...Well, thanks Buckeye for the info you provided to me about the one way car rental.....can you tell me what car rental company you are using...

We chose Avis. It was reserved some time ago (the first week of May), however, I do remember that I Googled for a discount code, but don't remember how much the discount was for. However, I think it was a Walmart code for general public use. :confused3
The base rates we have for the one-way/one day (pick up at 1pm, drop off at 10:00 am) rental for a full-sized car are $47.85 (estimated total with tax, etc. $58.54) from MCO to Cape Canaveral and $45 from the port to MCO (est. total with tax, etc. $51.23). Ooooh....I just looked on the confirmation email, and here's what's noted under the Rates and Discounts, which I'm sure one of these is the code I ended up using.

Rate Type: Corporate
AWD: B021615
Rate Code: 32

BTW, if you're curious about how many other princesses and pirates are with us around the age of your kiddos, check out our current count, which now includes your two! Your family also bumps our total number of DISers and extended family & friends to 450 exactly!! HOW COOL IS THAT EVERYONE?!!!

OOOoooo........can I get that one to say 'But Why is the Kahulah Gone' with Bill & Rhonda at the bottom?

Oh wait. This isn't the magnet thread, is it? :rotfl:

:rotfl2: Oh I wish I could take credit for it and help you out!! I actually ran across it on the Magnet Thread tonight, and for some reason :rolleyes1 a few of you came to mind! (Okay...you and me, which reminds me that I had Malibu and pineapple juice tonight, and I had the thought that I felt like I was cruising already!) I also thought it was cute!

Does anyone have the appropriate software to play around with the words??

mslady32 ~ Welcome aboard.:cheer2:

Erik & Justice ~ Happy Birthdaypixiedust:

Drea ~ Read your PTR last night.......loved your dresses......you girls were making me feel like a dinosaur "class of '68":rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Meds ~ I get my meds. in a 3 mo. bottle also (4 different big bottles). I always pack them in my carry on with no problems. It's a pain but better safe than sorry. If you decide to take them in a pill holder, make sure you put in enough for extra days in case you can't get home in time for some reason.

Aleve, Viagra and Patron......FatCat is this you :dancer: 24/7 ???

Hello out there chatty bunch!

I know there are a few Floridians in the area, & I hope that Fay has left you all unscathed. We got hit HARD here on the Space Coast. I'm in Melbourne & we are still getting some strong winds, & the rain still really hasn't let up over 36 hours later. Our property is about 20-25ft above sea level, but unfortunately a lot of other neighbors in our development aren't so lucky & with the retention ponds in their areas, it's just not a good combo.. My husband has been periodically checking out the neighborhood on foot to see the situation and was able to take some pictures.
Wow, awesome pics! Glad you are okay. Were people actually driving though that water in a car? lol

We didn't bring bottle beer last time but we brought little bottles of wine and water in our carryon and they were fine just remember you will be carrying them around with you until you get into your room.
Do you just take a little carry on or a rolling cart? You don't have to hide alcohol when you get on the ship do you? I want to bring rum, and beer.. but I don't know if I have enough room in my luggage.. lol I am thinking of getting a tote or something to put in my suitcase then go to the store before we get to the terminal and get what I need. Is that what people do?

LOL when I read this yesterday I knew I had seen the best sandals for you:thumbsup2
ReefFlaskFlipFlops.jpg
LOL.. my friend has those. We are going to Hawaii and he wants to take them.. I don't think they will let you will they? I told him when he takes his shoes off in the airport they are going to wonder why there is liquid in his shoes.. :rotfl: Oh and Drea.. when he showed me the shoes I thought of you. I forgot about them until I just saw this pic.. HA!
Watch what??? :scared1: You go from "putting your dog down for valid reasons" to here's a YouTube!
The video he sent was a tribute to the dog, not putting the dog down. Cute little dog too. Sorry for your loss :-(
I am a full time student and work p/t at the hotel here on base and do a little travel on the side.

Katie, what are you going to school for? How do you like working at the hotel on base? I used to work at one when we lived in Mass. At the time we couldn't just type in a room for barracks or a single room, we had to type in crazy codes like ERM2Z.. lol

Tonya

well.. im in NJ and DRY!! :yay:

I was sooo mad, I called and got a quote from Mears/ Yellow Taxi Co. of $47 - $54 for a taxi depending on tolls... Well, we get to the airport, the driver says $72.60

:headache:

Why give a quote if it is going to be almost double?

