Oh, :-P !! I hate it when places do stuff like that. We've run into that type of thing here at home as well.......in NC of all places - the birthplace of stockcar racing.

Don't they know racing is a sport, too? I'm not into football all that much...... I could argue about it being a sport worth watching. ;) Not trying to :stir: just stating my opinion.

Do the football channels at least run a ticker of race stats at the bottom of the screens during the games?

**now crawling back into a hole so those of you who love football don't laugh at me for asking such a silly question**

Crissi--Sending best wishes your way & praying for your family...please keep us posted on the progress...

I had a mini-vacation for myself the past few days. Reese goes to a local gym weekly for sports/gymnastics/whatever and during the summer, they hold 3 hour camps for the kids. This week, it was Pirate Camp & he was all excited about THAT! So while he played in the gym for 3 hours each day, I sat on the big comfy couch at the gym & read, cover to cover, TWO books! Oh, it was wonderful :woohoo: Usually, I'm trying to remember what I read at the last stopping point, so to sit for 3 hours uninterrupted was bliss. I could have gone home & done reading, but home is 1 hour round trip away, and if I'm home, things like laundry & dishes call my name. At the kid's gym, I have NOTHING to do except relax. Ahhhhhh...I was so excited when Reese said he wanted to do two more weeks of camps in the next 6 weeks... I can still watch him have a blast while I get lots of time to relax myself...

Hope everyone is having a great day...we're baking brownies & taking them to a neighbor's house for their (adult) daughter's funeral tomorrow. Died of a sudden heart attack at Six Flags on Tuesday. She was 38, and it happened in front of her twin 8 year old girls. Life is so hard sometimes...

How sad. She was only 38...that is very scary, her poor daughters.

Welcome back Kimberly! :goodvibes

Im thinking that since so many of us will be changing dinning, trying to get palo etc we should move our meet to the Route 66 are LMAO :rotfl:

:lmao: :thumbsup2

For those who have been on the cruise before how was the spa? What treatments have you done before? I'm looking at everything they offer trying to pick. I think I have it narrowed down to 3 different things at this point (doing a spa villa, the spa tester, and the aromastone therapy).

Lionel and I have done the Rasul, which is wonderful, and the Rain Forest room, which is also wonderful. Both are very reasonably priced. I have never had a massage there, but I am having one on CC this time! :lovestruc Also, did the pedicure once and was not impressed. AT ALL.

I wanted to do the spa villa with Lionel, but he's not a big fan of massages :confused3 so that money is best spent elsewhere.....like on drinks of the day! And rum cakes :thumbsup2

Just wanted to drop by and say hi to everyone! I worked at the Disney Store tonight and wait until you see what is coming out!!!! I'll tell you, it's cute! :yay:

My dad is doing well...my mom just asked me what I wanted for dinner tomorrow night that is soft! :lmao: We're just very happy he doesn't need it wired shut.

Hope everybody had a great day! :)

Try some soup! :thumbsup2
Glad to hear he is doing better.

Hi everyone.......it's been a VERY LONG DAY.........I got a call from my sister at 2PM that my Grandfather was taken to the hospital and he had an aortic anurism (I 'm sure the spelling is wrong) and he was going in for surgery.......they gave him a 5% chance of making it through (he is 91). I left work in a tizzy to meet the rest of my family at the hospital. He made it through surgery and now is in ICU. I got to talk to him and he did respond by shaking his head and he was looking at me so that is as good as it could be right now. At this point, all we can do is pray that he pulls through the next couple of days at least. Sorry for rambling but I needed to vent........

I can't imagine losing him even if he is 91.

Hope everyone's day was better than mine!

Crissi

Crissi,

Wow. That is so sad. You know, even working near the level one trauma (we do their rehab) in Orlando and seeing what I see every day, things like this still get me. Life is just so precious! We just never know what is going to happen. One day, you wake up and everything is upside down. Note to self: hug Lionel extra hard when he gets home.

Hi all,
I just wanted to be chatty for a moment and share my day. I walked in the Relay for Life about 1 1/2 months ago and met a police officer who thought my DS (4 years old) was soooo cute. She offered to give a tour of the police station and after a bit of trying we were able to set the day up today. He loves anything police, fire or ambulance related. I didn't tell him and we showed up at the station and he so surprised. We got a tour of the station and the cars (the actual booking station is located elsewhere in town so this was mainly offices). Then, they called the local EMS station and told them we were coming over. An unexpected surprise for both of us. The EMS station was super nice and let him climb in several trucks, start the sirens, flash the lights and talk on the radio. He was allowed to lay on the stretcher, move the stretcher position and even scanned my heart on the heart monitor and printed out a report. Needless to say he had a blast. The day was just about perfect.

I just wanted to share with you all and let you know that if any of your children are interested in a particular career most places are more than willing to give tours or more info. We have toured the firestation about 3 times and even had them come to his birthday party (another surprise he didn't know about until it happened). They came for free and we gave a donation and a piece of cake. The children are still talking about how that was the "coolest" party and we didn't even really do much planning, just a simple call to fire department.

Have a great day everyone.:cloud9:

2goofy2luv - what a great idea! Sounds like you really had a great time and he was learning as he was having fun!!!

Football does run a ticker on the bottom. I would never laugh at your questions. We just love football! I am devastated to hear about your neighbor's daughter. You put things in perspective when you hear about those stories. Suddenly what time I get to the ship doesn't seem so important. :)

I started watching Lost this past season and needless to say "I AM LOST"
I definitely need to watch from the first season forward unless anyone can get me up to speed. Jack is my favorite and then Sawyer (he has that tough outer shell, but is just a lost and lonely boy on the inside (like Alex on Grey's).

