Well surely you already have the Passporter. It is the one everyone in this house reads over and over again. If I think of anythign else I'll post it but right now I am drawing a blank on others.

Actually I dont but I have read the copy from the library 2 times LOL I might get it again just to see if I missed anything LOL.

Im actually looking for more behind the scenes type stuff. Maybe like how the cartoons are made/drawn (i know there is a disney name for this but for the life of me cant think of it right now.) or how disneyworld/land was brainstormed and build or the ship... hope this makes sence :lmao:

Well well well look how you all talk about me when I'm not here!!! What a reputation I've started for myself!!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I'm sure I'm going to rue the day I chose "bratty fairy" instead of "sassy fairy"....which would have been equally accurate but come off much....SASSIER!! :rotfl:

Anyhow.....you'll all think this is funny. I hadn't even had a chance to tell Jason about that post with the Question of the Week and my referring to myself as a "bratty fairy" on here........but earlier this week we were out shopping and I decided to stop into a party store to look for fun little things to use as door decorations or goodies for the sailaway party, etc. So we were looking though the themed birthday party for Disney party supplies and there was an entire Tinkerbell & "Disney Fairies" birthday set (themed around Tink's feature film due out soon---later this year I think)....as soon as Jason saw it....he said, "I want us to get that big logo that says "Disney Fairies" and make a door magnet out of it!!!" I thought that was ironic and fun!

(And at this moment only Hadley and Sandi can truly appreciate how funny it is because Jason is the shy understated of the two of us....not the one you'd assume would want to hang "Disney Fairies" on our door! :rotfl2:)

It was a good suggestion, though.....so now you'll all be able to easily find us!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

:lmao: :lmao: I hadn't even gotten to your part about how only Sandi and I could appreciate this and i was already thinking JASON said that--really JASON?!?!
You know you totally have to make that sign now:goodvibes

And Erik--I am pretty sure everyone on the thread knows you are sassy by now ;-)

August 1 means I can FINALLY say...

WE ARE GOING ON OUR CRUISE NEXT MONTH!!!!!!!

We are beyond excited, maybe I will throw a little cruise pre party Sunday night at surprise, any ideas on what I can serve?
:dance3: :dance3: :woohoo: :cool1: :cool1: :cheer2: :cheer2:
Here is my brag--we don't get tax free weekends because (drum roll please) there is no sales tax in New Hampshir EVER (also why I can live in a littel bitty town but have an outlet mall at the highway--people like to drive up from Mass. and shop without those pesky taxes). Happy shopping my friend:thumbsup2
Same thing here kinda. We don't have tax on the necessities like food and clothing which is really nice.
oh and I dont think im going to post pics lol going to hold out till the cruise so you can all see it live and in person LOL
That is so great Drea! I need to get started on mine...I think you know we will need picture before the cruise;)
Ok ..... I'm coming in really late. We didn't *book* our cruise until June 18th (yeah, spur of the moment ...). Can I still join in the chatter??????? Please????
Welcome aboard:)
We're approaching 450 in our group now!!!
That is just crazy!! I can't believe we have that many people in our group. The cruise will be here before we know it!
I have never been to the MNSSHP. If we decided to buy ticket for that we can only go in at a certain time right? Are there any sites that have this discounted?
You can get discounted tickets for certain nights if you are an Annual Passholder or DVC Member.
With all this talk about Video cameras I decided to purchase one. I looked on the site VideoMan recommended and decided on this one:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/537998-REG/Sony_DCR_HC52_DCR_HC52_MiniDV_Camcorder.html
Oh I'm jealous that is the line I orginally wanted to get mine from back when they had like the DCR-HC42 or something like that. I couldn't pass up the deal I got on my dvd one though. I don't use it enough to justify getting another one that is a great deal though.
:cool1: GOING ON THE WONDER NEXT WEEK !!!! :cool1:

I just Booked the DCL Wonder for August 7th - 10th
Hubby said he needed to get away, and I have been checking for a week and low and behold today a Cat 5 popped up and I snatched it!!

pirate:
Nice have a fun trip!!
Going To Dentist tomorrow so I will be all set for the cruise.

:teeth: :teeth: :teeth: :teeth: :teeth: :teeth: :drinking1
:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Ok .... I think I'm going to *have* to make a fish extender.

For those of you that have cruised before, have you seen a lot of the extenders get stolen??

My goodness, I was on here at lunch today and I can't believe how many pages there were to catch up. I was just on the phone with Dave and Amy and she asked how many pages and I told her 81 at lunch time! She thought that was a lot - wait til she actually gets home and sees how quickly these pages add up!!:rotfl2:

ntheory - Welcome!!!! That's such an awesome gift from your Mom! You're all going to get such great memories from this trip.

Stacey - Congrats - enjoy your pre-cruise cruise!!!!!

