Wow - I hadn't heard about Bernie Mac (have the Olympics on). I know he had problems a few years ago (I believe that's why he stopped his show) but I thought he was doing better. Pneumonia - I guess with his respiratory issues, it was just too much.

Drea - Congratulations to both of you!!! Have fun! :cool1:

DREA ~ So happy you and your boys will have your Marine home shortly.

NEW CANCELLATION POLICY - Effective 8/31/08

If you need to cancel your cruise and are within the penalty period for doing so, Disney Cruise Line will no longer allow you to change the date. You will be required to cancel your existing cruise and absorb whatever penalties are in effect and rebook the new date.

Speaking of Nations heard from E today he was getting ready to leave Kuiwait. Then heading to eaither Ireland or Germany he wasnt sure yet. Told him to pick me up a shotglass (yet I think I have one from both from the last few times he went LMAO) Then next time I hear from him is when he lands in the states back east... after that IN MY ARMS! 21more hours UGGGGG

:woohoo:

The Opening Ceremonies were awesome-I also have DVRed thema and will watch the rest later today.

We have a cruise meet planned for our group tomorrow, should be fun!

I am so ready to go on vacation.

I keep looking at pics of our stateroom and I am so excited-I may never leave the veranda!

Dan

I am so ready too! Every day I come home from work and say "one day closer......"
We DVRed the ceremony too, because I was so tired I didn't make it past the oars. Watching the rest tonight! :thumbsup2

Anyone know what the penalty period is? Not that I plan on cancelling or anything, but something that would be good to know in case we book a dummy date onboard. popcorn::

The penalty period is the 75-day mark (when full payment is due). Technically, DCL has always pretty much had this policy (if you read your cruise document) - they just never enforced it and allowed you to move your cruise if something came up after the 75-day mark. Anytime before that, you can move your date without penalty (just any additional charges involved in price hikes) or cancel for full refund. Except as always, you lose your deposit if you have category 1-3 and cancel at anytime.

Erik--Thanks for also taking charge of the message boards as well as coordinating the whole thing. This will be great at keeping us all in the know!

Drea--You must be jumping out of your skin about now. Please tell your husband that the Williams Family in Texas says thank you for his service. :thumbsup2

rkandmjsmommy--hope you feel better soon!!:flower3:

We're watching as well. The opening show was just incredible. DH & I were sitting here w/mouths open in awe most of the time. (Emmie got bored w/things fairly quickly, even though its in China. I think the symbolism is way over her head.) Its amazing the spectacle the Chinese constructed for this event - amazing. DH isn't able to pin down a favorite part. I think mine favorite was the rowing & sailing representation - with the huge paddle thingys. Its also really neat to hear all the things that are said during the parade of nations - about each nation represented.

Ok, had to add something else. How cool is the drawing thing that was started during the very beginning of the ceremony? Its popped up several times now......each time a bit more embellished by something that was done during the show. One time it was added to by children in the middle of the stadium making the sun that was originally drawn into a smiley face (complete w/rosy cheeks). Just saw it again during the parade of nations.....as each of the countries come in, all the individuals in the delegations walk across something that looks like a giant ink pad - each row of folks walks over different colors. Then they walk across the bottom section of the drawing that's laying on the floor again. Its making a huge flat rainbow across the bottom of the picture (under the drawing of the mountains & sun). Totally cool. I'm just blown away by something like this - an element that becomes increasingly complex as things progress throughout whatever show its a part of. (hope that makes sense - I promise I haven't been imbibing anything tonight. :) )

I think that I had a couple of favorite parts. One of them was the printing blocks and the patterns they made with them. Incredible that there were PEOPLE under those things! Another was the globe with the people running around it. Just awesome.

The ink pad thing was awesome, too. I was just amazed at the creativity.

Ok ..... that little 9 year old boy was soooooooo cute walking beside that TALL guy when China entered and walked around the arena. He did not look 9 years old, though.

That's fantastic news!!!! I'm so excited for you, Drea. Please tell him (from my family) thank you for serving!!!

Kimberly - My sister has the Cricut. She had it for almost four months (she got it for Christmas) before we really learned how to use it. Now, we both LOVE it!!!

