Hey--the more tips the better--you are not cheating at all;)
I was thinking it would be great if we could consolidate all the tips in one place--but my feeble totally computer impaired mind has no idea how. I figure at least they will all be on what --30 or 40 pages:lmao: if we post them all in the same week:goodvibes

Marika has her OWN tip which she insists I post (and it is good). We tried packing nightlights or turning on the bathroom light early in our traveling career--but the light was too much and kept some of us up. Now we bring a package of glow bracelettes and hang a new one on the bathroom door knob each night. The glow helps you know where to go in the middle of the night but is soft enough for anyone to sleep through.

LOVE THE glow braclet idea, using it ... lol

I am all over consolidating the tips.. unless someone else wants the job??? Ill make another sharable link for it tonight! :) or maybe even today cuz we know Im not working much if im DIS'ing LOL

Anyone have any suggestions for a good biology curriculum with a lab? I really dislike what we bought for Sadie and need to get something else. Or any good all around curriculum?

Thanks.
Julie

Instead of the glo-brackets which will only be bright for 36 hours...we purchase a nite light....this allows enough light in for those of us that need to get up in the middle of the night----or me who come back to the room after to much PATRON and don;t want to wake everyone else up:sick:

The over the door shoe hanger is the best item that we bring along...it clears up all those little items in the bathroom;)

I have been putting the kids clothes (yes, for those of you who don't already know, I have already started packing a few things :rolleyes1 ) into ziplock bags by outfit. Each day they can just grab a bag and put on the clothes without me worrying whether they are clean or match. They also work like space saver bags when you squeeze all of the air out of them.

I'm hoping all of the FL Double Dip Delighters are all OK! Looks like Central Florida is being overtaken by Faye!

Great idea! We too use a night light, but we consildated two tips: the one with the airfreshener..we bought one of those plug ins with a night light and it does double duty...but YES I prefer total darkness so I think I will use that and keep the door closed with the braclelet on the outside. Who said they had extra glow sticks..>Drea? :rolleyes1 (hee hee not for long!)
I like the outfits in a bag idea too. Nice & simple. Esp. since our stuff will be scattered amongst two rooms.

I ordered my FE gifts, they will be here by 9/1. AND I ordered magnet paper...found a place that had $0.99/sheet..it's glossy finish but that's fine by me.

I've accomplished a lot today.....bedtime:cool2:

We always bring a air freshner with us....there is nothing better than coming back to the room with a fresh smell to it:thumbsup2

Ok...not sure if this is a 'packing' tip or not, but I always toss a small backpack and some quiet toys into our luggage. Before dinner I pack this for DS and we take it to the resturant, etc. This way he has something to do while waiting on his food that doesn't bother other people. I've even done this in a really posh hotel in DC...it was funny to see these nice oriental amabassadors walk up and talk about how quiet my son was and how great it was that he could be in a nice resturant and not make a fuss (of course if they had stayed a while longer that might have changed....he can usually pitch a fit within minutes).

I bring a tube of glo-sticks/braclets with me and after a afternoon @ The Beach Break and more drinking @ Carlos & Charlie's........you will see me on deck 10 throwing them down to people on Pirate Nite.........:lmao:

This was going to be my #1 tip also. It holds everything from shoes to bath items to batteries and chargers... you name it. Keeps all the loose stuff from getting buried on the few horizontal surfaces available.

well... my flight has been changed..

I am now leaving on Thursday at 1:25pm so I will miss the wake and the funeral.. :guilty:

Oh, Stacy, I'm so sorry......and you're stuck in the big empty house during nasty Fay  I'll be keeping you in my thoughts. Hang in there.

UGGGGGGGGGGGGGG I just went to check on my flight as I havent for a while and wouldnt you know it AIRTRAN has changed it again.. this time buy a LOT and Im flamming mad

we were to take off at 7am with arrival at 515pm in Orlando... now we dont leave until 145PM and arrive at 1130pm on Thursday. Thats a big deal.. and traveling with the boys.. we thought we could get there with enough time on Thursday to somewhat explore eat dinner and relax at the hotel.. now its a waste of a day. Im on hold with them now but I dont see any other flights taking off that day. IM SO UPSET. I know its just airfare and at least I still have a flight but UGGG im mad. AND again no email telling me of the change I will not be using them again!

any words of wisdom???

ACK! How frustrating! I have no words of wisdom since I never fly, but hopefully you'll get it worked out somehow. What a pain! All these changing flight times.....

This week's What is your best packing tip? If you have cruised DCL before hopefully you have a DCL specific tip. If not, just general tips about how to get it all in, etc. are always helpful:thumbsup2

My tip is very healthcare related - you RN's out there will totally know what I am talking about! You know how the cabins are pretty small, and the bathrooms don't have much....err......ventilation.....well, I bring along medical-grade air freshener that I BORROWED from my hospital. It's in a tiny bottle which fits nicely in my toiletry bag. One or two spritzes will cover ANY ODOR YOU CAN IMAGINE. And if you've ever been in a hospital, you can imagine some pretty horrific odors...... ;)

One other thing I do for all travel is to keep a special travel toiletry bag. It has spare toothbrushes, paste, etc.....even tiny versions of Lionel's cologne. That way as we are running out the door, I don't have to think "did I forget my deodorant?" because I always have the tiny version. My bag unfolds, and has a hook that we just hang in the bathroom - like a small version of the over-the-door shoe holder. Great for two people! :thumbsup2

Maybe we can put them all in one post on the DDD website, kind of like the FE rollcall?

So far we are doing fine. All morning at work the boss was like "get your stuff done and get out of here!" and I thought I was pushing it by leaving at 1pm. It's almost 4 and we've had nothing but rain and mild wind! She slowed down quite a bit and is apparently still a county below us (according to the radar). I think we're going to escape this one. Just LOTS of rain for the next few days.

Just stay safe! That is what I keep telling my friend who lives near you! I tried to call her but the call got dropped, but as long as I know she's ok, that is what matters!

Keep us updated though!

Here are my tips: #1 - Bring LOTS of hand sanitizer/Clorox wipes/Lysol spray - even though they clean the ship top to bottom...I always feel much safer after a good wipe down when we first get into the room (doorknobs, toilet, remote, etc). Then put the remote in a zip lock bag...I've heard these are the dirtiest items in the rooms. #2 - We're on the ship for 7 nights, pack your OWN roll of quarters and your own laundry cleaners ( you can usually find small compact travel sizes at Target/Walgreens) - the money and soap machines NEVER work...this will save you lots of time and hassle :headache: .

Here's my DH's tip: Drink as many Sam Adams Boston Lagers on tap as humanly possible.... :sad2: don't ask...

Ok...not sure if this is a 'packing' tip or not, but I always toss a small backpack and some quiet toys into our luggage.

Great idea! My DS will be 4 in November and I've been hoping to find some way to keep him under wraps during dinner...what a perfect idea! Now I wonder how many cars will fit in a small back pack.....

I must say this is the BEST idea...seriously there really is nothing better then coming back to the room with a nice, clean, fresh smell. We've done this for all of our 4 previous cruises and it is by far a MUST; especially for the bathroom...:rolleyes1

Arin, I LOVE THIS IDEA! What a great way to save space in luggage...may even do this for my DH, since he is such a clothes whor...ummm...nevermind?!:scared:

Where did you find the 0.99 magnetic paper (not like I need more magnets or anything :rolleyes1 ). The best I found was a pack of 3 for $7.99.

Do you have a Michael's crafts around you? They have the 3 sheets for $5.99, and after you use the 40% off coupon, it comes to $1.20 a sheet + tax. Also, for those of you with the Xyron machine, don't forget they have great magnet cartridges. I admit I forgot about that (and I have some!!) until I read that suggestion this past week on the DISboards. I even have 2 sizes of Xyron machines AND magnet cartridges for both. :headache:

More than you'll probably want him to have, but we've also found cars coloring books with stickers at Walgreens for $2 a piece. A travel magnadoodle from Wal-mart for $0.50 and some 'memory cards' for a dollar or two (he plays 'match' with the memory cards instead of the regular memory game). Now if I could only find one of those 'ziper, buckle, tie' books that teach those fine motor skills I would be set.
