"Double Dip Delight" Alternate Western 09/27/08

:rotfl2: So funny how everyone is different. I much prefer the seating on Southwest because I know that the person sitting by my child KNEW there was a child there when they sat down (and thus far the seat by the kid/kids has always been filled when there were still MANY empty seats available). It is much better than having assigned seats next to a grumpy person who makes it clear from the moment they sit that they DO NOT like children and do not want to be there. Then again, we travel so darn much neither I nor the kids think much about it. If (as has happened on lots of airlines, but for us never on Southwest) we end up seated in three sepearte seats totally apart, no biggie. Even at 3 they had flown so much, that as long as I could see them it was okay if we were apart (thougth MOST people would much rather trade seats than be stuck next to a preschooler with no parental unit:lmao: ). Our experience has been that SWA is much less likely to cancel an undersold flight than the other airlines (who then not only wreak havoc with our schedule but shove us onto a flight that is very full into seats no where near each other:lmao: )--so we book them whenever we can (SiL who travels 2-3 times per week per work feels the same). But Brandie, I certainly understand your position as well.
Kimberly--it boils down to I am a control freak also. You want to control where you sit, I want to control who I sit by:rotfl: We seem to both be able to get what we want--thankl goodness for that.

But Brandie, I certainly understand your position as well.

I prefer the TVs on Frontier, Jeremy prefers the leg room on United's Economy Plus. So I compromised and did the flight down (for the May cruise) on Frontier and the flight home on Ted + seat upgrade. So my numbers are a little skewed there ($400/ticket in May). I added an extra $50/ticket for the 5 inches of leg room hubby wants on the way back. I also had to split the tickets to better match my schedule.

So I know my TA also reads this thread (Heya Greg!!! Thanks for all the wonderfulness!! :goodvibes ), but I still have to ask this question to everyone. What information are you supposed to give your TA? I realized this morning I was being a control freak about making sure I got exactly what I wanted for the price I wanted to pay, and being Southern and not wanting to bother Greg! :rotfl: Of course, I hadn't forwarded any of the arrangements I had made to him, but am I supposed to??? For this cruise, I've only booked 4 rental cars (2 for each way), but for the May cruise, only the 2nd hotel room is remaining to be booked, and Greg's already helping me out there with research.

I'm obviously going to have a file folder of information with me, but what do you guys do? Do you let the TA know your interests and inclinations and have them come back to you with options to book? Or do you handle everything yourself and only call the TA with a credit card for the cruise?

Thanks in advance for your opinions!

Hi all. I hope everyone is doing well. I just wanted to give an update to the telenovela that is my life. I would call my life a soap opera but that would be an understatement.

I am no longer homeless. We have been in our new house for a week now but most of our stuff is still in storage. I am having some cosmetic work done on the house and it is taking longer than expected. So this has been a week of sleeping on Aerobeds, watching tv on the floor, and eating a lot of fast food.

Tomorrow morning we leave for Houston for my father's 80th B'day party/family reunion. Of course one of luggage had to get broken during the whole move, so sometime today I have to buy new luggage. It's going to be a sleepless night tonight.

To top everything off, we had to run to the emergency room last night. My little Gabriel (7 months) fell right on his face. I would give the details of how it happened but even I am not sure how it happened. It was all a blur. One second he was fine and happy, the next second he was face down on the floor. I picked him up and of course he was crying but I thought he was ok. But then his nose started to swell and blood started to come out :scared1: . Luckily we didn't have to wait long in the emergency room, just a few minutes. The doctor said nothing is broken, just bruised. Hopefully the swelling will go down right away.

That's all for this episode. Stay tuned for future episodes. I haven't decided on a name yet. Which sounds better, "As My Head Turns" or "The Young and The Sleepless"?

emsip:  I hope things become LESS interesting for you soon! Geesh! I'm glad your baby isn't seriously hurt!

DisneyShopping.com had their luggage on sale, though I doubt you could get it in time unless you walked into a store and they had them. Wal-Mart actually has pretty decent luggage sets, too, in the under $100 range. Hope that helps!

.....I just wanted to give an update to the telenovela that is my life. I would call my life a soap opera but that would be an understatement......

Well.......it is exciting that you have a place to call home. :) You do need a lifeopera title though!

I'm so glad your little guy is going to be okay. I'm sure it was a scare for all. Hopefully he won't be bruised for pictures on his first Christmas! Please let us know how your dad's birthday celebration was when you return!!

 for emsip. Here is wishing you happy, safe and UNdramatic travels. I sure am glad your little one is okay.

Well, I knew it was a true New ENgland winter when I caught myself thinking "Wow, it's gonna be warm today" when the radio announcer said this morning that we would have a high of 33 degrees:rotfl2: Better yet, I didn't mention that to the kids and they BOTH commented on how warm it is getting today:rotfl2:

Kids had their well checks today. Marika is due for two shots, but her birthday isn't for 7 days yet and because of a new law here in NH she would not be able to count the shots for school (if she goes back one of these days) if she got them today:sad2: . So we have to go back in January. And Rio appears to be the only truly skinny kid left in the nation. Seems he keeps getting taller but isn't gaining weight so now we have to monitor that for a while (I did something similiar and stayed at 72 pounds from 4th through 8th grades while adding 10 inches over those years--ate and ATE and ATE--but couldn't gain anything. Other than that I was totally healthy and just as suddenly as I quit gaining I started again. So hopefully it will not be too problamtic for Rio either).

Happy Holidays all! Just a quick note hopeing everyone has a great day! Im off to pull E away from Dance Dance Revolution that Santa brought the boys so that we can go visit our family in LA lol....

The boys were very surprized by the cruise Ill have to go into more detail about that later... but still so far the best gifts are from the dollar store that "santa" brought.... go figure!

Merry Xmas all!

Merry Christmas, everybody! We're getting a White Christmas here in Denver; the forecasters have been surprised by the snowstorm and keep upping the expected snow totals. :thumbsup2

Enjoy the day!

Just a quick post to say happy holidays to all our friends on here....we're just a few days away from 2008 which makes the cruise feel all the closer!!

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas:santa:! I just had a very rare, 4 day weekend, and it was great:cool1:. Although, yesterday, I cooked an entire Christmas dinner for 15 people, which was just a little bit stressful:eek: . I made it thru okay, and am now back at work, looking forward to my next 4 day weekend that starts on Friday:banana:.

Happy Holidays! It's been quite some time since we have posted. We were possibly considering changing our cruise to a summer 2009, but decided that this one was just too good to give up. I hope to get to know everyone better in the next few months. Can't wait to cruise again! :goodvibes

It was nice when I talked to DCL, that the woman I was speaking with said, don't forget June 30th is the start of 90 days prior and the date to start your reservations for Palo, the Spa, Excursions and such :woohoo:

Arin, congrats on surviving the hostessing activities! I'm sure it was great! A "rare" and "great" time? That sounds very good!!
