"Double Dip Delight" 09.27.2008 - Chapter 4!

DD and I have been home with stomach virus today!! We are supposed to leave about 3:30 Thursday, as soon as we pick the kids up from school. We'll drive as far as we can Thursday, then arrive at Residence Inn sometime Friday. Please send us some Disney "Magic" and pixie dust that DH and DS don't get this "bug", and that we are all fully recovered for that long drive!!

You are not alone. DS got it last night. I thought it was something he ate - and it still could be - but he's sick again tonight. Praying for everyone planning to 'go on the big boat with Mickey' as my dd puts it.

Not a lot of time to read, as I'm exhausted by our newest medical related crisis. It was so frustrating, having to do with the doc prescribing close to $900.00 worth of meds no insurance will cover, and then expecting me to pay for it. Long story, and our pediatrician ended up reading him the riot act. I love her so much.

But barring a horrendous crisis, or severe and unexpected weather, fire, flood, car accident, etc we leave tomorrow at 7:00 AM.

Suitcases are all in the living room. I have two bottles of Cipro, two small bottles of Bactrin, a bottle of potassium citrate solution, Mirolax, and a bunch of OTC stuff to add to the group pharmacy.

Be good, and we can't wait to meet everyone. I'm planning on taking the kids to the meet up at the lounge, but don't know how cooperative they'll be.

We will have a boy with us who is 11, however, in my opinion, he is a young 11 year old and no clue if he will ever leave his mother's side.. They are going to make him at least check out the kids club..

Maybe he will be more likely to make friends if he meets some kids his age at the meet!

Hair colored? CHECK!

Knew I forgot something- LOL! This is one way people can recognize me - I am 44 yrs old but my hair is pretty much solid white/gray. I figured I should just keep it this way since I'm going to the MNSSHP - I can save money on my witch wig that way...

We are schedule to do this. We did not get a call from Disney. Wonder why.

We got a call our pirate cruise was cancelled on GC also. This call came around 6:30. This was going to be a surprise for the kids so at least they won't be disappointed cause I didn't tell 'em! whew!

I was informed tonight that I "officially" now have a future daughter-in-law!!!

As you know, Amy and Dave are at WDW spending a few days prior to the cruise. They normally call me later in the evening and give me a run down on what they did all day and if Dave calls I get a complete recap of the meals!! However, I didn't expect them to call tonight since they were going to the MNSSHP tonight.

Well, I got a call a little bit ago to tell me that Dave proposed to Amy tonight in front of the castle at the MNSSHP.

Even more to celebrate on the ship!!!!!

That is SOOOOOOOOOOOO Awesome, Kimberly and I have PROOF we knew this was going to happen, we both ahve PM's to prove it! We thougth maybe when they went with Amy's family, then we thought maybe on the crusie with Dave's Family, but how perfect...just the 2 of them, I literally got chills all over my body and tears in my eyes, WOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Congrats Dave & Amy, I cant wait to share the PM's, I know Kimberly will be SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited also!

That's so cool and what a memory of how he proposed. I was just thinking about this today and was going to ask on the boat if you thought the two of them would get married!

Saft travels to everyone! We are leaving before the sun rises Thursday. We are packed and ready to go. I have a lot of things to do tomorrow and hope to squeeze a pedicure in too.

Our Pirate excursion on GC was cancelled too. Disney left a voicemail at about 7:30pm while we were at church. We are now signed up for the Butterfly farm tour. This was our first choice, but our friend Keven wanted to do the Pirate excursion. I'm not going to tell the kids. Megan has a thing for turtles and she is going to flip!

Jen ~ I think if you don't go with a Disney excursion, there is not an age limit for the stingrays. Go to Island Marketing and check out their web site.

We are doing Nativeway www.nativewaywatersports.com for $40 adults and $30 kids any age over 1 yr old. My DS is 4 and Disney wouldn't let him do the stingrays so we booked through Nativeway. They are cheaper and allow younger kids. We would love to have the company if you want to join. We are 9:00-12:15 or something like that you will see it I'm sure.

I checked out Trip Advsor. I love them so imformative and it seems like Moby Dick Tours is very very highly recominded and its cheaper than anything Disney does and sounds like my little guy will have a great time too. They sound very very flexable

I am so dissapointed about the Pirate Encounter being cancelled!!
My son was soooo looking forward to this one. Now what are we going to do?

We just got our boarding passes for our flight tomorrow. Morgan and I are so excited. Dan was so excited, he couldn't contain himself and went back to sleep LOL!!!!!!!

