I just wanted to put in a quick post. I have been M.I.A. for the last few days and have about 20 pages to catch up on :scared1:

This weekend we have been holding a Fundraiser/garage sale to raise money for Cancer Treatment for my aunt who was diagnosed with Gall Bladder Cancer which has quickly spread to her liver, lungs, lymphnodes and blood. As of yesterday, we had raised almost $2000.00! Today is the last day of the sale. Who would have thought that putting together a garage sale could be this exhausting? Please keep us in your thoughts as we try to reach our goal of $2500.00 by the end of the day.

Thanks all :)

Arin......good luck for such a wonderful cause!!!!!!

My prayers are with your family at a time like this:grouphug:

Arin, best of luck with the sale! I hope you raise a lot of money!

Hope everybody is having a great day so far!!!! :)

DH flushes and says.. saa..woooosh.... :sad2:
Boys will be boys :lmao: :lmao:

Last year when our son flushed the toilet the first time, we hear "Whoa" and he comes running out of the bathroom. we had a good laugh over it. :rotfl:

The hair dryers are scary too.
:rotfl2: If I hadn't read the DISboards before our cruise, you would have seen me running out of there too!

I wanted to know how many of you actually added the insurance to your costs....also how many of you got passports as well. I did not do either. I want to know from the ones who have sailed before if you always added insurance or if it really is necessary. your comments about this is very important...thanks
We've never had insurance. As Hadley said, any medical problems would be covered by our insurance & we're all healthy and don't anticipate any problems. We've never felt insurance to be necessary. We've always had passports though.

I can't sew and I just made mine with fabric tape and an iron. It's not as good as some of the ones on here, but it will do.. :) I am picky.. see how I messed up on Clement.. lol I put our initials on each pocket too. Oldest to youngest.

We used them too. What you don't have to have a passport? I thought you had to?
Tonya
Your FE looks great! No sew? I never even thought of that option...I could have done that myself! Way to be creative!!

Let us know how you ended up doing! Garage sales ARE so tiring, aren't they? Hopefully people are a little more generous with their money & haggle a little less knowing it's for charity. :wizard: Here's to reaching your goal!:wizard:

We're lying low today. Two nights ago, Reese was up many times during the night saying there were ghosts in the room...white ghosts. He ended up talking me into sleeping in the guest room with him & he went right to sleep once in there. Then last night, I was having horrible dreams about being late for a trip. I always dream that we're on a ship or in a hotel, & the flight is about to leave and I haven't packed ANYTHING. I rush around to try and remember everything.

This time, we were on an airplane with rooms (?) and I was trying to remember everything I needed to pack. They made a "last call for checked bags" and I was still scrambling. I woke up so very stressed out! Cruise planning driving me crazy much?:scared1:

So after a few rounds of Yatzee with Reese, I'm going to lay down with him and take a biiiiig nap! I'm so glad I have a 5 year old who still naps!

The rum cakes are every where, including on the ship. We did go to the Rum Cake factory two years ago. It's free booze! We got trashed. It's amazing how drunk you can get from 24 dixie cups of rum!

Yet another reason to go.......free rum!

"But why is the rum gone?" is what the employees will be asking each other after we all leave.....:rotfl:

Question for everyone. Does anybody else have the problem of being told your not logged in when you take a while to type a post or PM? If I type something quick it's ok, if I type something with some length it seems I get logged off.:confused3

Anyone else having trouble getting to their ressie on DCL's site?

Dangit... I want to know if they gave us the Walt Suite yet!:rotfl:

Are you a Postal employee? I am retired from the USPS.

Yep! Postal & Proud. :thumbsup2

Were you a carrier? I'm a clerk. Right now I work tour 1 automation. Not a lot of fun, but you can't beat the flexibility....in the last year I've worked all three tours..did a stint as a window/passport/registry clerk while I was pregnant. I've spent most of my time in admin, though.
I can only dream of retirement.....(March 15, 2031, but who's counting)

There's always a couple of "us" wherever we go. My mom and stepfather (and ex stepfather:rolleyes1 ) work there too, and my husband did for awhile while he went to school.

I started out as a carrier, then a clerk. The day I made regular I also was promoted to Postmaster. I retired as a Level 18 Postmaster. Look forward to meeting you on the ship. It sounds like its all in the family. USPS is a great place to work.

Happy Sunday... 5 weeks from today we will be on the Magic after a FABULOUS day at Castaway Cay:cloud9:

Arin: good luck raising money, gallbladder cancer is very rare, I am sorry she is going thru this, our thoughts are with your family!

