review :thumbsup2

That was done in my best Janice voice. Have you guys seen the new preview for the new Muppet movie? It looks great--can't wait!!!

Next time you're at Tony's, try the key lime pie dessert. Best. One. Ever.

We can't wait for the new Muppet movie!!! Looks incredible!! Next time we are at Tony's I will have to try the Key Lime Pie!:thumbsup2

Our first full day at Disney World!! Normally I would have pushed to head to Epcot- my absolute favorite!! However with Star Wars Weekends coming up we decided to head over to the Studios so that we could get most of our rides in early and enjoy SWW later in the week. After a quick cup of coffee sitting by the pool at CBR, we headed over to the studios. Gotta love having this as our breakfast table all week:

This was such an easy way to enjoy a few peaceful moments at our resort every morning. Each day we drove over and enjoyed some coffee and/or pastries at the tables by our pool. It was so relaxing and a way to soak up extra precious moments at Disney’s fantastic resorts that I would definitely recommend!! :goodvibes

The Chef and I are not huge breakfast eaters, so we did not get anything this morning. Later on in the week we had some delightful breakfast pastries at the CBR in the morning and I will have pictures to post. Anyway we had decided that a trip over to the Studios meant we were using our first snack credit for one thing…a Carrot Cake Cookie. After many reviews we’ve listened to by Mr. Lou Mongello, we were dying to finally try one.

Lots of pictures- you can tell I was excited to finally try one. It did not disappoint!! However it is less cookie and more giant carrot cake whoopie pie. These are huge and it was somewhat of a late snack so the Chef and I split one so we had room for lunch. I know, I know…again with the snack credit faux pas. Like I said we were still working on stretching out our appetites. However now I look back at these pictures and wish I had just sucked it up and eaten a whole one all by myself! DELICIOUS!!

After a busy morning at the Studios (new Star Tours is INCREDIBLE!!!!:3dglasses) we decided that we wanted to have some extra time at the pool so we headed back for our second lunch at Old Port Royale. A theme for this day in WDW for Janice and the Chef was getting the same meals. This time the chef and I each decided to enjoy our very first Disney World burger of the trip:

I love that these are on a whole grain roll. Makes me feel somewhat better for eating every single fry on the plate (and some of DH's as well :littleangel:)

We went with the same dessert as well. Since we are so incredibly sophisticated we went with....

Dirt cup. Love it. Something about this grabbed both of us right away. There was a TON of pudding in this cup. It was such a refreshing and cool dessert but sitting in my bathing suit stuffing myself with burgers, fries and pudding, I had to stop somewhere. I only ate about 1/4 of this. I did however manage to eat both gummy worms. :thumbsup2 Hit the spot and gave us plenty of energy to enjoy an afternoon of swimming!!

Next up: We head over to Epcot for dinner at Chef de France! :yay:

I've always wanted to try that carrot cake cookie!

That carrot cake cookie has been at the top of my 'snacks to try' list for quite some time. We are hitting DHS our very first morning so I can try one! Looks delicious!

Looking forward to Chefs. It is a favorite of DH and DS, but I have found it to be hit or miss for me ...

We also split the carrot cake cookie -- it was so rich. But that was my favorite snack of the whole trip.

Great reviews so far! I keep meaning to get an ADR for Tony's because its been so long since I've had a meal there and I love the ambiance. I guess I'll have to work it in for our next trip somehow!

After our dip in the pool we got cleaned up and headed over to Epcot to enjoy an evening in the World Showcase. We got there a bit early and headed straight for the UK for a brew.

283.jpg

After enjoying the UK and Canada a bit, we headed up a little early for our reservation at Chef de France. We checked in and waited about 10-15 minutes for our table. Ever since the Chef and I went on our honeymoon to Paris this past October we have been excited to get back to the France pavilion in Epcot and enjoy some more French food. One of the things I love about Chef de France is that it is one of the restaurants in Disney that allows you to get a Prix Fixe 3 course meal on the dining plan. We miss the good ole’ days of the dining plan when appetizers were included, so this is a great way to make that happen! Again sorry for the lack of variety, both the Chef and I were hungry for the same 3 course meal. We both started with the French onion soup:

298.jpg

This soup was really good, I really like the flavor. But as with every other time I order French onion soup, I can’t eat it all without feeling like I am going to run out of room for my entrée.

Next we each had Gratin de Macaroni for our entrees:

I love this dish here and I especially love ordering macaroni and cheese in a way that makes me feel less like I have the appetite of a 5 year old. :) I will never go here and ask the server for the macaroni and cheese, it will always be gratin de macaroni. This way I can hope to save face a little….;) My DH liked this dish, however he still says it was very heavy. He did not eat that much of his.

We both ended our French feast with the Profiteroles au Chocolat.

I have always gotten the Crème brulee here, which I have always thought was just OK. This dessert was AWESOME!! I was so happy that I got it and I think it was the only part of my 3 course meal that I actually ate all of. Delicious!!

