Happy Father's Day to all of the father's out there! Sorry it's so late!!! :)

:drive:
I started the Gorillapod revolution on here, which is affectionately known as the Bunnypod now since orders were multiplying! I've got a new one for all of you who love underwater photography and/or have fears of the sand damaging your camera (also would be very good for snowy outdoor days). It's the DiCAPac.

Thanks, that is awesome!! I do love my Gorillapod, thanks for sharing that too! It came in handy hanging off the handle of the ice chest in the back of the truck.. lol
It's a miniature tri-pod, and they do make these for the small compact cameras as well as SLRs and video cameras. What's so special? The legs wrap around almost ANYTHING or you can put it on any uneven surface to make the camera level and elevated. The ideas are just countless, so you really should take a look at the photo gallery that displays multiple ways to utilize the Gorillapod. I know some mobile GPS systems also have a female slot that you can put a tri-pod on also.

Discussions from many on this product started on Page 80 and carry through for a few pages.. I found this quote in our thread as well:

I second the Canon Power Shot...My mom has the S5....which I agree is very nice. I have the S3, and that is pretty darn good too. They are SLR, just a step below the Rebel (but about $200 cheaper). I am just a point-and-shoot photographer ;) and we've gotten some really nice shots with it. :thumbsup2

Isn't that the one that focuses on faces? I want one! I hate when I take a pic of more then one person and it's blury.. aughh..

Okay, I lost my other quote I had.. I was laughing at all the drinking posts. Drea, how did I know you were going to answer that one my little drinking buddy! lol See what kids do to you! LOL just kidding!

Oh and any NY Yankees fans out there? We just went to a game. I love it! :woohoo: Oh and Drea, We were :drive: to a game and guess what happened? ::cop: Yeah, mr. speed demon got pulled over. Got lucky and got out of it.. lol Yeah, I love having the free pass.. ha.. Okay, sorry, just got carried away with the smilies..

We also have a S5 IS and a SD1000 also!! We really like both cameras. B&H has the Canon underwater housing for the SD1000 for $169... I'd love to get it but...

Aaannnnnd, we hopefully just booked Stingray city through Moby Dick tours. We sent in our info & request...basically b/c of Flounder's Reef Hours we can't make any of the 9 AM tours....so we asked them if they could make their early tour 10 am (mighty presumptive of us, eh?)...or to ask if they have availability for an afternoon tour. I'm fairly optimistic they will have a slot for us that will work.

We're still undecided about Cozumel....you'd think we would have had that all planned out by now...:confused3

We've booked the Stingray Sandbar, Coral Gardens and Star Fish Snorkel with Native Way Watersports. They pick us up at the Tender dock - 9:00am Eastern Time - 12:15am Eastern Time – 3 Hours $35.

We already have Dolphins set up in Cozumel so now just have to settle on CC activities.

For the CC excursions I notice that some cruises through Aug. that stop twice there are allowed to book 2 days of snorkel equipment or 2 days of float rental for a discount.

Do you think that will open up to our cruise?

We booked the RRR w/nativeway which takes about 4.5-5 hrs. Pick us up at 8AM (I think) & back by 1:45PM. Now I'm not sure I want to spend that much time on a 'scheduled' excursion. I know if we get back by 2P we should have time to look around the shops & stuff, but will we really feel like it? Or just want to get back on board at that point. We may be switching over to the Croal Gardens one. Decisions, decisions.

It sounds like Rum Point is great, but we figured we'd get enough beach at CC and wanted to get back to the Ship early. Hopefully, we'll have a moment to shop for a quick trinket and still make it in time to have (free) lunch on board.

SD1000 is a nice little camera.

It has the retro look. The sharp edges actually allow it not to slip as well.

I believe the SD1000 is the lowest elph that will take the new memory sticks SDHC memory sticks that go over 2 gigs in size.

Don't go but the 1000 number as the model convention is not all sequential.

The larger sticks are great for videos.

I entered 8 or 10 Grand Cayman links and got the message each time that they'd bee added when approved by admin - but they're not up on the site yet...?

I was wondering what happened! I'll go dig and see what I'm supposed to "Approve." :confused3

ETA: Pushed enough buttons and figured it out. The links are there now.

The discount is there for all things you can rent on CC.

HAPPY FATHERS DAY TO ALL OF YOU

Question about life jackets.... we are planning on doing the Pirate encounter in GC. J isnt a great swimmer he clings to the sides of the pool. (hoping with it being summer now he will have more pool time at greatgrandma's and get better, P too but he's not as bad.) Anyhow, can we take our life jackets off the ship to use in port? I really dont want to have to buy one just for this cruise and pack it. Or if anyone has done this previously do they have life jackets to use?