And, as a surprise for steffis parents, who will go on their first cruise, we invite them to V&A. I'm still thinking about a good plan to get them to wear the proper attire and drive to the Grand Floridian without telling them what will happen. Maybe I'll tell them that as 3rd time cruisers we are invited to a special event. :rolleyes1
What night are you doing V&A's? We have ressies on Wed 9/24 for the early seating. I can't wait. I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your dog as well they truly are family members and it always hard to loose a family member:goodvibes
I wish I knew about this thread over a yr ago when i booked me and my family on this cruise. i need all the help i can get to get ready for this cruise....it is almost cruise time and i am not ready one iota...i have picked out what we will wear, what we will do, what we will eat...nothing....i biggest thing right now is finding out what to do as far as transportation to and from the airport...from the airport to my room off site and from room to ship the next day and from the ship directly to airport....any suggestions?:flower3:
Welcome aboard:yay:
Have to clear it with boss. 20/80.

However I think we should start planning which tastings we all want to go to so we can get the tickets upon boarding.

Last time they had

Tequila/Margarita
Beer
Wine
Martini
We are looking forward to Martini and Tequila/Margarita
That would be really ironic because today is my birthday......AND it's also Chris' (Scoobypop) birthday, too! (He and I have already been texting our shared birthday greetings back and forth!!)
Happy Birthday to J, Erik and Chris:cool1: :thumbsup2
The lovely brown UPS truck arrived today, a slim little package with a return address of Celebration, FL.

Cruise docs & luggage tags are here! I was totally confused as they were addressed to the 3rd adult in our party who doesn't live here. :confused3 Oh well, all that matters is they have arrived. Reality is starting to sink in!

Our first cruise is almost here! :cool1:

Ack how exciting!!!
I've NEVER received this before, but today I got an email for Michael's Crafts on-line coupon, which can be used for magnetic paper to make your door decorations. I THINK this was the thread that someone asked about coupons this week. I mentioned that they did not have a coupon in last Sunday's paper, but it would be in this coming Sunday's paper. So here's another that can be used starting today until August 30:

Thanks for the link we still need to get magnetic paper purchased:goodvibes

That is ridiculous! Glad to hear you made it back to NJ safe, sound, and of course dry:goodvibes

OK Was looking at the Excarta thread on the main forum and E walked by and said that looks cool were is that. Told him Cozumel and he was wondering why were not going there instead of just doing the beach break thing.. LOL. (Maybe if he would have answered some of my emails with more then just "WHATEVER YOU WANT" he would know) So anyone else doing this... or that HAS done it.

Would it be ok for P and J. J's not that great of a swimmer just learned this summer really. I see you wear a life vest but still. Also is it worth the 45min there and back?

More importantly.. is there still time to do some shopping??? :rotfl:

Drea ~ Read your PTR last night.......loved your dresses......you girls were making me feel like a dinosaur "class of '68":rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Doug and I are "Class of '68" too! I'm starting to feel old! O, wait! Today is my Birthday and I am getting old!

Happy belated Birthdays to Erik, J, and Chris! I didn't have time to check the boards yesterday and missed it.

I can't believe cruise docks are arriving already! I just emailed my travel agent last week to ask her if our cruise docs would be mailed to her or us. She said us! When we went to WDW in '06 our packet from Disney was mailed to our AAA travel agent. She called to let us know they were there and that we could come get them! It was over a 40 minute drive each way, but she wouldn't mail them. Needless to say we went with at different Travel Agent this time.

Have a great day everyone!

Tiffany

Hey, Julie....I seem to I recall that you indicated DCL would inform you 30 days out if we get the big room at Palo for our group DIS brunch. Am I remembering correctly? If so, hopefully we'll know by Labor Day! :goodvibes

OK, I have to answer that:

You speak... err, type?... English like a native! ... Sure you don't want to switch places?

Thanks for the compliment, in Germany we start learning english at the age of 8-9, and coming to the US at least once a year, helps a lot! ;)

The food is better in Germany ... My Army spouse friend told me great organic foods are more available in Germany

The food is better in Germany? YES  BUUUT, you do have our fav. shop: Whole Foods Market.

and the Germans are much better at recycling and building houses

Isn't that crazy? You do have the hurricanes and all those nasty little storms and we build our homes with bricks etc. not with wood!

Though I have to admit to loving my mountain view off my back porch... I'd miss that.

Hmmm, come to Bavaria and see the alps! :worship:

She seems very gentle. I say that because of how she took the treat from your wife.

To be honest, we teach this to our dogs. It is always fun to watch when sb doesn't give away the treat. They try and try without hurting the fingers!

Oliver, I'm so sorry about your beautiful dog!!

Thank you so much ...

Oliver

Thank you, you are absolutely right, dogs are like children, but we had some weeks, well months, to prepare for this.

