I had brought up the whole segments thing! If it had 8 segments, it was a male. And you know what I didn't know? They fly! How does a person live 32 years and see praying mantises all the time & not know they fly?
Thanks for reminding me! I thought it was pretty funny that we saw one last night after all the conversation about it just a few days ago. & after I posted, I did a little digging on the net......females usually have 6 segments, males 8; females don't always bite off the males' head - seems to be more common in 'domestic' ones vs those in the wild. & yes, this one definitely had wings!
Well, this morning Reese caught what Jessie had last weekend. I thought all my Lysol on the door handles & hand sanitizer on everyone constantly would have helped. But lo and behold, he caught her nose/head crud. Dang! We were supposed to go to our first day of homeschool PE today, but that's not happening.
poor baby. hope he's better soon.
We are going to make our way to the music store, because his violin teacher has approved his "graduation" from the foamalin (a little violin made out of foam that he learned proper hand placement, bow hold, etc.) to a REAL violin! He is soooo excited...he had worked for 5 months on the foamailn, learning his Twinkle Variations & holding techniques. He is quite proud of himself
