Happy Anniversary to Mr & Mrs Epperbiker!!!

AND

Happy Birthday to little Ms. FatCat!!! :cheer2:

Hi everyone...

I am here on the new thread?? lol...is that what this is called? lol...remember I am a newbie. I am going to try my best and keep up and pay attention to what is going on from here on out. I may need a little help here and there so hang with me.

I did want to inform all of you that I my husband and I are so excited and looking forward to the cruise. For those of you who do not know our kids Brianna (10) and Trenton (6) are still as clueless as ever and have no idea they are about to embark on a trip of a lifetime. I know some of you have went numerous times but this is our one shot and it took a long time to get here! We chose to keep it quiet to obviously surprise them but also just in case something crazy happened with weather they wouldnt have anything to be disappointed about. The funny thing is that they ask almost every week if we are ever going to go on the disney cruise and they pray about it too.

I know we are in 1069 which I would assume is somewhere in the very lower end of the ship. My luck we are probably right by the noisiest part of the entire ship like where they drop anchor or something. I really do have the worst luck for some reason!

Anyway, its been great reading about everyone and all of your posts. I think we made the right decision choosing this cruise as everyone so far has been amazing and helpful to the clueless girl from Ohio! Thanks again to Buckeye Gal and all of you others for all of your guidance this far.

Jenn

Welcome what an awesome surprise. I can't wait to meet the family.

Me too! And it's sooooo good!!!

Kimberly: Thanks so much for your hard work! I can't believe I just found us and we're at 5 pages!

Happy Anniverary !!!

Kimberly thanks for Chaper four!

I just read the best post on the main board....

I'm always wondering how much my luggage weighs, don't want it to go over. One cruiser suggested taking your bag to the fitness center to weigh them!

I just bought a hand held travel scale at Target!

Janet and I bought one too. One of our bags is very large and it is too easy to over stuff. Had to rearrange things at the airport last year.

Can't believe we are on page 6 already. I just can't keep up. Hope everyone is doing well and recovering as expected. My Countdown is now 15 days!!!. Just two weeks from my vacation. It is going to go sooo fast!!! Lois

Yeah....you must've missed the question of the week a while back was about travel tips......and several of us' tip was exactly that....buy a luggage scale. Jason and I have one and take it everywhere....and are compulsive about using it when we pack. I pack some stuff, close the suitcase....weigh it, see where I'm at and how much I can put in...and then open it back up and figure out what should go in next. :lmao: We've already got all our hanging garments and most our toiletries packed....and that bag is at 44lb....so I might still find a few small somethings to shove in there!!

We're working very hard to get all our toiletries and hanging stuff into our rolling garment bag, most of our clothes and costumes into our larger rolling suitcase, and then whatever is left try to get into a single duffle bag along with our castaway bag which will have our swim stuff and our Typhoon Lagoon mug. That way we can check the garment bag as mine, the suitcase as Jason's, I can carry our laptop and documents in my computer bag as a carry-on and Jason can carry the duffle as his carry-on. This way we minimize the amount of baggage charges we have to pay. Then once we arrive, we are going to check into our room (which won't be ready), leave our computer bag and the duffle at the bell desk, and head off to Typhoon Lagoon with our swim stuff for the day!

I was just at Target and almost bought a Ghostbusters tshirt for our informal 80's night. They had a few others that were from the 80's. :)

We always just use our scale at home. Ours is a digital scale that will "hold" the numbers for a few seconds after you step off the scale. So I can balance our bag on the scale, take it off, & check the weight real quick.

That wouldn't do much good for some of you shoppers, because coming HOME you wouldn't know if your bag was ok or not!

I can't imagine someone dragging their packed luggage to the gym...:lmao:

BC-Continental-Bag Fee,0134
Continental to charge $15 for first checked bag
Eds: APNewsNow.
HOUSTON (AP) - Continental Airlines Inc. will begin charging
some coach customers $15 for a first checked bag.
Continental announced the move Friday, matching rivals who
already charge for checking a single bag.
The move is effective immediately, the airline said.
Continental said the fee wouldn't apply to elite members of its
frequent-flier program, those in first- or business-class seats,
customers traveling on full-fare economy tickets, or military
personnel and their families traveling on official orders.
Shares of the company added 19 cents to $18.12 in morning
trading.

Here's the page on their website, because I find "effective immediately" to be a bit vague. This policy applies to tickets purchased today and later, for travel in October.