UPDATE on Amy and Dave - Well they are having a great time! Course, with Dave calling, I mostly hear all about the food!!!:lmao: It's been a fun trip for them. Amy and Dave were down at WDW last year for MVMCP and even though Amy interned there during college, they were actually able to to some things she hadn't done before - beyond the fact that they were both doing everything for the first time together. Well, this time they were able to share some first times with her family (firsts for her Mom and Dad but not for Dave and Amy). They took them to HDDR, they ate at LeCellier and they ate in the Castle (told you it was all about the food)!!!!!:rotfl2: They've been able to do alot in the parks - Dave loved Toy Story Mania, but today they went back to DHS and it was packed!! They ended up just staying for a little while and then leaving. Tomorrow is their NO PARKS SHOPPING DAY!! I can't believe that they'll be heading home in just a couple of days. Kim - they are heading back down on 9/20 so I informed them that they had only 50 days until they were back there - that made them excited!! I'm sure Amy will fill everyone in on their adventures when she returns (course, that's after hours of reading to catch up!).

Hi All,

Looking for some suggestins on disney type books. I "thought" it might get E and the boys into the spirit. Not that they arent hyped up but well more so LOL.

So looking for suggestions on books, something along the lines of the bio of Walt, or the making of movies, or the ship.... etc. So what do you have in your collection that you LOVE.. or that you would like to have that looks good LOL. As I have no clue where to start.

Drea, have you watched any of the Disney specials on the Travel Channel? They redid the DCL one which plays every now and then, and Samantha Brown recently did one, and then there are like 2-3 other "new-ish" ones. If you ever get a chance to see the "Modern Marvels" about Disney on the History Channel that is awesome too. Any ANY of the shows highlighting the parks are great because they almost always talk to the Imagineers and talk about Walt's vision. Very cool! (and free)

Well well well look how you all talk about me when I'm not here!!! What a reputation I've started for myself!!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

ACTUALLY------Shell raises an EXCELLENT point here!! If your fish extender does not have your name or your picture or some other very personal signifier SEWN onto it....there is a chance it will get stolen. HOWEVER...never fear....

.....Hadley and Sandi and Chris & Rob and Jason & I had the rarest of pleasures last May on the Transatlantic cruise----we sailed (and became great friends with) the ORIGINATOR of the fish extender tradition. (The "tag fairy" even tagged her as "the first to extend her fish" beneath her screenname!! :thumbsup2 ). Anyhow....she had a great suggestion which Jason and I used:

Bring along with you a single zip tie (the kind they sell in hardware stores for holding cables together, etc.). You can loop it through your fish extender and over the fish and it makes your extender difficult, if not impossible, to steal. When the cruise is over a simple pair of scissors or nail clippers can be used to snip it so you can get your extender down. Debbie (the fish extender goddess!! :thumbsup2 ) referred to these zip ties as the "fish extender CLUB".....named for that thing you can lock over your car's steering wheel!

BTW, no need for anyone to go out and get these. I'll spoil one of my surprises and tell you that I've included zip ties in everyone's FE gift bag. :) My intention is to drop my goodie bag off Saturday night, too. :fish:

The ultimate Walt biography would have to be Walt Disney: The Triumph of the American Imagination. It's a great book with crazy lots of detail...(900 something pages. The thing weighs like 3 pounds and it's a paperback!), I'm only on page 337 so far but it's a great read if you're interested in how all this came to be.
Being a parks gal I also love Realityland. If you like rides check out the Mountains book, The Disney Mountains: Imagineering at It's Peak. That should get you started....

Ok .... I think I'm going to *have* to make a fish extender.

Welcome to the cruise, Shell.
It's funny, I did not know that FE's could get stolen (don't ask me why, it just never crossed my mind) and I hung mine up (and it was not yet personalized) on our last cruise. It did not swim away but much better to be safe than sorry and follow Erik's suggestion of the zip tie.....
If you are doing a FE make sure you check the thread on our website and/or get with Drea so she can add you to the list.

What a great idea! I'm so glad I don't have to root around in the supply closet at work looking for them....:rotfl:

Door docoration can walk away as well. If you put at least your room number on them they are more likely to stay put. Another idea put out there by a DISER is to take them in each night as it seems to be the teens (or even adults) who are taking them. It isn't the younger kids as they took one of mine I had in the upper right hand corner of the door. So the person who took it was at least 5'5''. Lois

:rotfl: Oh my gosh you guys crack me up! :thumbsup2

ntheory, Welcome! :cool1: We're a wild and crazy crew, as you can probably already tell! My brother is an Active duty Marine stationed in San Diego. :thumbsup2 I'm sailing with my 3 year old daughter, my geek hubby, and my geek Mom.

