Double Shows in the Med

We just got off the Magic.

Not having unique entertainment every night in the big theatre was disappointing.

I’m surprised that they didn’t at least show Solo in the big theatre on evening - the app originally had it listed for one evening, but it must have been a mistake.

The crowds in Fathoms were pretty insane. We had a bit of trouble with our servers, so we were often one of the last tables to leave dinner. There were rarely any good seats left. Watching a magician or ventriloquist from a “side” view isn’t anywhere near as entertaining. Fathoms just didn’t work for those entertainers at full capacity.

Thank you for a first hand report, most helpful, and yes the impact on bars like fathoms must be very high.

Solo would be a good alternative one night.

I had a stock answer by DCL same as others.

I hope this information has been helpful.

Seems they are pretty upset with message boards and third party blogs posting this and causing lots of emails to answer.

I can only hope that the number of emails they're getting now will cause them to stop doing these double shows. Keep it up everyone! I sent mine on 5/20 after I saw the Wonder get double shows for Alaska and I feared the Magic was going to get this 'trend' as well. They replied (and lied) to me saying it was just a test on the Dream! Maybe with enough complaints they'll stop this...we were able to bring back the cheese plate--bring back our entertainment!

I 'love' how they're blaming 3rd party blogs and message boards...blame them for what...telling the truth? That there is not unique entertainment in the Walt Disney theater nightly and that their extra entertainment in the lounge is overcrowded now?

Got my reply. The wording is slightly different.

All shows and entertainment are subject to change and because of this
the Personal Navigators for your particular sailing will be printed the
evening before you receive them. What schedule is printed for one
sailing will not necessarily be the same for another.

I will choose to hope this means they will respond to the immediate negative feedback. We will see in just a few days!

I will potentially get them 4 times each, back to back.

We are boarding the Magic on June 30th. The only 'positive' is that I won't be so stressed about seeing the shows, there's opportunity to see them. I do however, agree, that the value of the product is reduced and I really don't like this trend.

I found with booking all my activities that the availability was reduced. Though I have what I want booked, I still have a messed up Palo brunch. There were no four table tops available, the first ten minutes of my booking window opening (silver:finally gold after this cruise). I called and they had tabletops for six........not helpful. My oldest 'child' is now 18 and a foodie. I would like him to experience this. Currently, I have 2 two tabletop tables for the same time and plan to try to fix this when onboard. (I guess we can get two tables next to each other if it can't be fixed.......... I have never struggled to get what I wanted even on the first cruise so I figure there are many more traveling this time with more status. Doubling shows will potentially increase the difficulty of getting other activities since it is doubtful that many will want to see a show twice in a row and will instead book a spa reservation and such. Ugh!

Yes seen an inference that this may be evaluated.

It's quite strong from them blaming third party blogs isn't it? Never seen them say that before, reads pretty annoyed.

Maybe they will have new entertainment soon, a " walking the plank " live experience, for bloggers.......

Reading here that the bars are more crowded now. The majority of the people that go to Walt theatre doesn’t get a drink. The majority of people that goes to the bars get a drink. Another way dcl is making money with the repeat shows.

Yes, said that before and agree, plus shops, plus spa......

Basically in your cruise groups.

Boycott second night shows. Leave WDT with low attendance.
Then all go to a bar, crowd it.

They will change policy quite fast.

Actually if your theory that they only want to make more money is true, people crowding the bars will play right into that.

Who said anything about buying any drinks????

You seem to have jumped a bit to conclusions! to try to make a point.

If bars are crowded the staff will not be able to serve, or call for help.

If I go to a DCL bar I typically take a drink from the soda station.

I don't like their defensive response blaming blogs. I read Scott's and frankly if they don't want to people to complain then they shouldn't try to save money this way. All I saw on his page was a photo of the Navigator that Disney provided. The uproar is 100% caused by DCL and if they don't like it then they could provide a better schedule. I don't like the idea of cramming the very small spaces with the extra performers. It means it will be hard to get in, and also that they will not be providing alternate entertainment there for people who might just want to skip those acts.

Exactly. He gave 0 commentary, reiterated that there were entertainers in the lounges, and never speculated that this schedule would persist. It was the DCL produced publication that created the issue.

I shared the news with my cruise group. It'll be interesting to see what most people think.

I was dissatisfied and disappointed with their response, it didn't give any information on the rationale, background to the decision, wasn't personalised , in the UK we call it a teflon response, it didn't stick, its " copy and paste'.

If they explained why, rather than blaming thoose who post it, then I would have an open mind.

I in fact got the information from friends on mast week and this weeks cruises.
Last week was a 7 day that was in school half term holidays so a high amount of British on it.

I was just looking more at Scott's day 1 navigators for this cruise Do you know what is even worse about the doubling up of the shows...they're doubling up (or more) on the movies shown in the Buena Vista theater at the same time...on the nights Tangled is showing--you could only go see Solo, Twice charmed AND Dreams--Avengers--4 nts of Avengers in the Buena Vista Theater! The entertainer night you could go see Wrinkle in Time.

Wow...just wow. If they're showing the same entertainment twice in a row and I don't want to be in an overcrowded space to see an entertainer, I'd at least like a different movie each night in Buena Vista Theater so that maybe I'd go to a movie one night...and have an actual choice. And if I have no desire to see Avengers...um...well...wow, I'm really not getting my value out of this cruise...ug.

I can only hope that things change for the better as they just seem to be getting worse and worse the more I look at it...
