Hi everyone, have been reading this forum for wawhile but this is my first post. We will be heading (DW and 3DD) to Disney July 14 through the 23. We have come to the conclusion that we will either stay at the Doubletree Downtown Disney or Onsite in a FW cabin. We have stayed at the Doubletree before and loved, but I have stayed at FW numerous times before and love(approx 15 years ago was the last). My girls love to camp and they loved the other hotel also. I was just wondering what some of your opinions are on either place. The money difference will only be about $400 after you include being able to cook at the cabin.

Thanks

i have never stayed at the FW just WL
but I have stayeda t doubletree guest suites in Downtown disney and it was great
roomy, clean and i think they just remodeld you can usually get a discount at www.mousesavers.com
good luck

we are doing our annual disney trip august 8-22 and are staying at the doubletree this summer. the price difference was way too much to think about staying at 2 rooms at the pop or even a cabin at wilderness lodge. we got an wonderful rate of 85.00 a night for the 2 weeks...that includes a continental breakfast each day. i can't wait to try it out.

The cheapest we could get the DTD Doubletree is for $159 with breakfast. After all included I am looking at about a $300-$400 price difference

I have really enjoyed our stays in the cabins. You get a full kitchen, regular sized fridge, stove and microwave, so the kitchen tops the Doubletree microwave and small fridge. We like the atmosphere at FW, even tent camped there in April 2004. I haven't stayed at the Doubletree, but we did stay at the old Marriott that's now a Holiday Inn waiting to re-open. We found the bus transportation ok, although you did need to walk a little further than the Disney buses. On some trips we took Disney buses to DTD and walked to the hotel. Depending on how many people you have, the king bed at the Doubletree could be an advantage too.

I was also looking into going to the doubletree resort at the end of august. It looks like the best rate I got was $109 including breakfast. It looks pretty nice and from the previous comments, sounds like everyone liked it. We really wanted to stay at the Poly, but we are selling our home and buying a new one and need to save some money this trip. I can't justify spending over $300/night for the poly when this is an all suite resort, still inside wdw property, and breakfast is included - any other opinions on this resort?

we stayed at the cabins in 2003, they were a fun place, i am not sure we saved much in staying there - we never ended up eating much there - we did eat some breakfasts there, but the doubletree has the continental included. i know mousesavers has specials from time to time on the newsletter - that is where i got the access to the wonderful rate, now if i could find something as good for thanksgiving week....

:thumbsup2 were staying at the Doubletree this year too !! getting very excited.......started walking to get back in shape....... :rotfl2:

We've stay at FW and Hotels DTD. Love FW and the atmosphere but,the bus system is kind of a pain in the rear. Everything else is great and to be truthful we never really used the kitchen other than for snacks. I Just like the extra room the cabins afford.
This year we're headed back to Hotel Royal Plaza for the Executive King (also because of the extra room but, better bus service other than the drop off in park parking lots but, it's
really not that far. We would like to try the Doubletree and never have because I can't sleep in a smoking room and my DH would have to go outside to smoke. But,they seem to have alot of room and the fridge and microwave is a great plus. Hope this helps.