I am with you - I had never watched lost and finally decided to rent the first season, disc one and watched it on a plane - bad idea - since it is about a PLANE CRASH :scared1:

Anyways, just finished season 2 - completely hooked, now have sis and mom hooked - its my mission to make all in my clutches a Lost fan pirate:

I watch the Young and the Restless. I have watched for 24 years. I cannot imagine giving it up :thumbsup2 .

:cheer2: Finally another Y&R fan - I have watched just about as long as you - my grandma got me hooked as a small child - now DH is completely hooked as well - loves victor. So what is up with Chloe that :stir:

Dh planned our cruise last year on a bi week. :lmao: He didnt want to miss a game.

John will be there watching the Steelers play whatever time they are on. I went into the lounge last year and it was packed.

CrazyZeus: so sorry to hear about your friend. how sad.

I doubt there would be a ticker for racing updates during a football game. Even so, it wouldn't be the same as actually watching it live - especially when the 'big one' (wreck) happens. However, I'm not usually watching football during a race, so I may be completely wrong. Been known to happen.......

Ok, sounds like I may be competing w/all y'all football fans on Sunday afternoon if the race isn't broadcast in our rooms. :) I wouldn't sit & watch the entire thing, but it would be nice to catch some of it live.

So sorry to hear about your neighbor's daughter, Heather. Erica is so right - things can change in an instant. There's definitely no guarantee for tomorrow.

What a wonderful mini-break, Heather. As an addict to sci-fi/fantasy books I understand completely.

Monisa:
What a cool thing to do for your son! I know he had an absolute blast!

I'm planning on taking Emmie tomorrow night or Saturday night to a speciality horse show in Raleigh. She knows nothing about it - will be a complete surprise. The girl is horse-crazy. I think the highlight for her at the fireworks display we went to this year was getting to ride the ponies that were there. Of course, I really like horses too so there's no arm-twisting involved for me to take her. DH on the other hand.............

:happytv:

Oh ain't that the truth! Jeff wants Reese & I to come to the sports lounge with him before the game starts.

Last cruise, they took a vote of people there who wanted to watch which games (weren't enough TVs to watch all games?). Jef said he almost missed the Bears game because he was about outvoted for the Vikings game I believe. Luckily, a couple walked in last minute and saved him because they too wanted to see the Bears game. :)

So this cruise, I've been asked to come vote for the Bears...hehehehe:clown:

Crissi:

Maggie and rkandmjsmommy: I am trying to recreate the issues you guys mentioned. Do you mind if I mess with your accounts? I can't seem to see anything except if you don't type in your password right the first time, the website won't actually check the password on subsequent tries. That's rather annoying!

Have at it m'lady!:surfweb: Please let me know if it's something I'm doing wrong...not that THAT could possibly be it....:rolleyes1

Thanks again for all your help!:cheer2:

Crissi...:sad1: I'm so sorry to hear about your grandfather...my thoughts and prayers go out to you hun...please keep us posted.

Erica...I have to agree with you on the pedicure...was NOT impressed AT ALL; big disappointment!

As for Nascar - I have to say I have NEVER been a fan but this year I actually watched the D-500 (instead of mocking it) and I have to say I enjoyed it quite a bit. We're HUGE TB Bucs fans so my DH and I are looking forward to watching the game on Sunday in Diversions as well as the USF Bulls on Thursday...woo-hoo...GO BUCS/BULLS!!!

For All You Football Fans:
MY NYG have a bye

Yep, yep. We're rite there with you Maggie. Ron's crazy when it comes to the Bucs games. Its worse now that we gave up our season tickets. We have to try hard not to be on vacation during a game and if we are....well....we have to find a way to watch or hear it at all costs. One time we happened to be in Rhode Island- and he had to scan the stupid radio for hours trying to find some AM station that just might be playing the Bucs...wouldn't you know, he found one.

In fact there's quite a few Tampa-ns on this cruise, so I think we'll win the which-channel-do-we-put-on wars!!:thumbsup2

Many thoughts and prayers to you and your family!!
PLEASE keep us up to date with his progress and quick recovery.

Crissi - my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family, especially your grandfather. I pray he's comfortable and heals well and graces you all with his presence for much longer than his 91 years.

Heather - my goodness, your poor neighbors and their darling grandchildren - awful. I feel so awful for the twins. So terribly sad. As others have said, hearing stories like this puts our lives in perspective and makes us so grateful each day that we have time with family and friends. And, not that we aren't entitled to get a little snarky every once in a while when things don't go our way - it certainly helps to remind us when we're doing that just a bit too often, kwim?

I had a fun day today - although it all involved work. We had a huge order of all baby merchandise show up today - so that was a blast unpacking it all with the girls. I love baby things! We actually got these onesies in that have little satin angel wings on the back and on the front it says either "grandma's angel" or "daddy's angel" or "mommy's angel". OMG, so cute. There's even one set that has a little onesie that says "miracle" on the front and has satin wings on the back and little wings on the little baby booties by the heel.

I'm home all alone. My oldest is at work and my dh is still at the store - he's closing tonight. One week from tomorrow, we head up to Vermont to see the kids for parents' weekend. I can't wait! I miss the kids - although, I have to say, it is nice having the whole house to myself tonight! Just ordered some Chinese to be delivered - am watching a Travel Chanel special on Disney that I had recorded and haven't had time to watch - opening a nice bottle of Chilean red wine...oh, this is the life... now, if only someone could go put the laundry from the washer to the dryer, everything would be perfect. :laundy: LOL

Crissi- prayers for your grandfather and your family. We'll light a candle for him.

Julie
