Just wanted to drop by and say hi!!!! Hope everybody had a good Monday!

It's only 5 days until my DBF and I go to WDW with my family! I'm so excited!!!! I'm a bit nervous about some of the reports about the huge tour groups, but I just keep telling myself that it is WDW and not to worry. I know it's going to be crowded and hot, it is summer after all, but I'm excited just to be back at my happy place! :)

Thanks for the review and also for the heads up:thumbsup2 I have not seen it on stage, but I did know about the premise. I am different than many (okay MOST:rotfl2: ) Americans in what I am comfortable with the kids seeing. I am MORE freaked out by violence (especially glorified or gratuitous stuff) than most parents I know (and the numebr of PG movies I see that strike me as way too violent seems to further prove that I am not on the same wave length as many people out there:rolleyes1 ) So, back to today's earlier discussion we won't be seeing Batman. On the other hand, I don't get very worked up about sex (unless it is violent or controlling) or langauge (unless it is just there to be in your face and is really a big part of the movie). And, I think that movies which deal with REAL issues in sensitive and intelligent ways and give us a chance to talk are a good thing (even if they do then have some violence, etc.--like discussing WHY it was very appropritate for Marty to punch BIff in Back to the Future when BIff is trying to force himself on Lorraine and why she has every right to say no, etc.). So, all that leads to me having a 9 year old boy whose favourite movies include Grease (and yes the kids can tell you al about how smoking is not good, changing your image for soemone else is not a good thing, how Danny treats and refers to women--Greaswe Lightening eeek-- is really not acceptable, etc.), Footloose, Back to the Future and Dirty Dancing:rotfl2: All of which I KNOW most parents would not approve of and I do understand why-but I just take a different approach to that stuff than most people:upsidedow
:lmao: I guess I just gave you WAY more information than you wanted just because you were kind enough to give me a heads up about a movie--sorry I tend to get carried away:rolleyes1

Hadley, you're awesome :thumbsup2
Much the same way my Mom raised me! There is absolutely no violence in the movie, and everything is done very respectfully, if that makes any sense. It is SUCH a fun film, you guys will have a blast. Definitely soundtrack-worthy!

Oooh, have fun!
We have not been to Disney since May - how sad is that? We live so close! We need to get back out there too......hot, schmot! It's Disney! lol

Good to see your hello. I am sure you will have fun at Disney no matter the crowds. One thing I know for those of us who truly LOVE WDW is we can have fun even if we never rde anything. Sometimes just people watching and catching a parade can make for a lovely day. We were at Magic Kingdom on NYE 1999--the Millineum and it was VERY crowded. I think htey closed the gates within 45 minutes of opening:eek: We only rode Peter Pan once and then the TTA and COP and just watched some of the many extra shows WDW is so good at adding when corwds are through the roof and people watched and it was a great day (very different than an office season day when we can ride everything--but fabulous in its own special way). I am pretty sure being there with your DBF and his family will be so special that will make up for the inconvenience of a tour group or two (or thirty;) ).

Hadley, knowing you and knowing Rio and Marika, and what I know about yours and Rio's tastes in movies, you guys will LOVE it! We saw it today, and it was exactly what I hoped it would be. Erica is right, Meryl is incredible, and I personally loved the entire cast, although Rob had serious issues with Pierce Brosnan and the groom to be. However, Rob and I both agree it's not going to be a movie everyone will like. The way I see it is, if you can find the cinematic genius in such gems as Grease 2, Xanadu, and Can't Stop The Music (With a touch of the film versions of Jesus Christ Superstar and Godspell thrown in for good measure), then you will appreciate this movie.

We just found out last night that our flight was changed as well. They initially bumped us to a flight that wouldn't get us there until 6 hours later than we anticipated, but we called and they put us on an earlier flight. Hearing the stories of cancellations altogether, I still don't trust it. Going to keep a close eye on it over the next two months.

Hehe, so glad I am not the only one, I wind up copying and typing the[] with quote in the middle:rotfl2:

I like your way of thinking when it comes to movies, we too let our kids watch a lot of movies others may not, also use them as a learning experience.
I will say that my kids REALLY want to see Titanic but I wont let them watch it before we cruise, DD has an obsessive personality like her mama and would be a WORRY WART the whole cruise!

