Dr. Cinderella's Happily Ever After! WP/GF 2/14/12- End of Honeymoon & Trip Report!

Hi Amy! I think it was about 4-6 weeks it took, I wasnt in any hurry though so I didnt really pay attention!

I love your aisle runner!!! I will definitely have to check it out.

Also where did you get the memorial candle? I would like to get one for our wedding as well. Thanks!!

Oh yeah love the bling as well!!

the aisle runner turned out great! I really like all the blingy things too, the more sparkle the better in my opinion ;). I definitely agree with buying stuff in advance, it's one less thing to worry about and pay for later on. :goodvibes

Rehearsal/Dessert Party Dress!

Hi again everyone! So, I got my pageant gown shortened...but it's not exactly what I pictured. I asked the seamstress for the length to be about 3" above my knee- I wanted a fun party dress type feel. She was an older Italian lady, and told me that would make me look short and fat and that I should get it knee length! I kind of laughed it off and insisted that yes, I wanted it short and above the knee and she agreed. When I went back to pick it up she told me that she didnt listen to me because she was the expert and when I tried it on again it fell about two inches below my knees. I told her I wasnt too happy with this and she basically told me she didnt care and that if I wanted it shortened again I would have to pay the $75 again! I didnt know how to argue with her because she owns the business so I just had to pay for it even though I wasnt happy...so frustrating! So anyways, I dont hate it longer its just more of a formal feel than I was looking for, especially considering I will be wearing it in Epcot. It also looks awful with my sparkly flip flops at this length which I was going to bring for when my feet hurt from those high Louboutins! I just dont know if its worth paying for to get it shortened again after I just paid $75 to shorten in already, its just annoying to have to pay twice. Of course I will not be going back to this seamstress, ever!! I have a photo of me in it, what do you all think? Should I get it shortened again or leave it how it is? Thanks for your help!

You're a better person than me!! I would have told her in English and Italian that she was going to provide the service that you wanted when you paid her!! (the plus of being Italian is that I have the same attitude problem, hehe) It's a very pretty dress either way... but would be super super cute if it was short with sparkly flops :)

It's a pretty dress as is - but you're right it is a little more formal and I agree that it would be more "fun" if it was shorter. Do you have any family or friends who know how to sew and could cut you a deal on shortening it? I wouldn't try to negotiate with the woman who already did it because she might intentionally mess it up or something out of revenge!

Awww sweetie i'm so sorry to hear that the seamstress gave you so much trouble  But you are way better than I am, I would have fought tooth and nail with her but in the end you need to be true to yourself

I agree the dress looks a bit formal but its still gorgeous! Whatever you choose I'm sure will be perfection on you :)

IMHO I think the dress looks stunning as it is (but then I am a boring old 47 year old woman, whose showing her knees days are probably over!!). However, if you would be more comfortable with it shorter, I think I would bite the bullet, get it shortened by somebody else, and write a strongly worded letter to the original seamstress. I would explain that I was extemely dissatisfied and disappointed and that you will not be using her services again or recommend anybody else does as she clearly cannot follow customers' instructions!!! Good luck sweetie, but rest assured you will look stunning whatever you decide!!!

I think it would be cute either way... If you can find someone that you trust to shorten it again then go for it. But I wouldn't take the chance of someone messing it up. It's a BEAUTIFUL dress and I think the seamstress did a great job shortening it. But do what ever makes you happy. I love it the way it is and think it would be really cute for your rehearsal. I'm trying to find a short yet formal dress for mine as I want to be a little bit more formal.

Hi!

I'm just joining in here. I love the dress, but I think it should be shorter and would look so cute with the sparkly flip flops!:cutie:
You should get it shortened by someone else and then send her a picture of how cute it is shorter. Maybe you could also send her a copy of the receipt and get some money back from her.

That's really annoying that she deliberately didn't do what you asked and even worse that she refuses to fix it :confused3. I think the dress looks really pretty the way it is though and would be afraid of someone messing it up. I don't think it would look too formal for a Rehearsal dinner but you need to be happy with it. I know it wouldn't be as comfortable but could you do a small wedge or kitten heel? While it is a beautiful dress, I feel like if it would cost another $75 to shorten it more, I would probably just buy a different dress that is a little more casual. You can probably find some really cute summery dresses on clearance now.

Hi there!
I just read your whole PJ and love everything that you've chose!
I love the shortened dress--at that length with the heels :lovestruc sooo pretty! But you have to go with your gut! It's your wedding. If you originally wanted it short with flip flops--Go for it!!!! :thumbsup2

So I just got a call from my coordinator that I got my date!!! Yay so excited!! I didn't mention it before because I didn't want to jinx it but we are getting married on the day of our 8 year anniversary! So happy right now! Now just have to wait to sign the contract at one year! Can also send out our Save the Dates now, will post them soon.

Congratulations on getting your date!

And FWIW, that seamstress was clearly crazy -- I can't imagine *anything* that could be done to that dress that would ever make you look even close to "short and fat". Oy!! And I vote for taking it to another seamstress and getting the dress shortened to the length you want! :thumbsup2

So glad you guys got your date! Its verry exciting! We are a month out of signing our contract and will send our first newsletter and STD's out then. I was worried about a convention coming and booking our space and me having to change everything. Fingers crossed that doesnt happen to you!

Hi! I just started reading your PJ and everything looks so great! Your enagagement photos were gorgeous! Don't know if you're still debating over shortening your dress any more but I think I agree that it looks a bit formal at the length your seamstress made it. I think it would look super cute a bit shorter. I can't believe she said you'd look short and fat in anything!! That's totally absurd and she sounds like she was just a control freak. You weren't paying her for her "expertise" (like, double air quotes on that bc what does she know) on fashion after all, you were paying her to shorten the dress to the length you wanted. Some people, sheesh. :confused3

Looking forward to seeing the rets of your plans progress!

So happy you got your date!!!
Isn't that the best feeling! :goodvibes

Can't wait to read more, you're amazing!

Thanks everyone, we are so excited that we got our date too!! I put together our Save the Dates a while ago and have been very excited to send them out! I included a magnet, informational newsletter, and Pre-Rsvp card in the STD's to get abetter idea of guest count. Hope my guests like them! Here there are:
