I can't believe how close we are now!!! I can't wait!
Two things come to mind:
I read somewhere on here it is a good idea to bring a large photo envelope to put any pictures from Shutters in so they do not get ruined on the way home.
I plan on putting my magnets in them for the trip there so they do not get bent or ruined too!
As far as the group picture is concerned, I think the idea is great to have it done at the first DIS meet, however, From what other seasoned cruisers have said, we will probably not be able to get a photographer from shutters then as they will probably still be busy with people boarding......
So then I thought maybe I should email DU to see if they could arrange something ahead of time?
Input anyone?
Thanks,
Crissi
As far as the envelope...yes for SURE bring something sturdy. Better than an envelope even, like a padded document holder or something really tough. They do sell a photo holder "thing" like that onboard but I can't imagine how much it would co$t. The "folders" they give you to hold your pics are very flimsy, basically card stock thickness, if that. Not much protection at all.
Seems like nobody wants to make a decision on the picture...somebody's going to have to, so go for it Crissi, get with DU and see what they have to say. What would it hurt? Has anyone actually called
DCL and asked if shutters photographers are available then? Its crunch time now, we have to iron out these little details, cause there's only TEN DAYS LEFT!
I cannot believe it is actually here, we've had this cruise booked for over 18 months!!
Alright guys, help me out.
We have never been to Cozumel and I know some of you have. We are discussing the possibility of not going to a beach break but instead just wondering around. When the ship docks, how close are you to things? Like I know in Nassau, you get off and everything is right there. If you want to go to the beaches, etc. you just take a taxi ,etc. and get there.
What is there to do in Cozumel? Does anyone recommend wondering around and then going to a beach by ourselves (we have done that in Nassau) if there is time or desire?
We love the beach but are doing the two Castaway days, the stingray in Grand Cayman and just wondered about the Cozumel things. We really wanted to do the EcoPark and Snorkel but it is not available.
The part that sounded the neatest to me about the Eco Park was you go through some of the jungle and also go to the Punta Sur lighthouse. That sounds fun. Has anyone done that before?
I'm probably not too much help, cause I haven't been there before, but we are setting out on our own in Coz.
We are actually renting a car and we are going to travel the whole island, (hopefully) hitting all the tourist spots like San Gervasio, maybe Punta Sur, some rock bridge something or other (you can tell I've done my research there, can't ya?) some good old fashioned Mehicano bars: Coconuts, Mezcalitos, do some snorkeling and beaching (Playa San Fransisco)...then some shopping at the plaza market on avenida Rafael Melgar, finally Margaritaville (free water trampoline, baby!) The only reason we aren't sure about Punta Sur is the cost, I believe it is $10/pp...and really the only thing we'd be doing there is the lighthouse....and there's one of those on the northern end, also. So we're undecided on that. From my research (I did do SOME) I think you can just head out on your own like you do in Nassau with no problems...just keep in mind for beaches, stick to the west side of thre island (where the ship docks)..the east side is not good for swimming (evil currents and riptides). Most beaches are beach club style, that have the chairs and umbrellas free if you spend a small amount $8-10 on food or drink at the establishment. Some good beaches we my stop at are Playa San Fransisco or Chen Rio. Classy beach clubs are Nachi-Cocom, Uva, and Punta Morena. It is probably too late for you to order one but I got a great map at
cancunmap.com/cozumelmap. It cost about $8 and we did get it in about a week but I know its probably too close for that.
I won't give mine up but I'd be happy to let you look at it if you are still undecided or just want to check it out!

Get with me onboard....did I mention that's in TEN DAYS?!?!?!?!
Hi Double Dippers,
I'm not going on your Double Dip, but will be on the Christmas Double Dip and am here to ask if any of you were planning to post your Navigators when you get back. I know our itinerary is slightly different, with the Grand Cayman and Cozumel days switched, but I'm still anxious to see the Navigators, especially to find out if DCL changes Ocean Quest back to being for tweens 10-14 years old instead of the sole club for the 11-13 group and The Stack for 14-17.
How exciting that you're all going to be on the Magic in just over a week!
Hi Garden girl! If I may speak for the many....it is highly likely someone here will post some navigators, myself lprobably included. I will be doing a TR and *may* post mine (read: I'm sure gonna try!) but my scanner is terrible and gives me a headache every time I try to use it...so I may not be successful. And maybe someone else here will beat me to it, but I just thought I'd answer you that at least I for one do have intentions of getting them up & posted for those coming along behind us. I don't have a PTR so I don't have a title yet, but barring any crazy sea-bound adventures it will have "Back to the Island" and "Double Dip Delight" In the title...watch the TR board for it in (looks at watch), oh about 20 days!
Have a great cruise!!
