Rhonda, I played the flute and piccolo back in the day myself! Every so often I'll get the flute out and play. I wish I would have kept it up though! I so easily get out of breath now!! DougyG, huh?!! :rotfl2: I love it!

Kimberly: You are so on top of things! I'm so tickled to be your friend. :)

I'm so happy to have my geeky friend, too! :goodvibes

...Are these going to have tiny words on them that say, "The Fish Extender Club"? :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl:

That would be funny, and I would do something like that if I didn't already have a little note with a title on it for you!

This is a good idea no matter what airline you fly. I am checking about once a week now but will be more obsessive as we get closer to out date. It just seems like real bad customer service if you ask me. Lois

I agree Lois, but it seems now adays no one cares about customer service. Just the end product, sad:confused: I too have been checking airtran after they changed my flight (for the better) a while back. Good luck to all with this battle too!

BTW, no need for anyone to go out and get these. I'll spoil one of my surprises and tell you that I've included zip ties in everyone's FE gift bag. :) My intention is to drop my goodie bag off Saturday night, too. :fish:

What would we do without you! You Rock!

Drea, have you watched any of the Disney specials on the Travel Channel? They redid the DCL one which plays every now and then, and Samantha Brown recently did one, and then there are like 2-3 other "new-ish" ones. If you ever get a chance to see the "Modern Marvels" about Disney on the History Channel that is awesome too. Any ANY of the shows highlighting the parks are great because they almost always talk to the Imagineers and talk about Walt's vision. Very cool! (and free)

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Actually I never seem to catch them, darn it. But Ill keep my eyes peeled :cool2:

The ultimate Walt biography would have to be Walt Disney: The Triumph of the American Imagination. It's a great book with crazy lots of detail...(900 something pages. The thing weighs like 3 pounds and it's a paperback!), I'm only on page 337 so far but it's a great read if you're interested in how all this came to be.
Being a parks gal I also love Realityland. If you like rides check out the Mountains book, The Disney Mountains: Imagineering at It's Peak. That should get you started....

What a great idea! I'm so glad I don't have to root around in the supply closet at work looking for them....:rotfl:

OHH thanks for the suggestions Jen, great list to start with. :worship:

As for the zip ties I agree, I wont have to get E to steal some from work... wait government property... borrow? Accidently bring home and pack... YA thats it! :rolleyes1

**********FISH EXTENDER UPDATE***********

Hey all just also wanted to put a reminder out there that if you find your reservation gets changed anyway (ie; dinning; cabin # etc) Please let me know. That way we can keep the list updated.

On this note I keep checking to see if I get assigned a room # as of today nada.... still holding out that means their holding the Walt Suite for us :rotfl: What I can dream....:cloud9:

I'm glad you mentioned this! If you do get some changes, Drea, can you please color that cabin number field so we can see it changed? Since I have gifts based on sex and age, I already have cabin numbers on my bags....so I would need to know if there are changes, too! I looked on there last night to see if any of the GTYs have been assigned yet, but noticed that there are no changes right now.

Zip ties???

Aren't those the plastic thing they handcuff people with when there is a mob and they do not have a lot of handcuffs?

My medicine list makes even more sense now.

ACTUALLY------Shell raises an EXCELLENT point here!! If your fish extender does not have your name or your picture or some other very personal signifier SEWN onto it....there is a chance it will get stolen. HOWEVER...never fear....

.....Hadley and Sandi and Chris & Rob and Jason & I had the rarest of pleasures last May on the Transatlantic cruise----we sailed (and became great friends with) the ORIGINATOR of the fish extender tradition. (The "tag fairy" even tagged her as "the first to extend her fish" beneath her screenname!! :thumbsup2 ). Anyhow....she had a great suggestion which Jason and I used:

Bring along with you a single zip tie (the kind they sell in hardware stores for holding cables together, etc.). You can loop it through your fish extender and over the fish and it makes your extender difficult, if not impossible, to steal. When the cruise is over a simple pair of scissors or nail clippers can be used to snip it so you can get your extender down. Debbie (the fish extender goddess!! :thumbsup2 ) referred to these zip ties as the "fish extender CLUB".....named for that thing you can lock over your car's steering wheel!

That is an EXCELLENT idea, because that is one of Lionel's main fears. I tried to point out that it would be silly to steal a FE that says "Erica and Lionel" but he stood his ground. At least that lets me know he has some attachment to it, right? ;)

BTW, no need for anyone to go out and get these. I'll spoil one of my surprises and tell you that I've included zip ties in everyone's FE gift bag. :) My intention is to drop my goodie bag off Saturday night, too. :fish:

You. Are. AWESOME.

You never cease to amaze me LMAO :rotfl:

Oh!!! It is to tie the FE to the Fish.
They gonna let you thru airport security with a couple hundred of those?