Us at dinner! :goodvibes

I love this restaurant and love getting the three course meal only because I know that I would be so tempted to pay out of pocket for the soup if I didn’t, so it is a value for me. However it is a lot of food, especially when you get some of the heavier dishes. My only disappointment of the meal was that Remy was not out that night. However I was excited when we walked by later on in the week and saw him through the window. This is a picture I took of him through the window, however I wish I had more to share about our experience with him. If anyone has had gotten a chance to spend time with him, I would love to hear about it! We love Ratatouille!!

After one of the most incredible views of Illuminations we have ever had (in between Canada and Future World), we drove back to CBR and the Chef and I hung out at the Banana Cabana bar with a drink. Here are some real dark pictures of his Banana Cabana at the Banana Cabana. That is a mouthful!!

347.jpg

I treated myself to a glass of wine:

Sorry for the dark pictures, it was still a perfect end to a great night!!

Next Up: Our morning in Epcot: Snacks in Sunshine Seasons and Lunch in the World Showcase. Hoping to keep it coming and get this one up tonight too potentially! Stay tuned!! :woohoo:

Looking at those Chef de France pictures makes me wish I had gone to their bakery at some point during our trip.... oh well I suppose it is a reason to go back!!:cool1:

We woke up the next morning and skipped our coffee at Old Port Royale. DMIL and DFIL were golfing that morning, so the Chef and I headed off to Epcot on our own via Disney transportation. I know it’s not food related but we saw this scene waiting for the bus that I thought was too sweet to not share.

349.jpg

Even the ducks at Disney World follow the signs. Everyone at the bus stop started encouraging the baby ducks to run faster!! It was a fun moment at the bus stop. :goodvibes

We got to Epcot and followed the herd over to Soarin’. We were literally in a crowd that was being held back by cast members strolling over to The Land. I would have loved to be standing at The Land watching this crowd approach; it has to be amusing to watch. We walked right on to Soarin’. Gotta love starting my morning with this guy…:woohoo:

357.jpg

Afterwards we decided to get some fuel at Sunshine Seasons in The Land pavilion. I had seen a few of these Strawberry Shortcakes on the boards before we left and was excited to try one of my own:

360.jpg

I was impressed with how many strawberries were on this treat. Although I have often felt that the amount and quality of food you get at the sunshine seasons is pretty impressive.

DH ordered a chocolate chip muffin. He informed me that it was very tasty and chocolatey. He truly was the muffin man this trip. ;) (J/K honey….)

359.jpg

After spending the morning in Future World, we headed up to the World Showcase for lunch. We always say we could spend the whole week eating solely in Epcot. So we were excited to enjoy our first QS meal in World Showcase. At this point DMIL and DFIL were finished golfing and had joined us in Epcot. We all knew that we wanted to eat in the World Showcase but we could not agree where. So we each went our own way and met back up at the outdoor seating at the America Pavilion to eat together. I headed down to Germany because I had never eaten at Sommerfest and really was hungry for a brat. I had a bratwurst with sauerkraut, the Bavarian cheesecake and an Oktoberfest brew.

415.jpg

416.jpg

417.jpg

It was nice that I was able to get water with my lunch on the dining plan, so I could keep hydrating in the Florida sun. I wanted to enjoy a German beer, but the sun is intense in that part of the World Showcase!!

I was impressed with this dish. The brat was really good and the Bavarian cheesecake was incredible. I had never had this before, the cheesecake was really smooth and the powdered sugar layer on top added much more than I expected.

DH decided to head up to the Yakitori House in Japan. He was thrilled to see that since we have been down they now offer the Tonosama Teriyaki Combination. This is salmon, beef and chicken with veggies and rice. His words were “This is delightful!” He was so thrilled that it now has salmon on it, he loved it!! He got the ginger cake for dessert which he said was AWESOME!!

413.jpg

414.jpg

He tends to be a bit more adventurous then me, and said that most people he saw at the Yakitori house were getting the chocolate cookie for dessert, however he highly recommends the ginger cake!

After we walked around the World Showcase, the Chef and I decided it was a good time to try the new Tequila bar in Mexico. We went with one of the many tequila flight’s, the name of which has now escaped me. I do know that it had 3 levels intensity of tequila on it and it was about $18. Two of these you were supposed to sip and the third was more of a traditional shot. It came with a really good Sangrita chaser. It was almost like salsa that you drink to chase the tequila. We loved the bartender here and after chatting for a few minutes he gave us the recipe for a gallon of the Sangrita. So the next time we have a tequila party in PA, we are prepared to make a gallon of salsa chaser…

Here is the Chef at the bar:

449.jpg

And here is the flight we shared. You can see the Sangrita chaster on the right. It also came with a bowl of salt and limes.

451.jpg

We both really like the ambiance here and the tequila was good. And compared to places we may be at in Philly, the prices were not that far off. It was a fun way to end our morning and afternoon in Epcot and we still had time for some swimming at CBR!

Next up: Scenery at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and dinner at Boma!