We also have early seating but on friday, because we arrive on thursday, so save us some food! For Steffi and me it's the third time, so we know what to expect. Your first time at V&A? Then you have to try the "kobe beef", it is well worth the price and please NO foie gras. :thumbsup2

Oliver

One day closer, we leave 5 weeks from today, WOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

OliverOAS: Whole Foods is gooood. :) I would like to go back to Europe with the family, but I think I need to wait a bit until DH gets older and can sit still for long periods of time on a plane without squirming. ;) Our trip to Paris was a bit... long... for DH, who had nothing to eat thanks to the airline messups. :headache: Next time, First class tickets!

Chiana has little bitty front teeth and does the same dainty bite thing. She caught me a few times on the fingers and didn't like me yelping. This is the same dog that outright refused to play with me when I was pregnant. :rotfl: She'd play with DH just fine, but she'd look at me like I was an idiot when I would attempt to play with her! She'd sit down on her haunches and just glare.

When Fiona was a bitty baby, Chiana would gently sniff Fiona's head, her diaper, and her toes as a wellness check. Cracked us up. Fiona has learned to be as gentle with the doggie as the doggie is with her, which we see as a great accomplishment. It isn't as if Fiona hurt the doggie (or would be allowed to hurt Chiana), but it is nice as a parent to see Fiona expressing empathy and caring for animals, versus that toddler "patting" that always made us wince.

Ok, that's enough parental blather. I love my "girls." :)

scoutsmom99 & OliverOAS: We also have V&A reservations, but they are for the end of our trip (if we can fit more food in by then), early seating on Oct 4.

Also.....I Want my cruise documents!!! (whine, whine, whine) :rotfl:
Seriously, I hope they come soon. I hadn't even thought of it, but now that I see others getting theirs it makes me anxious!

As for transportation, we're using FL Tours to get to the Radisson the night before the cruise. That night we figure we'll get a taxi to dinner (probably 'the Cove' at Port Canaveral, to watch the boats come in and out). The hotel is supposed to have a shuttle to the port in the morning, so we'll take that. Then we'll just use Disney transportation (DCL bus to Pop Century, and ME back to the airport), except for when we go to V&A. For that I figure we'll take a cab. I don't want to be on a Disney bus all dolled up. :cutie:

So, the only things I have left to do are: Pack (which will most likely happen a couple days before), get my Disney rewards card, get cash out (right before), and try and get Palo Tea & Brunch once onboard. Hopefully I'm not forgetting something.

:rotfl2: Oh I wish I could take credit for it and help you out!! I actually ran across it on the Magnet Thread tonight, and for some reason :rolleyes1 a few of you came to mind! Darn. I was hoping this was one you had made...........
I don't really have a graphics program I'm familiar with. I've been able to do some basic editing/adding, but can't edit font out. & can't download new fonts to the business laptop. :guilty:

well.. im in NJ and DRY!! :yay:

Glad you're back. Bummer about the increased rate. What a shocker that would be!

We thought about this one, but decided against it. I think it might be too much for Emmie - underground in the water for that long & it being so cold.

Doug and I are "Class of '68" too! I'm starting to feel old! O, wait! Today is my Birthday and I am getting old!

Tiffany

Yep. Diana from Small World confirmed to me yesterday that the docs would come direct to us via UPS. :)

Ok - I'll confess - I'm class of "71".

Drea ~ Read your PTR last night.......loved your dresses......you girls were making me feel like a dinosaur "class of '68":rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Ok, but 'class of.....' do you mean HS graduating class or year of birth 'class'??? I'm confused. :confused3

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to all those August folks!!! Hhhhmmmm.......sounds like it was a 'busy' December the year before for all the happy parents of those folks. Perhaps they all got ahold of Fat Cat's 'advil'. :rolleyes1

Happy Birthday Tiffany!!!:bday:

Stacey- that sucks about the cab fair. Hope your visit is very theapudic for you and your friend!

Erica- I was wondering about the name too.. mostly how to pronounce it lol

Chris- I think we are doing, Te-kill-ya/margarita, and beer tasting.. I will probably do the martini one.. unless I can talk E into it also. NO wine for us.. unless it comes from a screw top bottel/box LMAO

Received a call at 1030pm last night (1st thought oh no something/someone is hurt etc...) Come to find out its P's teacher and he is getting an award today (1st week of school LOL) they give out awards every friday for the student of the week and they recognize the bdays of the week at the Friday assemblys. SO Ill be ditching work for a bit in the am to see my boys get recognized. I kind of wonder how she picked P.. did she just draw out of a hat LMAO. :rotfl2: Either way I will gloat over him and HOPE this means a great school year to come!
