Hi all,

Just stopping by for a second. Thanks for your thoughts - I've skimmed over posts. Thanks so much for the PM! It's so wonderful how great everyone here is.

My daughter has said she'd like to do the stingray thing - I don't like things touching me - even if our cat rubs up against me I get all icky. So, my question is, can the three of us do the stingray thing, but me just sit it out? is there beach there without stingrays?

Thanks. If someone could PM me the answer, that would be great - as we have two days of wakes and then the funeral and I don't know if I will make it through all the posts to find the answer to my question. You folks are just the greatest. I truly feel like we are so lucky to be on this cruise with all these wonderful, helpful people.

:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

I did it!! Joe and I are booked on the Sept. 24th Magic cruise.:dance3:

Maureen

:cool1: So did we!!! DH and I are doing the Sept 24th Magic cruise. Our DD can't get off work earlier but she's still coming on the Sept 27th cruise with us.

FinallyBought DVC & Grandma: So sorry for your loss. Sending hugs ....

I see quite a few posts will try catch up on what I missed.

Great job on the new Logo!

we are also on the dolphin encounter at 1 PM

We are! My wife and I, our 4 year old son, and my mom.

If you mean for Cozumel, we're booked at 1PM w/Dolphin Discovery (not thru DCL -- too expensive that way) - 2 adults & DD (5)

She booked through Dolphin Discovery also.

Count us in! It will be me, DMom, and DGM!!

Us and Crissichef and her family are also on the 1PM dolphing encounter, we are taking over the place:banana:

I glad Jeninpa and the kids are in good company! The dolphins won't know what hit them. LOL

We're also considering staying on the ship at Cozumel. With the kids' range of ages, unless I find a private tour to San Gervasio, we'll just stay on board. Grand Cayman- on our first cruise, we got on a public bus and went to the turtle farm. The bus was fun, not the usual really big bus we're used to at home. Now, we're looking for something at GC- the big kids will not do stingrays- I mentioned it, and they both said, "Crocodile Hunter". So anything with living sea life is out for us.

Julie

Someone on the Oct 25 DD thread posted a link for horseback riding on GC:

http://grandcaymancruiseexcursions.c...backriding.htm

Even though we've already booked w/NativeWay for GC, this one is really tempting. DD loves horses & so do I. DH might go, but horses really aren't his thing.

Its ironic though, since one of our 1st dates was me taking him on a 2 hr trail ride. He doesn't ride at all!!! :rotfl2: It was a calm ride, but at the end we were both pretty sore.

Julie: This is something your crew might be interested in......no sea live involved unless you do the ride w/horse swim thing.

I hope you had a great time! I'm sure you'll come back with some great story! (I just booked a flight to Philly tonight!)

We had an awesome time today. DD and 4 of her friends, 3 of their mothers and one cousin toured all the historic sites together. We saw the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, the Betsy Ross house, Ben Franklin's underground Museum and his printing press. I think that's all the history I can deal with in one day! Luckily we had beautiful weather! Who are you visiting in Philly and when?

Crissi

Great! I'm sure Jeninpa will be happy to see familiar faces.

So how may others are on the 1 pm Dolphin Encounter?

Denise (RKandMJsMommy). her DH, DD and DS along with Me, DH, DD, DS, my mom and sister are all in for 1PM on the Dolphin Encounter..........again lots of PA people!

I faxed Palo a special request for the back room for dinner for 11 people, since we will be celebrating 2 birthdays and 1st time cruisers. I even offered to pay for the 12th seat if needed to get the room.

Today I got a call from DCL, no promises but she needed more information, guests names and preferred times, 6pm or 845pm.

So tomorrow Hubby will fax the added info and Maybe we will have a Palo Dinner for 11 at 1 table and Not 4 tables somewhere in the room

:thumbsup2

Hi again. I'm just updating this list as I've been able to do more research. These Grand Cayman independents are getting very good reviews in a variety of sources:
Thanks for all of the links Erik I'm going to pour over them this weekend.

Maureen how exciting I hope we get some sort of live report from you!!

That is awesome!!

Who are you visiting in Philly and when?

Oh I'm glad you had a wonderful time AND that you had decent weather! I know the weather here the past couple of days has been crazy with sudden downpours causing some road and field flooding.

As for flying into Philly....