Hope that helps!

Straggling over to our new thread - late but here! :)

Someone (Heather?) asked about homeschooling on the cruise - I've got a 6½yo first grader and we're not doing anything formal. I'm totally stealing the "tell us where you're from" US map idea though! I was really hoping to find a high-quality map of the area that would allow us to use our GPS system to track the ship's progress, but a perfunctory search didn't turn one up and I don't have time right now to dig for just the right thing. We will bring our atlas so we can look up places we hear about, like countries where our servers are from and such. And we'll continue reading our current chapter books (the Boxcar Children series)... but other than that, NO SCHOOL on the trip! :thumbsup2

Four more garments sewn, now just 19 to go! WOOHOO! Thanks for the kudos and encouragement - these aren't fancy garments, mostly just elastic-waist shorts and matching appliqued tees. But still, as a novice seamstress I'm pretty darn proud of myself. (trying not to dislocate my elbow as I pat myself on the back!)

QOTW: My screen name is my initials (AQW). Yawn.

And my question for you all:

What are you doing today and/or this weekend that relates to the cruise?

I plan to do some more sewing, tie-dye some Mickey-head shirts, book our airport-to-port transportation, order pirate tees for the adults, and START MY PACKING LIST!

So I was on the old thread freaking out that I couldnt respond.. or quote or anything.. kept thinking what did I do to get my multi quote let alone any reply privledges revoked LMAO... then finally saw that it was closed and Kimberly's post LMAO.... Suffice to say I went and got another cup of coffee!:surfweb:

OK now to catch up on all you fast talkers... where are all of you at midnight pacific coast time as I am up still LMAO... no your all quiet then LOL

What are we doing this weekend that is Cruise related? We are working to get stuff done at the office so we can leave and are giving the dogs their pre-setter baths. Boy that sounds like a whole world of fun!!!

I have cheerleading practice all day on Saturday and Sunday....plus we did all our cruise stuff last weekend, really. We will go shopping ot buy a few little odds and ends we need (more razor blades, lip balm) and we'll probably put a bit more in suitcases....but most our cruise stuff is done until the 18th when i'll do laundry and actually finish off the packing.....and then also have to get the bird groomed and off to the bird sitter, etc.

The 11am advisory has Ike going into the Gulf of Mexico on the 5 day cone (outlook). This would spare CC a direct hit!!! Good news for our little island, bad news for the folks on the west coast of FL or in the Gulf, there's goes gas prices!!

Ike is moving at 16 mph, that's fast, but his wind speed is down in the 120's. Yesterday Ike was at 145. Big drop in one day. He'll slow a little around land.

oooh Hellmans light is 20 calories per tablespoon
regular Hellmans is 90 calories per tablespoon

Also, we have decided against bringing our laptop with us. We will have 4 3GB memory cards for our digital cameras though. If those all get full, I can go to Shutters and have them all put onto a CD correct? How much does it cost to do that?
I remember reading this.. yes you can Arin... dont have the price with me at this time.. sorry! Post on the main board Im sure they will Know!

I did want to inform all of you that I my husband and I are so excited and looking forward to the cruise. For those of you who do not know our kids Brianna (10) and Trenton (6) are still as clueless as ever and have no idea they are about to embark on a trip of a lifetime.
make sure to get a pic of their priceless faces... how awesome!

I know we are in 1069 which I would assume is somewhere in the very lower end of the ship. My luck we are probably right by the noisiest part of the entire ship like where they drop anchor or something.
Jenn
I had thought that too but after reading some room reports on here I realized it has its advantages (being the 1st one on and off port LOL) and doesnt seem like it will be too nosie! I HOPE! btw incase you missed it.. were neighbors! Im in 1071

I can already taste the ESCARGOT

I can't get myself to try this.. escargot and lamb. But lobster does sound SO good!! Do you know if there is lobster at Palo or any other dinners?
You will have to try it on the cruise... if ya dont like it you can send it back and get something else.. heck ill order 3, 2 for me and 1 for the table to try LMAO

Or if you really want to be cheap after day 1 all the people that got suckered into buying the souvenir glass(not mug) and decided they do not want will have them placed on trays in the hallways. You can just pick it up. When you goto the bar for health reasons they actually exchange the glass. (This is true with the mug as well. They exchange it)
:rolleyes1 all im saying....

