Okay,
Never seen this asked before..

And I cant find the search button..

So

I know with the free dining, we can upgrade to the deluxe plan and pay the difference.

Can we downgrade to the counterservice plan (not get any money back I know)

Im pretending while Im in Disney this Aug, they will offer a Bounceback for Nov--Dec, and offer free dining, so going for a shorter trip, and downgrading free dining to Counter service. That way I dont have to come up with extra Tip money, for a shorter trip.

Im also Pretending that I will get airfare credits on southwest, so my flight will be almost free..

In the past they've let you trade TS credits for CS credits plus assorted trinkets.

I hate to burst your "pretending" bubble, but in the past, the only bounceback offers given during fall free dining were for the next year's fall free dining.

The free dining offered in Nov./Dec. last year was for Disney Visa cardholders and that offer was emailed out in Sept. if I remember correctly.

We've done every free dining offer Disney has ever had (5 times total - 6th coming in Sept.) and twice we've been offered bounceback. Both times that was when we were there in fall for the next fall's free dining.

I don't think you can downgrade. But in August/September Disney usually allows trading of TS credits for CS. They've even thrown in extra snacks and/or merchandise. If you don't want to pay tips, just trade the credits.

Im going this Aug for Bouceback
I am a Disney Visa holder,

I know they gave free dining last Nov Dec?? Something like that, and I was trying to talk my sister into going back if they offered it, and trying to find ways to cut cost by if they did happen to offer it for this Nov\Dec time frame. So I could guilt her to take a trip with us and our 4 kids.. We havent been In Dec for 4 years now,

But the free dining in November and December wasn't anything to do with BounceBack; it was an entirely separate promotion and, if I remember, only availabe for certain dates and only to people with a PIN and to Disney VISA holders (and maybe not even all of those).

Brief approximate (i.e. I don't have the exact dates memorized :)) history of Free Dining Future Stay/BounceBack:

  • 2005: No BounceBack offered/available
2006: BounceBack available to Guests staying onsite in November/December, for part of August and all or most of September 2007.
2007: BounceBack available to Guests staying onsite during about the Free Dining time, for part of August and all or most of September 2008.
2008: BounceBack available to Guests staying onsite, during about the Free Dining time, for part of August, all of September, and a little of October 2009.

During the August/September Free Dining, when restaurants are SO booked, and when - despite repeated urgings by Cast Members and even calls from Disney to soon-arriving Guests - Guests refuse or fail to plan ahead and make dining reservations, and then complain loudly because they can't use their (free) credits anywhere, Disney makes an official exception to the 'no trading credits for a different option' rule.

SOMETIMES, at other times of the year, Guests using the Dining Plan are able to get authorization to trade down, from the resort manager. This does not mean anyone should expect to; different people have different experiences at the same property.

YOu can't assume there will be an offer in December and even if there is I would bet that they still wouldn't have the ability to downgrade you to quick service.

There has never been an August/September free dining bounceback for booking in December, only for the next August/December.