My kids Love Back to the Future and Edward Scissorhands is a new favorite of theirs:) Gotta love Johnny Depp YUM

Oh my goodness--I had totally forgotten about Edward Scissorhands. I am going right away to Netflix to add it to hte queue. THANK YOU for reminding me. Oh and I am glad I am not hte only one who sees things that way (and I have to agree about Titanic--Marika is my worry wort and were she to see it she would be in quite a state on board:scared1: ).

And CHRIS--Thanks for the added :thumbsup2 in favour of Mama Mia. You do know our tastes so to the movie we will go (we are hoping to manage it on Wednesday).:)

Well there are now only two direct flights out of Milwaukee.
So I sucked it up and paid more for my flight.

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I thought I was being clever flying one airline to MCO and a different one back. It was cheaper.

However it is ended up to be deopitmization. Also limiting my choices since one leg is canceled. I cannot easily change whole intinerary to Chicago.

Hopefully the price will drop and I will get Price Assurance from Orbitz.

Oh no, I hope all of you with flight issues get them resolved quickly and inexpensively!!

Anyway, I am in the market for a new camcorder. I want a small handheld one that would be easy to take along. My cousin has one that tapes on a memory card and she hates it. I wanted one that either tapes on the mini tapes or DVD's I think. Does anyone have any suggestions? I also do not want to pay an arm and a leg..........I want to keep those for cruising and still have enough $$ left over for a few drinks......

Thanks,
Crissi

We are looking into buying a new camcorder before the trip too! Would love some suggestions as well.

To do the multi quote you click on the middle box on the lower right hand side with the " marks in it. It will save each post you want to answer and when you are ready hit the Post Reply and it will put each post into yours. Then make your remarks and hit submit. It is easy and took me forever to figure it out.

Update on flights. I still have not gotten through to Midwest but I understand that they are offering a refund so I booked new flights on Air Tran. Hopefully they will not get cancled. Lois

So just got back from the new batman movie - very good :thumbsup2

I think someone asked me if they should take young kids to it - its kind of dark and scary for younger ones - Heath Ledger is especially creepy as the Joker :scared1:
Ohh I can't wait to see it. I'm hoping to catch it on Wednesday:goodvibes
Socutsmom99--I adore your dress. Beautiful:love:
Oh thank-you! I can't wait to see the Pink Barbie Dress in person.
Well since a lot of you are wearing tuxes and gowns, I guess we will be the casual family. So don't be offened we just don't have space in our luggage for formal dress.
I don't think anyone will be offended because you aren't bringing your formal dress.
Argh.
Orlando is now a seasonal destination for Midwest. But in order to establish a season they have decided to stop service right during our cruise.
That stinks...I hope you are able to find some other flights
I have, I have! It's great. I don't know if you've seen the stage version, but it takes what was great about that one and makes it even better. Meryl Streep is AWESOME. It's very very fun.

Hadley, have you seen it or do you know the premise? It's a little bit more "adult" than you would expect, but nothing over the top. Just some sexual innuendos and such. After all, it is based on the fact that Sophie has 3 men who could potentially be her father......

I loved it. It was very hard not to sing along! But I doubt anyone in the theatre was there to hear my screechy voice ;) you'll love it!
Ohh thanks for this review. This is also on my list to see. We saw previews for it before Sex in the City last month.

I hope you guys have a wonderful stay. Crowded or not, it beats a day at work!!
Oh and I am glad I am not hte only one who sees things that way
We were brought up the same way in our family and I think we all turned out just fine:goodvibes

I have a Sony DVD one and it works great I have been very pleased with it.

Glad to hear you got new flights Lois. Good Luck getting a hold of Midwest I bet they have been really busy the past couple days.

Anyway, I am in the market for a new camcorder. I want a small handheld one that would be easy to take along. My cousin has one that tapes on a memory card and she hates it.

Any idea why she hates it?

My brother was just visiting and he has a small digital camcorder that has a large internal memory. He can use memory cards but so far hasn't needed to do so. It connects by USB to the computer to download what is recorded (which can then be put on DVD, etc). He LOVES it. Those run about $300-400. We are looking at the High Def versions which are about $900 but I think they would look sweet on our HD TV.

We have an old one that records to tapes and it is HUGE compared to the little digital ones. My guess is that type of camcorder is on the way out....

She said the quality was not that good for a video.

I too want to get a new camcorder and a new digi cam.

So far I am in the market for either a canon g9 or the s5 thats for a larger camera.. then I start to think well I kind of want a camera that I can just put in my lil black purse or back pocket like one of the Elph SD powershots. UGG so many to choose from.