Bummer! But you could still be sleeping on deck 4 chairs? :confused3 :lmao:
he could still be sleeping on the deck chairs after a few too many out of the patron bottle LOL

Grady had 2 teeth pulled today and they were HUGE!!! :scared1:

I've got to go play Tooth Fairy tonight. That's the one thing I'm not very good at. I always forget and feel so bad in the morning. One time I got the giggles while I was trying to get his tooth and deposit the $. I almost got caught! I sat under his bed about 1/2 hour. The things we do!
Poor Grady! and Im horrible with the TF too LOL I always forget and have to run in there in the am. Worse is that my kids expect a lot of money now cuz when both of them lost there 1st tooth, they were at my parents and well you know how gma and gpa's are... $10 each.. thanks for setting the bar HIGH mom and dad LOL (they only get $5 from us now LOL)

Tiffany: Speaking of screen names, I just went thru ALL of my F/E gift bags to add room numbers to the labels  and I noticed that when I typed your label out, my auto spell check changed LuvthEars to LUTHERANS without me noticing :rotfl: :rotfl: So, I scribbled it out and wrote in the correct name :thumbsup2 I got a giggle out of that one, if I woudn't have caught it, you would have gotten a giggle instead :)
I literally lol at work:laughing:

Happy anniversary, Mr & Mrs. Epperbiker.

Happy birthday, Mrs. FatCat.

THAT is real love!

And today, September 5th 2008, is our 5 year Anniversary!!! (This cruise is our gift to each other!)
Happy Anniversary!

I just read the best post on the main board....

I'm always wondering how much my luggage weighs, don't want it to go over. One cruiser suggested taking your bag to the fitness center to weigh them!

I just bought a hand held travel scale at Target!
Ours can only be 50 lbs, but I think the suitcase with it empty is around 15 or so.. :confused3 It's heavy!

Happy birthday, Vicki!!!

Happy birthday!

I post a while back but I can't remember if it was answered or not.. My mind is not working now.. aughh..

Anyways, I was wondering if there are any restaurants we should try at the Magic Kingdom? We have the meal plan. Or any place is okay? I wasn't sure if need to reserve one now. Thanks.

What will I be doing this weekend that is cruise related?: Printing out door magnets. I bought the magnetic paper at Office Depot and it was $15.99 for 5 sheets! :scared1: I'm sure that I could have gotten a better deal if I had the patience to shop around but patience + me = :rolleyes1

Even though I didn't ask my DBF the QOTW, I can pretty much answer it for him!

DBK1029 - DBK are his initials and 1029 is his birthday!

I got mine because one of my friends who I actually met when he was working at the Disney Store with me had his email address as TheDisneyMan so I decided to be TheDisneyGirl and add 02, which is the year I graduated from college.

As far as trip prep for the weekend, I'll be doing my FE gifts...well one of the FE gifts. I may have to give out IOUs to people because I don't think I'm going to get everything done in time. I'll give people my email address and have them email me with their address and I"ll send them the completed gift once it is done. Do you think that's ok?

We are supposed to get the effects of Hanna tomorrow and would you know we have a free day here at the science center? It's usually crazy! I don't want to imagine what it's going to be like in the rain too! :scared1:

I did that once... DS woke up, the tooth was still in the pocket of the pillow.. He says with the sadest little face... :guilty: "mommy, the tooth fairy forgot me" and then me screaming in my head... Oh *beep* I totally forgot :headache: So when he went down for his nap, that day, guess who left double money and a note saying she was sorry but had soooooo many teeth to pick up the night before.. :rolleyes1

I can't tell you how many times that our tooth fairy has failed in HIS duties. LOL!!! My dh has always had that job, and wow. :sad2:

My guys will bring books on the ship, but they take books *everywhere*. They have always been incredible readers.

Hmmmmmmm .... today, I'm going to work on FE gifts, get a project done that has to be done well before we leave, call concierge - again, and work on the list of what I want to do next week. Tomorrow, we have our monthly family fun day, so I won't get anything done then. Next week will be filled with cruise stuff and dd's birthday party stuff.

I might just have to try those Mickey tye dyes........

Anyways, I was wondering if there are any restaurants we should try at the Magic Kingdom? We have the meal plan. Or any place is okay? I wasn't sure if need to reserve one now. Thanks.

Read the menus and reviews at Allears and YES, you NEED to make reservations, if you want to eat at a table service restaurant.
