So, we are leaving in two and a half weeks for WDW with my family and my dad falls this morning while jogging and splits his chin open AND breaks his jaw! :scared: So he has stitches (which will be out before we go to WDW), but he's probably going to need surgery on his jaw...and we got the DDP! Oh well...overall this is nothing (I've been following this woman's post on the Caring and Compassion board about her husband who is in hospice and is going to die any day) so I keep telling myself that. My sister who is still on the cruise in Canada is nervous for him though...I would be too if I wouldn't be at home. I talked to him and he's doing fine...well...he can't move his mouth that much and he jarred his neck when he fell so she's not moving his neck much either...but overall his is fine.

It's been an interesting day! :)

We might have another change, that's why I didn't pm you yet. I'll let you know. We're trying to see if they can switch either our cabin or in-laws to adjoining, that way it'll be easier with the kids. We're both in adjoining cabins, adjoining to other people, though our reservations are linked.

We are booked at the 9:30 am time slot. We are morning people and want to have plenty of time to visit the Rum Cake store! Keven said he will need a lot of extra suitcase space for his Rum Cakes he is bringing home. :lmao:

What other times were offered? We also hope to do this!

Glad your Dad is ok!

Glad your Dad is ok!

Me too! I could have been a lot worse. He really snapped his neck back, so I'm glad he didn't break his neck. It will be a pain for a few weeks, but everything will be ok.

Does anyone recognize these hotel descriptions from Hotwire?
3 star at $75 w/amenities:
  • pool
  • laundry facilities
2.5 star at $69 w/amenities:
  • near beach
  • fitness center
  • pool
  • high speed internet access

I still need to make pre-trip ressies & want to make sure we actually end up w/a hotel where we can park the van during cruise.

Thanks!

I think it's the Days Inn and Suites. I booked this hoping it was the other one, but ended up with Days Inn. :confused3 I did a 2 1/2 star and paid $69 ($82.96 after tax). Hope this is a decent hotel or motel. I don't really care since it's one night.

OK....I spent this ugly afternoon fixing this bad boy up:

It has listed the following: days, dates, ports & times, shows & times, dress & menus, dinner rotations & times, the drink of the day, and a notes section.

I have uploaded it to 4 shared for any of you who want to snag it and personalize it up for yourselves: click here
Here is a screenshot:

LOVE this!! Thank you, so cool!!

Hey it is Monday and I am actually remembering to post a Question of the week! It seems we talk a lot about television shows on this thread. So. . .
What is your favourite TV show (past or present)?

Me- 90210.. lol First thing that popped into my head. I love reality tv too (Big Brother, Deliver Me, Cops, etc) And of course Grey's.
Mike- The Academy (LOVE this show about cops going through the academy.. lol)
Jaren- Spongebob
Braden- iCarly

I can't watch the show anymore - the show stresses me out. Gordon Ramsey was wonderful to Heather. She flew to London and met his family. She did some HSN work for him - she said he's just an amazing guy. He actually filmed a Kitchen Nightmares show at a restaurant close by and my dh and I ended up as background people - it was such a fluke that he ended up in Heather's hometown to work on his other show.

Yes, that show stresses me out too.. lol  How cool you know somebody that was on there. We were on America's Funniest Home Videos about 8 years ago. One day my neighbor was watching it and had no idea we were on it. He came running across the street to tell us.

Tiffany

So on this excursion do you visit a store that sells the rum cake?

What is your favourite TV show (past or present)?

Me-Dharma and Greg (I a msooooo Dharma and Dave is soooo Greg:rotfl2: )
Dave-Star Trek The Next Generation
Marika-She's still not here but probably Star Trek TNG
Rio-The Muppet Show (runner's up: Home Improvement, Dick Van **** Show and The Adam's Family--Rio is my couch potato:rolleyes1 )

I'd have to say ALF

Disneygirl02--I am sure glad your father's injuries were on the relatively minor side and I sure hope he heals up well and can really enjoy WDW (if he is feeling up to it at all hopefully that will be great medicine:goodvibes )

Thanks for the spreadsheet thats awsome.

I have spent the day going thru my kids closets and pricing all of thier last years stuff for sale at a local kids sale making money for more..hahaha

:woohoo:

Ok.....we need an official "DOTD caller" to find this out for us! :rolleyes1 what?
Jen, I downloaded your spreadsheet! I love it! Even Lionel loved it, which is rather impressive. Though I think he admires it more for the mad excel skillz than the actual content, being a computer teacher....

I had to send this quote to my friend, who was also our software/hardware instructor at work. She'll be so glad to see something sunk in, since I was such a bad girl in class...I was one of those that was waaaaay ahead of everyone and covertly taking pics with my cell phone and then sending them to the training email, which would pop up on her overhead projector...hee hee hee... I'm sure Lionel can relate!;)

The rum cake.

I love rum.

I love cake.

Why is it I can't wrap my head around this rum cake? I keep having visions of fruit cake dancing through my head (and they're not pleasant visions - LOL).

Is it like pound cake soaked in rum?

Kind of. Its not like dripping in rum, anyway, but they are pretty dense. So delicious. They come in flavors like Key Lime, Chocolate, Pineapple, etc. My fave is original cause it has walnuts in it

 Glad to hear your dad is doing ok. I had to have some jaw surgery and had my jaw broken a few years ago and it wasn't fun, but very manageable lots of smoothies and shakes to drink!

I love The Riches! Minnie Driver and Eddie Izzard are both supremely awesome. Gotta love two Brits doing Texas accents!

Interesting day indeed!! I'm glad your dad is doing alright thus far. Hope if he has to have surgery it goes well & that he mends quickly. That must have been some fall!!

Is anyone doing the Boatswain Beach shore excursion on your own? It seems so simple to find transportation and just go for it. Any suggestions or comments?

My aunt and uncle have been cruising the Caribbean on their sailboat for the past two years. Not sure where the recipe came from, but following is an excellent rum cake recipe:

1 - 18 1/2 oz. yellow cake mix
1 - 3 3/4 oz. vanilla pudding mix
1/2 cup oil
4 eggs
1/2 cup cold water
1/2 cup rum (I use Malibu!)

Mix all cake ingredients and pour into greased bundt pan. Bake at 325 for one hour.

While cake is cooking, mix glaze in saucepan.

Glaze:
1 stick butter
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup water

Boil 5 minutes. Remove from heat and add 1/2 cup rum.

When cake is done and still in pan, prick top with fork and pour glaze over cake. Let cool (or not!) and turn onto a serving plate.

Trust me, it's wonderful!! Enjoy!

This is post number 10, so I can finally PM you, but the info you e-mailed me is correct for our lanyards. Thanks so much!
