We woke up the next morning and skipped our coffee at Old Port Royale. DMIL and DFIL were golfing that morning, so the Chef and I headed off to Epcot on our own via Disney transportation. I know its not food related but we saw this scene waiting for the bus that I thought was too sweet to not share.
Even the ducks at Disney World follow the signs. Everyone at the bus stop started encouraging the baby ducks to run faster!! It was a fun moment at the bus stop.
We got to Epcot and followed the herd over to Soarin. We were literally in a crowd that was being held back by cast members strolling over to The Land. I would have loved to be standing at The Land watching this crowd approach; it has to be amusing to watch. We walked right on to Soarin. Gotta love starting my morning with this guy
Afterwards we decided to get some fuel at Sunshine Seasons in The Land pavilion. I had seen a few of these Strawberry Shortcakes on the boards before we left and was excited to try one of my own:
I was impressed with how many strawberries were on this treat. Although I have often felt that the amount and quality of food you get at the sunshine seasons is pretty impressive.
DH ordered a chocolate chip muffin. He informed me that it was very tasty and chocolatey. He truly was the muffin man this trip.

After spending the morning in Future World, we headed up to the World Showcase for lunch. We always say we could spend the whole week eating solely in Epcot. So we were excited to enjoy our first QS meal in World Showcase. At this point DMIL and DFIL were finished golfing and had joined us in Epcot. We all knew that we wanted to eat in the World Showcase but we could not agree where. So we each went our own way and met back up at the outdoor seating at the America Pavilion to eat together. I headed down to Germany because I had never eaten at Sommerfest and really was hungry for a brat. I had a bratwurst with sauerkraut, the Bavarian cheesecake and an Oktoberfest brew.
It was nice that I was able to get water with my lunch on the dining plan, so I could keep hydrating in the Florida sun. I wanted to enjoy a German beer, but the sun is intense in that part of the World Showcase!!
I was impressed with this dish. The brat was really good and the Bavarian cheesecake was incredible. I had never had this before, the cheesecake was really smooth and the powdered sugar layer on top added much more than I expected.
DH decided to head up to the Yakitori House in Japan. He was thrilled to see that since we have been down they now offer the Tonosama Teriyaki Combination. This is salmon, beef and chicken with veggies and rice. His words were This is delightful! He was so thrilled that it now has salmon on it, he loved it!! He got the ginger cake for dessert which he said was AWESOME!!
He tends to be a bit more adventurous then me, and said that most people he saw at the Yakitori house were getting the chocolate cookie for dessert, however he highly recommends the ginger cake!
After we walked around the World Showcase, the Chef and I decided it was a good time to try the new Tequila bar in Mexico. We went with one of the many tequila flights, the name of which has now escaped me. I do know that it had 3 levels intensity of tequila on it and it was about $18. Two of these you were supposed to sip and the third was more of a traditional shot. It came with a really good Sangrita chaser. It was almost like salsa that you drink to chase the tequila. We loved the bartender here and after chatting for a few minutes he gave us the recipe for a gallon of the Sangrita. So the next time we have a tequila party in PA, we are prepared to make a gallon of salsa chaser
Here is the Chef at the bar:
And here is the flight we shared. You can see the Sangrita chaster on the right. It also came with a bowl of salt and limes.
We both really like the ambiance here and the tequila was good. And compared to places we may be at in Philly, the prices were not that far off. It was a fun way to end our morning and afternoon in Epcot and we still had time for some swimming at CBR!
Next up: Scenery at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and dinner at Boma!
