OMG I just heard that our flights from MCI To MCO have be cancled. Not just moved but the airline is not flying to Orlando at all. I am on hold and waiting to see what our options are going to be. We were flying Midwest. If you are booked on Midwest might want to assure you still have a flight. Lovely night!! Lois

Whoa. We are flying Midwest too but out of Milwaukee so it appears that we are ok. Midwest is actually a pretty good airline too. Shame they are getting beat up like all the other ones.

What I read is that from September 8th through October 20th they were not going to Orlando at all and after that all flights will go through Milwaukee. I hope you are right but I am not sure. Disneypoor says they are only offering a refund, I would be happy to have a connecting flight just to have a flight. Ok that isn't really honest I would be willing but not happy to have a connecting flight. Lois

I actually shipped something to one of the ships last week - I can't remember if it was the Wonder or the Magic. :confused3

It was pretty easy. Here is the address and instructions I used from a sticky on the Cruise Forum:

Sending packages ahead of time to the ship:

PLEASE follow these instructions carefully!!!!!!

-ONE box per stateroom, no exceptions.

-The package must have the guest full name, ship, sailing date, stateroom number or GTY if you have not been assigned a stateroom number.

-The package also must have a packing slip attached to the outside of the box that details the contents of the package. For prescriptions, a copy of the prescription is sufficient. Your list may or may not be read but it must have one. Write packing slip on the outside of the envelope.

-NO FOODS/DRINKS OF ANY KIND, LIQUOR OF ANY KIND, FIREARMS, ETC.. This may cause the dogs to hit on your box and that would be a bad thing.

- The required size of the cartons you are shipping down have to be about the size of a record storage box 12 inches on a side and should not weigh more than 20 lbs. (This has been asked personally by Dave Adams who is the owner)

Address your package(s) to:

IDS c/o (Ship Name) / Ground Services
Guest Name / Stateroom # (GTY, if you don't know what it is when you send the package)
9001 Marlin Street
Cape Canaveral, FL 32920

In the bottom left corner of the top of the package put the following information:ATTN: HOUSEKEEPING

Packages must arrive by 5:00 PM on Friday for Saturday and Sunday sailings.

Packages must arrive by 5:00 PM on Wednesday for Thursday sailings.

If your box is hit on by the screening dog or chosen for additional screening they will open the list and the box and look through it. They will close it back up and provided nothing bad is in it then it will be in your room as usual later after boarding.

These boxes will be coming on the ship with the crew mail among other things so they may be in the staterooms later then they were before as they are low priority in the scheme of things for Disney.

Tiffany

Thank you :)

So just got back from the new batman movie - very good :thumbsup2

I think someone asked me if they should take young kids to it - its kind of dark and scary for younger ones - Heath Ledger is especially creepy as the Joker :scared1:

My 10 year old wanted to see it. Does it just show scary stuff or sex scenes? It's hard to tell if a lot of movies are R because of sex scenes or violence.

LOTS LOTS LOTS of violence and a very dark plotline. I frankly was not comfortable with the number of under-13 munchkins in the theatre. It really wasn't a kid movie. Heath Ledger did an AWESOME job turning the Batman concept into an adult movie.

Only a few smooches and no nudity. Quite a bit of adult language and graphic portrayal of violence. This movie really showed the Joker off as a truly scary guy; he cuts up quite a few people, and his dialogue is quite violent.

Watch it before your kid does. You'll see what I mean. This isn't a Danny DeVito funny movie.

Well since a lot of you are wearing tuxes and gowns, I guess we will be the casual family. So don't be offened we just don't have space in our luggage for formal dress.

Argh.

Orlando is now a seasonal destination for Midwest. But in order to establish a season they have decided to stop service right during our cruise.

From Midwest

Tampa will be the only Florida city we will serve on a year-round basis. Flights will be operated on Boeing 717 aircraft. We will continue nonstop service between Milwaukee and Orlando, but only seasonally. During the transition, we will suspend service Sept. 8 through Oct. 20, and then resume it Oct. 21, 2008 through April 30, 2009.

