Well Airtran changed our flights too. We are now leaving out of Detroit instead of Pgh. Our new flight got us in at 330, and we have tickets to MNSSHP, so we want to be there early.
I wonder how many more times they will change???

Hi everyone! I've been lurking, but haven't had time to post.

The kids had swim lessons in the morning the last two weeks. Megan failed her class and has to retake it (Ok she did great, but she is still scared of the water). I'm hoping to spend a lot of time at the pool this summer to help here get over her fear so she is ready for the cruise. (It's a tough life I know!) She did surprise me by going down the 90 foot slide at the pool! I was at the end of it to catch her, but she loves it! Mickey slide here we come. :cool1:

Grady on the other hand passed his swim class with flying colors! The kid went from hanging on the side of the pool to swimming like a fish! He even passed the swim test everyone has to take in order to go on the slide and diving board alone before his swim class ended! He is ready for snorkeling!

I bought Doug a GPS for our 10 Anniversary (It was June 13) and the kids and I are looking forward to using it on Castaway Cay! Perhaps we could make this a special DIS excursion! Let me know if you are interested and we can work on a plan.

Since I seem to jump on everything that is posted about shopping I just have to send out a thank you for the Baggalini savings! Mine is dark purple, but will have my initials in lime green!

I think we have everything decided for booking. I'm just hoping that GC will not be so crowded because of all the ships in port. We are booking everything through Disney. We are willing to pay extra for the piece of mind.

We are leaving for a week of camping on Sunday. We bought a camper 2 weeks ago and for our first trip we are going for 7 days over a Holiday! :scared1: Hopefully everything will be great and since I'm an obsessive planner I won't forget anything. This will also give me some time to work on my FE gifts!

Have a great week everyone and a Great 4th of July!

PS - Kimberly - Doug's 40th is October 4th and the kids will be wearing shirts that say "My Daddy is 40 Today!". Also, about Kevin and the FE's and SM's - he's kinda shy and doesn't thing he wants to do this. He will have some magnets on his door though - :rolleyes1

How long does it take to eat at Palo's for brunch?

My younger son is diabetic and too young to care for himself at meals so we cannot let him go with the kid's clubs to eat.

Is brunch served like a buffet or is it brought to the table?

Brunch is servered buffet style...You can go up as many times as you would like...so the time depends on how much you eat

Figure about 2 hours for any meal at Palo's. Brunch is actually both a buffet and food cooked and brought to your table (like tilapia fillets and pizza).

Check the recent Navigator's for meal times for your child's club so you can plot and plan around them. I had to do this before I found out they may feed kids in the 3 year old group, but they don't give them any peanut products. :thumbsup2

Hope that helps!

Just 'cause this is on CNN this morning... There's a headline story about a woman who was refused passage on a Carnival cruise because she was 27 weeks pregnant. The lady stated that the policy was changed from 27 weeks to 24 weeks without notification. On a whim, I looked up where Disney's policy about pregnant passengers was. It's in the Terms and Conditions (I've copied it below) and the bolding is actually Disney's:

Refusal of Passage
Disney Cruise Line may refuse to transport or may disembark at any port any Guest who may be suffering from a contagious or infectious disease, ill health or whose presence in the opinion of the Master may be detrimental to the comfort or safety of other Guests or the crew, or who, in the Master's opinion, might be excluded from landing at destination by Immigration or other governmental authorities. In such cases the Guest shall not be entitled to any refund of fare or compensation whatsoever. Women who have entered their 24th week of pregnancy as of their embarkation date will be refused passage due to safety concerns. Neither a physician's medical statement nor a waiver of liability will be accepted. In addition, Disney Cruise Line cannot be held responsible or liable for any complications relating to pregnancy at any stage. Infants under 12 weeks old will not be allowed to travel aboard Disney Cruise Line ships.

Kinda interesting. Took me a while to find it, so I thought I'd share.

I looked at a Feb. '08 Western Navigator and it looks like there is no way we can do brunch - even dinner looks hard to fit in. I guess I could book brunch and see if our Navigator is the same - who knows? We had to cancel our dinner last time but I guess it is worth a chance.

I'm paid in full - so I can do my ressies on the 90 day mark this weekend!:cool1: Anyone else taking their 6th grader out of school and nervous about it? We did it last year for 5th grade - but this is middle school. :duck:

Are we all going to meet up before the ship sails or for the sail-away party? Is this when we get our lanyards? I know I asked before but maybe missed the answer. Sorry to keep asking but I really want to make sure I plan to meet up with everyone!:goodvibes

There are many inquiring about a DIS meets, but I don't think I've heard anyone who was interested in spearheading this to reality. :confused3 If I'm wrong, please speak up!!!

Otherwise....I'm suggesting that you get on the website's thread regarding the DIS Meets.

Location: I think there might be two suggestions for location there now, which are Deck 10 and the Promenade Lounge. If you have other suggestions, post it out there.

Time: Again, without looking, I think the only suggested time on the thread is to do it around 3:00 (before the Muster Drill). Again, get on there if you have another suggestion.

THEN....I'm volunteering Brandie or Jeremy (love ya!, love your work!) to set up a poll so we can all vote on location and time with majority ruling.