They have inflatable life jackets on the excursions (required by Disney if it is a sponsored excursion, by the way). Don't worry about bringing yours.

I am looking at the DCL website for the CC excursions and for the special 2 day rentals it does not have our sailing listed and it says this:

Keep the fun afloat! Available to book online or onboard only, reserve a float or inner tube for your stop in Castaway Cay on select 4-Night Bahamian Cruises between May 11, 2008 and August 24, 2008 and swim away with 75% savings on the same rental during your return visit to Castaway Cay.

The 5 night Sept. 1st cruise is included in a list of dates.

Were you already able to book at the 105 mark and saw it there? I'm just not sure when you say "there" where "there" is?;)

Not the S3, I'm guessing...I still get some blurry motion shots and, no the S3 is not the best for closeups, not even on Macro. My mom gets some great ones with the S5, tho.....maybe she is just a better photgrapher...:confused3 (LOL, I KNOW she is, she and my dad used to drag me along to hang out at the Ritz camera store in the mall back in the 70's looking at all the lenses. Like that was *the* place to be...):faint:

We also have a S5 IS and a SD1000 also!! We really like both cameras. B&H has the Canon underwater housing for the SD1000 for $169... I'd love to get it but...

OMG, I looked for an underwater casing for the S3...guess because it is no longer manufactured they are hard to come by...none on ebay and the only two a google search brought up were over $569 :scared1:
I think I'm going to give Kimberly's bag a try!!!!:thumbsup2

We got our confirmation back from Moby Dick..it appears they did create us our own little touring time:banana: as we are now scheduled for 10:40 stingrays and reef snorkeling. Sweet. That is 10:40 island time, and the ship stays up with the correct island time, right? I was reading on some sites about ship time vs shore time and I got very confused.:upsidedow

Oh and does anyone know for sure our shore times in Cozumel? They are not listed under my DCL reservation, and Dreams has Cozumel day listed as 10:30am-10:30 pm. Wouldn't that interfere with Pirate Night if we were actually there that late???? No fireworks I would assume? I tried to look for the pier schedule on the internet and could not find that either. I know someone called a while back and the DCL rep said Cozumel night would be Pirate Night on our cruise. Can anyone confirm/deny the dock times for Cozumel????

Happy Monday everyone :duck:

A couple of questions, just for conversations sake: I know that the ship is pretty much full, but I was wondering if any of you are going to be trying for an upgrade at the port?

And

Is anyone planning on getting tickets for any of the tastings on board (wine, margarita, martini, beer)? From what I have read, these are pretty fun and well worth the cost. I think DH and I will be doing the Beer & Margarita tastings if they offer them. Hey, maybe we will do the wine and martini as well :rolleyes1

We did a Vow Renewal for our 25th Anniversary on the Magic last year, during the Trans Atlantic - Westbound. Everything was co-ordinated through Disney Weddings. Some of the options available to us were a little different to the usual sailings as the ship was leaving from a foreign port. Having said that - they were great and even went as far as organizing a special request fruit cake for us (traditional cake for us as we are South African/British) instead of the usual sponge cake. On board we had a Wedding/Vow Renewal coordinator who assisted with all the on board final arrangements including hair appointments etc.
Thanks for the advice!!

So, given the cost involved, would you do it again with Disney cruise?

Hey everyone,

So I hope all the talk of lanyards of late has gotten everyone excited!!

I have delayed actually printing the name badges out so far to accomodate any ressie changes, additions, deletions, etc....but as I've got only 94 days until I get on a plane and head to Disney World (for our WDW pre-cruise stay)...it's getting to the point where I need to actually print them out, cut them, start stuffing badge holders, and alphabetizing them!! (Well, my dear hubby will be doing a big chunk of that work, too...but still! :lmao: )

To that end....starting later this week...everyone on my lanyard list (and there are currently 287 total!!!) will be getting a PM from me here on the boards in which I will be confirming:

---the spelling and capitalization of your DIS screen name
---the correct spelling of the first name of each person in your group
---your stateroom (or if you are currently a gty I will be asking you if you have a stateroom yet).

I wanted to do this last minute "proofread" to make sure that I get everyone's info captured correctly on their name badges! (As a person with a name that is OFTEN mis-spelled...."It's Erik with a K!!" :rotfl:, I know it stinks to have to wear a name badge or something that has the wrong info on it).

When you get the PM from me....please don't ignore it...shoot me a quick reply just confirming that your info is all correct OR giving me the needed corrections.

This will go a long way in helping me make sure that everyone is as happy with their lanyards as I hope they'll be!!

Thanks!!

Most definitely. No one achieves pure 'Magic' like Disney does!
Even after 25 years of marriage I was so overwhelmed by everything that I cried through most of the ceremony ..... !
Everyone was amazing even the Shutters team. Truly a "Magical Memory".