I have 2 Cricuts, and I LOVE my bugs. Glad to know there's another addicted one out there. :)

Hello all -

It's been a crazy week....my Aunt was watching my kids all week since their sitter is on vaca. I was staying at my Mom's in Jersey. I left work early yesterday after feeling lightheaded and nauseous......it just got worse and my heart started racing.......to make a long story short I ended up in the ER for 5 hours! They couldn't find anything to keep me..told me to follow up with my DR.............oh boy! There is definitely something wrong but I just cannot put a finger on it!

For anyone who was looking at the camcorder videoman recommended, I got my Big Lots ad today and it is on the front page for $199! Who would have ever thought!

Drea- Thinking of you an E........may he come home safe!

Hope everyone is having a better weekend than I am.........

Crissi - That can be very scarey. Is it possible that with everything going on you could have had an anxiety attack? I hope everything works out for you:hug:

I think that is what they were thinking but weren't saying it. I have never had anything like that before. The weird thing is that there was nothing stressful going on at the time........

Thank you for the good wishes!

I really hope it is nothing.........but I'm going to make an appt with my Dr just in case. Can't risk getting sick on the ship!

I love to scrapbook! My sons are grown and yet to give me a new generation to mother so my scrapbooking is pretty much limited to my vacations (WDW and DCL of course:thumbsup2 ). It took us a little while to get the hang of the Cricut but now, I can't imagine scrapping without it!!

Crissi - I've found that anxiety attacks usually happen once the stress has calmed down and you stop a minute to breath. Still - it's always best to have it checked by your own doctor. You know yourself better than anyone!

My first love is card making, but I love to scrap, too. I have both the original bug and the expression. I also have the software and rarely cut without it now. It saves me so much time and paper. I LOVE it.

I made an autograph book that I hope my niece will use as a small scrapbook, too, for the cruise for her daughter. It's on my blog. I am making my daughter one, too, but it will be a little fancier because my dd is a little older. Ideally, I'm going to have a character sign a page, and have the picture of the character with my dd on the opposite page. Does that make sense? I sure hope it works out the way I have envisioned. I made my 12 yo ds a notebook to take with him. I thought he might enjoy writing a little bit about his days on the ship.

I look forward to meeting another paper crafter!!! :)

Aww Crissi, hang in there!

Do make sure you go to the Dr and have the bloodwork done. The same thng happened to me (well plus I passed out cold out of nowhere!)
I had to go through a full cardiac workup, and was then diagnosed hyperthyroid (which noone would ever have guessed, as chubby as I am!)

I hope you feel better soon!!!

Crissi,
Anxiety attacks are very scary. I've had several in the last couple of years - mostly at work. It's funny, I never had attacks before I had a car accident that involved pedestrians. They walked in front of my car and I couldn't stop in time and hit them. That put a lot of stress and strain on me and my family (of course it was followed by a civil lawsuit where they tried to make me look like a crazy-driving monster which was so not true because I never even had a parking ticket before the accident). Sadly, the way the lawyers talked to me gave me horrible anxiety that I still have today. Even though I work in customer service at my full time job and deal with guests at the Disney Store I still get so anxious when somebody yells at me or even a situation gets stressful.
Just make sure to go to the doctor to get checked out. He may even be able to give you anxiety medication or at least teach you some techniques to help if you ever feel that way again.

Attacks like that can hit for what seems like no reason at all. If that is what it is learning some basic relaxation will be helpful. You can begin with deep breathing when you first begin to feel off. Be sure to have all other possibities ruled out first. I hope they discover that it is nothing that a cruise won't fix.

It is about time. Do enjoy his homecoming. And tell him thank you from the midwest!

I had to come up with something so everyone would remember me since I do not have the time to spend just chating. I am very happy to brag about how close I am to getting to leave. I just need to figure out how I am going to get everything I want done in that short of a time!! Man I am really just freaking out. It will be time to leave and I still have to pack, make magnets, print all my shore excursion stuff and who knows what else.

On a funny note I bought an underwater camera and took it to the pool. Putting it in the water was the hardest thing I have ever done. Looks like seeing the screen will be impossible but it took some good pictures. It doesn't have a view finder so I guess I will just take lots and lots of pictures and hope that in the end I have a few good ones. I have 2G of memory and plan on bring the laptop so I can take as many pictures without worry and given that I will be gone for 3 weeks I am guessing I will take at least 3,000 pictures maybe more. It is going to be soooo fun.

Well I need to get ready to meet with a family for work. Yes I work when my families want me to but it means I can sleep in late at least once later in the week. I really like being able to set my own schedule. Lois