Let's have suggested locations and times posted on the DIS Double Dip website's thread by July 7. Then all the suggestions can go in the poll for everyone to have a chance to vote on.

Sound good????

We haven't officially announced the lanyard process, yet....but Hadley and I are planning on arriving at the port before 10am so once we're inside and checked in...we will find spot to be "lanyard central" (we will have announced that on here where generally that location will be). As families come into the port and start checking in....they can come introduce tehmselves to Hadley and myself (and our hubbies who will likely be in the vicinity, as well) and pick up their lanyards from us directly. Anyone who misses us in the port we may bring them up to the sailaway party as well. Anyone who doesn't find us at either time...AND whose stateroom # is correct in our files....will find their lanyards have been MAGICally delivered to their stateroom doors during the night! :goodvibes

I'd definitely be in favor of at least an informal DIS meet up on Deck 10 right before and during the sail-away party. On the TransAtlantic cruise that several of us took last year, this is what we did. We all met up on Deck 10 on the side to the RIGHT of the jumbotron screen if you are facing it (sorry...I can never remember what starboard and portside are :rotfl2: ).

Anyway- we've decided on no excursions. The two little kids (okay, Alex) won't stay on board with the grandparents, and everything we'd want to do isn't little-kid friendly. Or if it is, too expensive. Without dh around to do overtime, we have to watch the spending on this cruise.
Julie

We've decided on no excursions as well because of the little one and the lack of stuff to do with a 4 year old (who is the size of a 5 year old but who is scared of just about anything).

sorry to hear about the difficulties in getting Palo Brunch to work out. :(

This isn't really the same situation, but DD will be missing 1 week of Kindergarten. We're leaving on Thursday to drive down. Luckily, DD's has no school that week Wed - Fri. Otherwise, she'd miss almost 1.5 weeks.

The poll's up in the front page, Kimberly. Let me know if you want it tweaked.

Okay...I'm freaking out a little. Anyone notice that Erik's response to my post showed up BEFORE my post did, and the same happened to my response to Brandie. I PROMISE. I ONLY had peach iced tea to drink for lunch. Really! :rotfl:

ETA: It did it again! This post is showing up before Brandie's post that was previously on the board.

Definitely my pleasure, Kimberly! I hope your day is going well. I had a rootbeer float for lunch at 10:30 am. :) You know, beer-thirty! :rotfl:

Looks like DISBoard's internal database is getting tweaked. Or we're about at the point of getting this thread locked and starting a new one! :rotfl:

Lemme know if I can do anything else. You know where to find me. ;)

All of you NASCAR fans PLEASE take this in the light hearted way it is intended;) :
It is race weekend and I want all of these crazy fan people out of my state! Rio and I went down to Concord today to get items he will need for camp next week and our normally 30 minute drive home took almost 45 minutes and we are still on the very edge of what the crowds will be. Worse--we have to get Rio to camp tomorrow afternoon (height of the craziness) and the camp is VERY close to Loudon so we cannot go some alternate way and avoid all of this. Please, go home and just watch the race on TV, Kay?

Does anyone know what time Palo dinner is available? When is the first and last reservation?

One other question, do they like the men to wear jackets even at Brunch at Palo or is it more casual?

Just trying to have a backup plan as usual!

Crissi

I know the first reservation at Palo for dinner is 6:00 PM. That is when they open. On our last cruise it was the only time slot available on the day that we wanted so we took it. Interestingly there were only three other couples/groups arriving at 6 (it was a few minutes after when they actually let us in) and the restaurant stayed relatively dead until after 7. In fact, we had a window seat and had very few tables filled in our immediate vicinity. On the cruise before that we had much later reservations (8:30ish?) and the place was packed to the gills.

Also the earliest available reservation time for brunch is 10:30 AM.

I'm glad to see those reservations have hung around for a week or so. Looks like they will still be there Sat/Sun. Hope everyone pops in and posts their results.

I have not even started my FE gifts yet. I guess I have started *thinking* about them, does that count?! What the heck, we still have three months....:worried:

Okay, I just booked the ground transportation for us and Eirk and Jason:woohoo:
Now that we have that set up, Erik and I can really get you all a firm answer in the next day or two about where we will be and when to distribute the lanyards:thumbsup2

Wow, you all have been chatty, guess that's what happens when we are ONLY 3 months from sail date. OH MY GOSH I am SOOOOOOOOO excited

We are definitly interested in doing a sail away party, what would a person have to do if they were in charge of it:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

We are taking our 1st grader and 4th grader out of school, it would have been for 6 days but our cruise falls the same week as Rosh Hasanah(sp?) so they are only missing 4 BUT I might keep them home the Friday we fly down, not sure yet. Although our school district contracts are up this year so they might not have even started school by the time we cruise:scared1:

I am working tonight and tomorrow night, another 3 in row, will try to check in tomorrow
have a great weekend and keep cool
Kimberly: glad you have electricity
Erica: I hope to be triple fisting with you:drinking1
Hadley: hope those Nascare people leave SOON

Welcome to any newbies and I cant wait to see my ticker move to 2 momths tomoroow:cool1:
