Just checking in to see if everyone has been okay with the flooding going on around the US.

We received our letter from AAA today that we will have a change in port. This is our first cruise so I guess it doesn't matter to us. We did not plan to leave the ship except at Castaway Cay and we can't make reservations befor 75 days out anyway. I would like to go to Palos but DW is not sure about going. Not sure if it is worth it and just wants to experience being on the Magic. I understand that the brunch is very nice and might try to get reservations.

Look forward to meeting other Dis fans and Disney nuts.:hippie:

I started the Gorillapod revolution on here, which is affectionately known as the Bunnypod now since orders were multiplying! I've got a new one for all of you who love underwater photography and/or have fears of the sand damaging your camera (also would be very good for snowy outdoor days). It's the DiCAPac.

DiCAPac is a water submersible (up to 16 ft/5m) vinyl camera case made of thick, high-grade vinyl. They come in various models to fit your camera best and comes with a neck lanyard. They also make these for iPods, cell phones, and video cameras, btw.

In normal Kimberly fashion, I scoured the internet to find the best deal. In the end, AccessoryGeeks.com had the best overall price.
For the one I purchased, it has a regular price of $39.99, and it’s on-sale for $35.99 with free USPS standard shipping in the US. It gets better though! Whenever possible, I use EBATES.COM. AccessoryGeeks is one of their participating merchants and offers 9% cashback on your order. The only “catch” is you have to access AccessoryGeeks through EBATES’ website. WAIT! It STILL gets better!! When I was on EBATES, they had a coupon code for you to use as well, which expires on June 30. It’s for 10% off your order of $25 or more. Coupon Code is EBATES10.

In summary...
Regularly: $39.99
Sale: $35.99
10% off Coupon: $32.39 (savings of $3.60)
Shipping: $0.00 (savings of $5.10)

Later receive the EBATES rebate of $2.92, bringing this to a grand total of $29.47!

One thing to ensure you double check on. I noticed that after I put in the coupon code, the shipping changed to something other than USPS standard mail, so a shipping fee popped up. So ensure you go back and change that if you want the free shipping.

BTW, if you’re a new EBATES.COM participant, they give you $5 just for signing up. Oh…and they have DisneyShopping.com as one of their participating merchants, too, giving you 4% back on your purchases!

Thanks Kimberly :thumbsup2 I have wanted something to protect my camera, this is perfect!!!!!! Now I dont have to buy underwarter cameras, more $$$$$ for drinking :drinking

MADE MY FINAL PAYMENT TODAY:yay: :yay:

I see we are NOT going to be the 1st to set sail after dry dock::( :( Well at least it's a 3 night cruise instead of a 7.

Thanks for the info. :( I'm fairly sure they don't make one to fit our camera. Its one of the Fujifilm cameras modeled off a regular SLR. Not the small compact type.

What's a Gorillapod?

ok, folks. What type of bag do folks plan to use? I need a good sling bag - one that's like a backpack, but w/only 1 strap that goes diagonally across your front. My back really bothers me if I carry anything over just one shoulder. Even carrying my not-so-heavy purse draped diagonally across the front really hurts if I carry it for long.

I use a Baggallini messenger bag when I go to the parks, and I used it on last year's 3 day cruise. It works pretty well and holds the "normal" type stuff like wallets, cameras, an extra shirt, a few souviniers, etc....but it isn't HUGE.

Simliar to Erica's bag, my Travelon bag goes with me on all vacations. QVC has a variety of styles and materials, but here's one example that is the same style as mine. Mine is a microfiber though. If you want to look at the wide variety on QVC, just do a search for "Travelon". I find this design very comfortable and it has a lot of space. I can put papers, a wallet, eyeglass case, a camera, and so much more in here, yet it's not oversized or bulky.

I let my girlfriend borrow mine for a trip to San Fransico, and she came back raving about it.

Oh yea...that EBATES.COM site also offers cash back for purchases from QVC. ;) Just remember that you have to access the merchant directly from EBATES.COM's website in order to get the rebate.

They may...check out the company's website http://www.dicapac.com/new_eng/02_products/sub06.html. I found a couple on ebay, too. Obviously I don't know if this would work for your camera or not, but you might want to Google around for it. Of course this is much more expensive, but I've looked at hard cases before, and they are insanely expensive, which I'm sure you've learned yourself.

The Gorillapod??!

gallery-gp1.jpg

It's a miniature tri-pod, and they do make these for the small compact cameras as well as SLRs and video cameras. What's so special? The legs wrap around almost ANYTHING or you can put it on any uneven surface to make the camera level and elevated. The ideas are just countless, so you really should take a look at the photo gallery that displays multiple ways to utilize the Gorillapod. I know some mobile GPS systems also have a female slot that you can put a tri-pod on also.

Discussions from many on this product started on Page 80 and carry through for a few pages.. I found this quote in our thread as well:

OHHH that reminds me, from a Google search, I found a coupon code before I purchased my Joby Gorillapod. It's "GorillapodLOVE", and it's good until 12/31/08. The discount is for 15% off. They also have a "Green" option to purchase it without packaging, and that saves you around $4, too.

:wizard: HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO ALL YOU DAD'S OUT THERE :wizard:

For those of you who have been to GC, how does tendering work?

What is the name of the location will we tender to?

Will we be on land early enough for morning excursions?

I think we are booking the Buccaneer Stingray City Catamaran Excursion tomorrow. I am NOT swimming with the rays, but everyone else will be and I will just enjoy watching their happiness.::yes::

Does anyone know if they really work? I would hate to damage my camera. I had my digital camera stolen on my Oct. cruise and had to buy a new one.

Kimberly-
Thanks for sharing the waterproof casing product!! Last year, I had looked at a case for my Elph, but it was upwards of $200 and I thought that was NUTS! This seems like a much more workable option.

I hadn't thought about keeping the camera safe from sand. One more reason I must have this :) hehehehe

Jason and I had the same question. We just recently bought a nice new very compact digital camera and I'd love to be able to use it underwater (we always buy one of those disposable underwater cameras but they take really crappy pics usually)...HOWEVER....if it got ruined I'd cry like a baby.