DH now has pinkeye, so my nice calm catch-up weekend won't be. I'm going to be dashing around instead. :laundy: and shopping, etc.

Hadley: I am soooooo a geek. :rotfl:

Erik: <speechless, but I'm smiling>

Kimberly: You are so on top of things! I'm so tickled to be your friend. :)

MagicMe: :goodvibes I love hearing about their time in WDW.

Ok, upstairs is ominously quiet... I need to go see what "Nooooothing!" actually is.

Well, I think anyone traveling AirTran would be best served to keep an eye on their booking! I was just on the web site (I've been checking it about twice a day - I know just a little obsessive which is why I fit in with this crowd:rotfl: ), and I found that my flight home now reads about an hour later (although when I check my confirmation on line it's still reading the original time). The one that has me concerned it my flight down the day before. I was scheduled to leave at 1:55 and the website currently shows 1:47 which is no big deal since we've since decided to go to MNSSHP that night and I wouldn't mind going earlier so every extra minute counts. What has me concerned is that yesterday they had plenty of pricing available on that flight and now that flight (along with several before an after which are mostly connecting) all only show full price fares. Ordinarily I would think that this means my flight is getting full but the last time this happened and the website looked like that, my flight was canceled and they put me on a connecting! I suggest everyone keep an eye out (since the news keeps reporting how airlines are cutting back on their flights). I know I'll probably be checking four-five times a day now until I feel more confident that the flight won't get canceled (at least for now). On the bright side, now that we planned on going to MNSSHP and stay on site that night (instead of going over to the port), I wouldn't mind having the opportunity to hop on an earlier flight which I could snag if they mess around with my flight.

This is a good idea no matter what airline you fly. I am checking about once a week now but will be more obsessive as we get closer to out date. It just seems like real bad customer service if you ask me. Lois

I agree - the last time this happened, they changed my flight home. I was originally scheduled to leave on a flight around 8:30PM (I was going to spend the day at DTD) but suddenly my flight became a connecting flight at around 7:30. Since I try to avoid connecting flights, I called and snagged a 3:30 direct (duh - at that point I should have just snagged the same flight at Dave and Amy since I won't have enough time for DTD now). After all this checking on my own, I finally got an email about two weeks later!! Course, now that flight has been moved back by an hour. Who knows when I'll get home??!!! Don't really obsess so much about that as making sure I get down there at a decent time! Especially since I know have the MNSSHP tickets in my trip folder!!!!

DH & I are both very involved in our contemporary service (DH drums & sings some; I play flute & sing a little).

Doug and I are on the Praise Team with Rhonda and her DH too! Doug plays the saxophone (very well I might add! His nick name is DougyG) and I sing.

Oh I'm jealous that is the line I orginally wanted to get mine from back when they had like the DCR-HC42 or something like that. I couldn't pass up the deal I got on my dvd one though. I don't use it enough to justify getting another one that is a great deal though.

We have a HandyCam that takes the DVD's, but it's such a pain to use that it pretty much just sits and collects dust. I used to video stuff all the time, but don't now because I'm so unhappy with our old one and it cost A LOT!!!

I hope this one is easier and I can get back in the habbit of video taping! The one thing I couldn't tell from the website was how big it is and what size bag I will need. I'm hoping it's smaller than our old one, but I can't imagine.

By the way - Doug is out of town and I didn't ask if he thought buying a new Video camera was a good idea - I can hear him now - BUT WE ALREADY HAVE ONE!!! :scared1:

BTW, no need for anyone to go out and get these. I'll spoil one of my surprises and tell you that I've included zip ties in everyone's FE gift bag. :) My intention is to drop my goodie bag off Saturday night, too. :fish:

Are these going to have tiny words on them that say, "The Fish Extender Club"? :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl:

I am honestly shocked at how the airlines are handling their fuel shortages. I wonder what airline will survive this mess? Southwest has my vote and I've never even flown with them.

What a :headache: !

There you go - adding to the poor guy's stress level. :sad2:

The airlines are really messing things up. Did everyone hear that Delta (I think that's the right one) is now charging even more for the 1st checked bag - its now up to $25! & $50 for the 2nd!! Amazing. I just flew Southwest for business this past week - so nice not to have to worry w/the extra $ for stuff that should be included in your fare. They were still serving drinks & snacks for no charge. & no charges for 1st & 2nd checked bags. IMHO, Southwest is doing things the most 'customer-friendly' of all the airlines out there (at least our domestic ones).

Some have mentioned buying their fish extender from someone who makes them. I realize we can't advertise here but I certainly would appreciate being directed to the website of anyone who makes and sells these.

I have looked on ebay and I see a couple (one seems handmade). I'm not sure if this is the seller that others have mentioned or there is another?

Feel free to PM me or post it here. I need to get this taken care of!