Tonya: LOVE your FE, I cheated and Tiffany did mine:love:

Welcome to the newest family! We are taking our kids out of school also, Matthew is in 1st Rachel in 4th, check the school calendar, our schools are closed Sept 30 AND Oct 1 for Rosh Hasannah (sp?) We will be gone 10 days and the kids miss 4 days of school:banana:

I went thru my "tote" today, it has all the stuff I have been collecting, I feel good about what I have/need to get, now if I could just figure out clothes:scared1:

have a Great day!

Our DD is starting 1st grade in September, yes, I'm pulling her out of school for two weeks. Sue me.

We are pulling our 2 kidos out of school too. I met with Grady's teacher Thursday evening and let her know that we would be gone and to please not send work that we will have to return unfinished. I also told her that he will be doing some things to turn in - cruise related that is. I dont' think she appriciated my request. :confused3

I haven't met Megan's teacher yet. I don't think it will be as big of a deal for Kindergarten though.

Our plans for the trip: Castaway: the best place on earth. Are you kidding me, get back on the ship at 2:30! That stinks! I'll be the one the ship will be waiting for. No one is going to board back ontime. They chopped our day, for what GC. GC is dull and overpriced in my opinion.

Great Idea! There are over 400 of us DISERS! If none of us get back on the boat - They will have to stay! RIGHT :rotfl:

You guys don't talk much about shopping! This year I'm going for a pair of blue diamond earrings. You'll know me when you see me. I'm the woman who LOVES blue diamonds. I got hooked on them last year. I love them for their color, they remind me of the sea. What are all you looking for?

OOOOhhh I want to see these! I love diamonds, but I've never seen blue ones!

My thoughts and prayers are with your family and I hope you reach your goal and beyond!

I've been sewing like a crazy woman lately! I've made Megan's pirate encounter outfit, her "Wendy" dress for Pirate night (she still refuses to be a pirate like the rest of us :rotfl2: ), Bags with mesh bottoms for our snorkel gear, dress alterations and a few FE's :rotfl:

I still have quite a bit to go though, I have some dress repair, our Pirate costumes, our Pirate Night FE (but this will be the first off the list if I run out of time), some Secret Mickey Gifts, A sleeping Beauty dress - Blue not Pink! and some other odds and ends.

I'm not stressed yet because Grady starts school tomorrow and Megan starts next week and while they are at school I can sew all day long! :cool1: :cool1:

I have a Hidden Mickey Jacket in the works also, but I'm not sure that will get done either.

So, to those who are stressed out - My advice is the same as everyone else - make a list and take it one step at a time.

Have a great day everyone! We're heading out to a church picnic in about an hour and I want to bring our snorkel bags to show Rhonda (Cindifan).

Tiffany

You are required to have passports by the US government to reenter the USA.
Are you asking about the guide book Passporter? If so, I have never used the guide books.

We have insurance because we didn't want to take a chance of getting sick or something and losing that much money. Even our deposit was non-refundable.

We *do not* have passports. We aren't required for almost another year, and since we booked so late, we didn't even try to get one. We may do that in the next year or so just in case we need them again. My ds, though, is going into the Marines, so I guess I won't get him one.

Way to go!!!! I hope you reach - and surpass - your goal. Let us know how you do today.

Arin-- I hope you reach your goal. prayers to your family.

Dh and I have passports, the kids do not.

Shell, you and I have the same nickname. I'm Michele, but my family calls me Shel because I love the ocean, sea shells and the color blue. How cool is that.

Come on Ladies.. I say we all band together for some shopping on board and a few girlie drinks! Anything with an umbrella will do me just fine! Come to think of it.... anything at this point will do fine, I don't care if there's an umbrella! LOL

Are there americans who are/were not stationed in our country ?!?

Oliver

:lmao: It's true!

It was about 15 years ago for him, in Nuremburg? (I have no idea how to spell that) He was transferred back home when his base closed, and thank goodness! Otherwise we would have never met :goodvibes

Someone was asking about being logged out and having trouble on the DCL website, and I don't have an answer for either one but maybe someone else does? :confused3

That's very cool!! It's nice to know another Michelle going on the cruise - even if you don't spell yours *quite* right. :) Just kidding. I've been Shell since I was little. Some time ago, we had 4 Michelles in my homeschool group, and 3 of us were leaders in that group. One of them goes by Shelly, one by Michelle, and I took Shell. I can't tell you how many checks had to be rewritten because they made them out to "Shell." LOL!! I'm much more comfortable with Shell, though. :)

Ohhh...ohhh...can I be in the Shell club? My middle name in Michelle & in the 5th grade, I changed my name to Michelle at school. Mom wouldn't let me change my name legally at age 10 to Michelle, and now I glad she didn't, because I like my name Heather. But for one year, I refused to be called Heather! tee he he

Of course you can, Heather!

That's just funny. Don't all kids want to change their names at some point in their lives???

My name is Stacy
however, I get called Tracey, Daisy or even Stephanie

When I was younger I hated my name and wanted to be called Samantha