My 6 year old is ALL over seeing this movie - he is so excited for it.:headache:

What kills me is ALL of the marketing they do to young kids - all the new Batman toys out at Target, commercials, etc. I'm surprised there isn't a freakin' kid's meal toy for it! Other PG-13 movies are the same way - like Spiderman - and they did have a kid's meal toy for that one.

For those who saw the first Batman (Batman Begins I think?) and the 3 Spiderman movies - is this one more violent? It seems to be from the reviews I've read. I've read the "family film" reviews where it details the violence but it is hard to actually tell what they show vs. what they imply.

Lois and Chris--I am SORRY about your flights. I can't imagine the stress of having the flights cancelled at this point. I sure hope you are able to figure something out quickly so you can rest easy again.

Lois--I seem to recall that you are not fond of Southwest. You may want to price them for your dates though. I just to $248 round trip from MCI to MCO when I checked for Sept. 26 to Oct 4. This late in the game that may be about as good as it gets (and at least they still do not charge for the first TWO pieces of luggage).

Chris--I can't remember where you are flying from to make any sugestions. I think you are smart to see what/if insurance will cover.

Okay, fill me in on the Pirate Excursion in Grand Cayman, or direct me to the post to read about it. I just saw some pictures posted on the Doubledip website, and I was intrigued, so I went and booked the 9:30 excursion. You may recall I also have the Rasul scheduled for 8-8:50 that morning. Will we have enough time to put on a swimsuit, grab the kids and make the 9:30 excursion? :yay:

So the kids and I are trying very hard to figure out WHEN this week we can work in seeing Mama Mia. Has anyone seen it yet? How was it?

I have, I have! It's great. I don't know if you've seen the stage version, but it takes what was great about that one and makes it even better. Meryl Streep is AWESOME. It's very very fun.

Hadley, have you seen it or do you know the premise? It's a little bit more "adult" than you would expect, but nothing over the top. Just some sexual innuendos and such. After all, it is based on the fact that Sophie has 3 men who could potentially be her father......

I loved it. It was very hard not to sing along! But I doubt anyone in the theatre was there to hear my screechy voice ;) you'll love it!

Sorry to hear about flights being canceled. Airline travel is such a hassle. When dh is around, we drive everywhere we can.

Thanks for the review and also for the heads up:thumbsup2 I have not seen it on stage, but I did know about the premise. I am different than many (okay MOST:rotfl2: ) Americans in what I am comfortable with the kids seeing. I am MORE freaked out by violence (especially glorified or gratuitous stuff) than most parents I know (and the numebr of PG movies I see that strike me as way too violent seems to further prove that I am not on the same wave length as many people out there:rolleyes1 ) So, back to today's earlier discussion we won't be seeing Batman. On the other hand, I don't get very worked up about sex (unless it is violent or controlling) or langauge (unless it is just there to be in your face and is really a big part of the movie). And, I think that movies which deal with REAL issues in sensitive and intelligent ways and give us a chance to talk are a good thing (even if they do then have some violence, etc.--like discussing WHY it was very appropritate for Marty to punch BIff in Back to the Future when BIff is trying to force himself on Lorraine and why she has every right to say no, etc.). So, all that leads to me having a 9 year old boy whose favourite movies include Grease (and yes the kids can tell you al about how smoking is not good, changing your image for soemone else is not a good thing, how Danny treats and refers to women--Greaswe Lightening eeek-- is really not acceptable, etc.), Footloose, Back to the Future and Dirty Dancing:rotfl2: All of which I KNOW most parents would not approve of and I do understand why-but I just take a different approach to that stuff than most people:upsidedow
:lmao: I guess I just gave you WAY more information than you wanted just because you were kind enough to give me a heads up about a movie--sorry I tend to get carried away:rolleyes1

We are doing the Pirate encounter, but we decided to do the 11:45, the night before is a night at Sea and the adults plan to party a little bit :drinking1, 9:30 seemed TOO early to get all 10 of us and bout, we figured we could enjoy breakfast and maybe a quick dip in the Mickey Pool while everyone is on the early excrusions.