WDW - here we come!!

How do you get the boarding passes? I thought you get them when you check in? It's been a while since I have flown. I can't remember how it works.

OK so then you will be eating several meals outside the park.
If you do not have a car you will have to plan your bus strategy as there are no hotel to hotel buses
If you do have a car and you drive to other resorts for meals be wary of the valet fee


If you are going to choose MK
then may I suggest
Crystal Palace (If you guys are Pooh and friends fans)

Also keep in mind MNSSHP will be going Oct 4 and 5 so the MK will be closing early

May I suggest outside of the park

Boma at the Animal Kingdom Lodge
Chef Mickeys at the Contemporary
Hoop De Due Revue at Fort Wilderness (requires two table credits)


I suggest you make ADR's in advance.
Also Pop Century does not have a sit down restaurant. They do have a food court that does counter service. If you use a table credit there they do have an option for a larger meal for table credit.

I did do reservations a while ago. Oh no, I hope the restaurants we picked are okay. We are not really breakfast people so something small is good for us. We did decide to do breakfast at Boatwrights dining. I thinking I may cancel so we can use it for lunch or dinner. We also booked Planet Hollywood for that evening.
Day 2-Dinner at Narcoosee's at the Grand Floridian. Then counter service for lunch.
Day 3- we will be going to MK (Oct.6) Lunch at Tony's Town Square. That's all I have for now. I figured we would do counter service too. Do you think these places are good? I was hoping for lobster or seafood when I booked, but I heard they don't do that for the dining plan anymore

Tmrw is bitter sweet for me. its the start of my vacation but the same time its the 1yr anniversary of my dad's passing. Feels like it went so fast, weird it was just a yr ago I was telling you all and here its a yr later. Im at ease with it... just feels weird to be getting happy and giddy when I should be sad... well I am.. but ... well Im sure you all get it LOL.

I'm so sorry Drea. I didn't realize it's already been a year. I know he meant a lot to you. You so so lucky to have great memories and a great dad. I wish I had that! How is your mom doing?

Last Disney crusie I went on my Mother-In-Law passed away while we were at sea....Got off the ship to listen to my voice mail and heard the news....Saturday was her birthday also....So it will be hard on my wife...we both miss her dearly

Just wanted to share my good news!!! I picked my husband up at DFW this am - he flew in from Iraq so we'll see ya'll Saturday!!! 18 days of fun filled R & R ahead for us!

I got a call from Disney that the pirate encounter in Grand Cayman is cancelled, the boat is in drydock Not sure what we are going to do now

I did too :-( Anybody else going to try and catch a van/cab for a tour? I am thinking we may do that and then go to the rum factory. Have any of you done that before?

Thanks everyone for all the congrats. I will pass them all on to Amy and Dave on the phone and when I see them on Friday.

It was only appropriate that it was just the two of them! They are both close to their families and each would have felt strange leaving the other family out so it works out perfect to share this moment just between the two of them.

And if anyone remembers (from very early posts), it was only appropriate that this happen at WDW since both met because of their love for Disney. AND it was only right for me to share this with their DISfriends as they actually met by way of the DISboards. Quick recap - Dave found the DISboards after our trip to WSW in 2005 and found a reference to the DISmates. He didn't actually join but he posted his profile. Amy found his profile and since he used the same name, she was able (after doing some sleuthing) to find one of his posts. She PM'd him and they began to communicate through the DIS. After a bit, they exchanged phone numbers and talked for a while then finally met in person. They've been together ever since.

We knew it was only a matter of time until they made it official. Amy is such a joy and fits in so great with our fun loving, boisterous family. She is so genuine and we all loved her from the start. Dave's cousins kept telling him they would keep her in the family regardless of him! The news has spread through the entire family and everyone is very excited.

I don't know that there is an exact date as of yet. I think they would both like to have it fall somewhere between their birthdays (Amy is 10/4 and Dave is 10/29). Of course they are looking into options at WDW but will compare that to options here at home.

I can't wait to see them on Friday so I can make an appropriate fuss over my new future DIL!! Hey - I can now use those initials and I know Amy can't wait to change her signature to show DF instead of DBF!!!

I got a call from Disney Cruise Line that the Pirate Encounter was cancelled too. Don't know why I wasn't home when they called. I hurried up and sighned up for the Grand Cayman Island Tour for 8:15am. I can't believe it was open. I was really looking forward for Pirate Encounter