Long story short, my DBF is temporarily working in offices in Newark, DE, (which is really sucking, btw). Trying to find the positive, it has to be that his sister and her family lives in Bel Air, MD. He's very close to his DSis, so he's currently choosing to stay at her house and commuting from there to work (although he says that's getting pretty old and tiring). Yet as I said, he's very happy that he is around family. Furthermore, his DMother doesn't live in the States, but she's staying at his sister's right now until late October. So in that regard, he's happy, and I'm thrilled that he at least has that because he hasn't been happy about this temporary assignment. I know being with his family is getting him through this though time. He's had many stresses since January, and the job situation with a temporary relocation hasn't helped. We all know having mom's food and hugs are good, comforting things!

Soooooo....back to the relationship to Philly. I'm going to fly in there on July 3, and he'll pick me up mid-day after he gets out of work. Then we're going to head off for a little mini vacation and finally return to his DSis and DBIL's so I can spend some time with them and see his adorable DNiece and brand new 3 week old DNephew before I head back to Columbus. :goodvibes

I was able to book my ressies tonight. :cool1: There were no issues logging in and the process was pretty painless. I ended up getting everything that we wanted. I posted it on my Pre-TR. I can't wait to hear what you other 105 dayers were able to get :listen: As well as the 90 dayers who will be booking before we know it. :woohoo:

I was able to book as well. :thumbsup2

The only iffy thing was when to book Palo for dinner. Its tough not knowing which dining room we'll have when. I was able to get the rotations for each of the early seatings, but haven't requested any of the 3 yet. Have to speak to Tiffany 1st to see if they have preferences. So.....Palo dinner may change, we'll see. We may just do that one on Formal night & go for a little bit to our normal dining room to see everyone all dressed up.

What are other folks planning on for Palo dinner & why?

Thanks!

We're booked up. I've currently got one Palo dinner with Mom on Formal night, and anniversary dinner with DH on semi-formal night (Palo has tables for 1-2, so I will try and tag along on DH's reservation of one for our anniversary  ). I've given up on worrying about restaurant rotations; I just don't care with all the itinerary changes I've cruised through. I know in Palo, I'll be dressed right. :rotfl: Formal night in Parrot Cay on the last cruise just didn't do it for me, and I refuse to try and rig towards Lumiere's.

Oh and I couldn't book shore excursions for the 2nd cabin with mom and kiddo in it, just for our cabin.

Ok, off to bed. Fiona's looooong since crashed.

Anyone also bringing two way radios?

We have the ones with 10 channels each with 99 security pins.
So essentialy 1000 channels.
Last time they worked pretty well.

We could establish an open DIS channel to update on important things like

-Free drinks at Art Auction
-Two for one drinks on deck from select waiters
-Free drinks at Captain Gala
-FatCat winning jackpot bingo and buying drinks

We did get all of our ressies, but it would not let us book for Mat and Sarah. Their names came up, but it said their booking window was not open yet, so we could only book Palo for two. I guess we can try to change that at the 90-day mark, though the prospect of that is a little scary!
All excursions and spa are taken care of though. I agree with Arin; it was pretty painless.

Congrats to all who have booked and gottens their wishes fulfilled!

Janet and I, with my sister and nieces, are trying to get to Stingray City booked independently at Grand Caymen (10 AM) and the dolphins at 11 AM again booked independently (This is confirmed and paid for).

We will get the dolphins warmed up and ready to go for everyone who has the 1 PM booking. I am hoping this all goes well as I have never booked outside of DCL. Right now I have three book for the two weeks. Not sure what we will do at Cozumel, the second stay. I am looking at the DCL Four Elements trip. Given the time commitment I do not think I would want to book that outside of DCL. Do NOT want to risk being left behind.

Can't even begin to comment on the many post that have been made. I hope everyone is doing ok. I just can't keep up with all the post. I need a few extra hours each day. Lois

FinallyBoughtDVC and Grandma4Ever... so sorry for your loss.

So for those of us clueless in the "making new friends" arena, how do I advertise "you met me on the DIS!" so folks will just run up and say hi? You aren't all wearing your logo shirts every day, right?? Our first cruise, we were so caught up in "let's go do this, let's go check this out" that we didn't meet a single soul. So we are obviously anti-social.

I don't really care if I don't meet a soul (ok no wonder I don't ever make friends on vacation :rolleyes1 ) but I want my kids to make some close friends so having another family to hang out with while the kids are off plotting something would be fun.

You do not wear your shirt every day--but you can (and many of us do) wear your lanyard everyday! It will show you are a DISser and even which DISser you are. Very helpful in this whole identify a friend thing.:thumbsup2

Thanks to Baracuda from our 9/07 cruise, I have a lime green wirstband that I can wear which will help ID me as a DISER. BUt I also wear my lanyard almost all the time. OK I take it off in the pool and when I sleep. Lois