As for camcorder was thinking a higher version of the flip, cuz it only has 2x zoom and I know I will want something better. OH man if only money really did grow on trees. I have been reading and obsessing over digi cams for months. and now... throwing a camcoder into the mix is killing me LOL

ATTENTION SCRAPBOOKERS: I just made the discovery that Cricut is coming out with new Disney cartridges in the coming months. They are Tinkerbell and Friends (yea!!) and Cars. There's also Hello Kitty and Sesame Street coming out. I posted pics on the Scrapbooking forum if you want to check it out. :goodvibes

So much to catch up on.....

Amy, I can't wait to hear about you, Dave, and your family' WDW trip! I'm sure you're about to burst with excitement. Have a wonderful time!

Ouch to all of you with the flight issues. Ugh! Why do I fear this is not the end? Good luck!

As far as formal wear goes, if you're not coming to dinner in formal attire, no one is going to care!! So have no worries and don't think that you shouldn't go to the dining rooms!! We want to see you, not your ties and dresses anyways. :)

Mamma Mia! THANK YOU for the reviews. I think I'm going to head out and see it this week. I can't wait! I completely love the Broadway show. Erica, I'm not sure if I'll have the restraint to refrain from opening up in song. :rotfl:

I am 95% finished with the fish extender gifts being ready to pack up for shipment! It's a great feeling knowing that this task, although very fun, is nearly finished. Just makes it one more step closer!! :woohoo: Speaking of....
OMG!! Do you see my ticker? there is a "1" in front of the word "month"!! :cheer2:

While working off of Drea's lists for the FE's this weekend, I made a new cruiser discovery! Georgia3 (aka Tracy) is on our list, but I haven't seen her on the DISboards. If you're out there lurking, Tracy, welcome! I tried to look you up, but don't see a DISer name of Georgia3. I do see, however, that you're signed up on our website! Perhaps you frequent CruiseCritic dot com, which is another place we have people joining our group. Since you're on the website, I thought I would let you know that I added James' birthday to the "We're Gonna Celebrate" thread...he might get a kick out of that. :) I hope we get to know you as well before we set sail!

Sunday, I put DM & DGM to work on the FEs themselves. They got so excited, that I think they made 5 at least of them, and DGM took ome of my fabric to make more! So it looks like we'll have a different FE for every day! :rotfl2:

We also went shopping for fabric for my pirate costume this weekend. GDM already has her's finished, all the way down to the hat. pirate: It's so cute to see her so excited. While shopping, I found a STEAL on formalwear fabric. So I asked her if she would make me a new dress. I got this fabric for $3.50 a yard. Amazing! I'm anxious to see how it turns out.

I promised to get back on the number of DD8s on our cruise. There are a total of eight princesses at the age of 8. Now that our numbers should be rather solid, I'll pull together stats on all ages/sex this week for all to see. I hope there are some kids getting to know one another on the Kids' Forum on our website!

Ha! It was on the other night....the kids wanted to watch it, so I figured what the heck...they were engrossed. We talked about it afterwards and I explained how much safer ships are nowadays, that this is why we do the safety drill, that there are enough lifeboats for everyone and then some, etc. etc. They did not fail to notice the resemblance to the Magic and Wonder in design. And now they want to see the Discovery Channel shows that dive down to see the wreckage...talk about obsessive!:rotfl:

I am *so* glad we don't have to fly.....all this crapola the airlines are pulling would drive me nuts. I'm sorry ya'll have to put up with this nuisance, I just hope it doesn't cause any real logistics problems for anyone...

We are looking into buying a new camcorder before the trip too! Would love some suggestions as well.

As you can see by my name VIDEOMAN...this is what I do...While I use high quality, professional cameras....which I will not be bringing along...I also have ones that I use for my personal life.... I only purchase JVC products...They are the company that has the most up-to-date products and are the inovative in the industry...

For those of you looking into a new camcorder without breaking the bank but still giving you superior quality and ease of use I recomend the following

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/537779-REG/JVC_GR_D870_GR_D870_MiniDV_Camcorder.html

I purchase most of my products thru B&H and never had a problem so shop in confience

Gramdma4ever, Fatcat & Scoobypop ~ Having been through the trama of flight cancellation a few weeks ago, I feel for you

We too had to rebook and suck up the higher prices to do so. I check my flights everyday now. :surfweb:

Good luck with new flights.....have patience.
