Doubletree at entrence to Universal

We stayed there the end of September 2005 as part of a HGVC timeshare deal. Unfortunately we were there during a hurricane and didn't get to see the place at it's best, and it had just become Hilton property so I doubt if it was up to the Hilton standards yet. The pool and part of the lobby were closed due to hurricane damages but looked like they would be fine during regular times. The staff was wonderful in spite of the situation. The dinner buffet was only so-so but then again the conditions were rather unusual. Sandwiches in the bar were fine but expensive. Our room was roomy and the location was great - very close to Universal, but I wouldn't exactly say walking distance.

Stayed there when it was something else, think it was a Hyatt. The location was okay for Universal, definitely not walking distance for us, but some might try. Rooms were typical business type rooms, nothing special back then. Our price was decent, < $100 a night I think.

We stayed there May of last year. I really liked the hotel. It was definitely very clean and the rooms were a good size. It is directly across the street from Universal, although because of the long entrance and such it would be a very long walk. We were on the 12th floor facing Universal and you could see so much the view was great. The windows are floor to ceiling and I am afraid of heights so I just sat in the big comfy chair by the window. As for the pool, nothing spectacular. Its a rectangular pool that you would find in anyone's backyard, just a bit bigger, and definitely no slide. They also try to get you to do the timeshare presentation while there. They only ask as you walk by the desk and only once. The timeshare is off of that property and its HGVC.

We stayed near there unless you are a marathon walker, Please don't try this. It is a LONNNNGGGGG drive in to the parking area!!! I had a Handycap card for the car so we were able to park near the moving sidewalks. It was another 3 miles into the property to get to the enterances of the parks!! I nearly gave up I hurt so bad when we got there. But the walk back would have killed me right then so we went into the parks.