Anyone think that during drydock the fish may get replaced?

I know some of you were talking about Cameras. Here is the one I bought and I LOVE it. Some other people on here have it too. They are selling for $249 in the stores. It's on amazon for $209 with FREE shipping right now!

It takes great video too. It also has the face detection so if you take a pic of more then one person they will all be clear and not blury like a lot of pics turn out. I did a lot of searching and looking at reviews on consumer report before I bought this.

AHHHHHHHHHH! :scared1: That would be just my luck! LOL You just had to bring that one up! :lmao:

But, if they do this do you think they would sell them on Mouse Surplus? I want to buy one!

Tiffany

Do you home school???? We do and always have. We're not taking books for the cruise, either. I may count some of the time as educational, though, since we're going to places that have different cultures and lifestyles.

Hi Ntheory! Welcome to the cruise...glad you found our chat. We're homeschoolers too & the only thing we're bringing is Reese's violin to practice. Everything else stays home :)
Glad you're here & have a great weekend!@

Some have mentioned buying their fish extender from someone who makes them. I realize we can't advertise here but I certainly would appreciate being directed to the website of anyone who makes and sells these.

I have looked on ebay and I see a couple (one seems handmade). I'm not sure if this is the seller that others have mentioned or there is another?

Feel free to PM me or post it here. I need to get this taken care of!

I'll make a thread on the other website. LuvTheEars, would you mind responding to it? ;)

OK....I've done it! FE gifts are all squared away :) I told Reese about the FE and the surprises and he can't wait.

On our last cruise, I had packed a little surprise for each morning, from Mickey, so now the FE surprises will take the place of that. One less thing I have to worry about...now Reese will know there are friends all over the boat who are bringing surprises!!!

GREAT idea about the FE Club to prevent stealing. I would be sooooo sad if ours was taken. Luckily, our says "The Williams Family" but that's still a common name!

Question for our friends...
If we put up a US map (sorry to those Canadian friends!), would you take a minute if you pass our door to mark the state you're from? I'm trying to decide if we should do this or not...we'd tally the results when we get home, locate the states on our big wall map, graph the results, etc. Is that too much work for someone passing by?

WATERPROOF CAMERA housing question....since I can't find the comments about that vinyl waterproof camera housing..would someone mind telling me what it's called or the website again? Sorry  I can't find the comments about it, and I want one!

Have a great Saturday all!

Heather: the girls would love to mark a map on your door. :) they are so excited to deliver gifts all ready and I only have half of them.

Chris: you crack me up. :rotfl:

Kimberly: awesome idea with the ties. I was asking the other day if we had some in the house.

Great idea, Erik. I think I'll take some of those with me. I still plan to put our names on there, but I am a little insecure about hanging something out there and expecting it to be there at the end of a week. :confused3 Sad, huh?

Well, I think we booked our cruise a little late to get on any of the lists :( That's ok. I think it will be fun to have one for my suite, my mom's and my niece's just to leave a little something each day.

I use the zip ties to lock up my suitcase zippers also.

Welcome to the group ntheory.:flower3:

Chris ~ Can't wait to get your wife's take on you.

Welcome to the cruise, Shell.
It's funny, I did not know that FE's could get stolen (don't ask me why, it just never crossed my mind) and I hung mine up (and it was not yet personalized) on our last cruise. It did not swim away but much better to be safe than sorry and follow Erik's suggestion of the zip tie.....
If you are doing a FE make sure you check the thread on our website and/or get with Drea so she can add you to the list.

Thanks!

I'm thinking that I may be too late to be involved with the group FE thing. That's ok, though. I will have fun doing it with my family, anyway.

Door docoration can walk away as well. If you put at least your room number on them they are more likely to stay put. Another idea put out there by a DISER is to take them in each night as it seems to be the teens (or even adults) who are taking them. It isn't the younger kids as they took one of mine I had in the upper right hand corner of the door. So the person who took it was at least 5'5''. Lois

Gracious. What is wrong with people taking things. Hmmmmm ...... thinking of ****y traps now .......:rolleyes1

:rotfl: Oh my gosh you guys crack me up! :thumbsup2

ntheory, Welcome! :cool1: We're a wild and crazy crew, as you can probably already tell! My brother is an Active duty Marine stationed in San Diego. :thumbsup2 I'm sailing with my 3 year old daughter, my geek hubby, and my geek Mom.

DH now has pinkeye, so my nice calm catch-up weekend won't be. I'm going to be dashing around instead. :laundy: and shopping, etc.

Thanks for the welcome. We're a bunch of (sci-fi loving) geeks, too, but ..... we all know that geeks get it done! :)

It's good to know that you have a 3 year old, too. My dd is soooooooo excited about going on the big boat with Mickey for her birthday.
