I would need alot of wine...we are going with a large group so 12 bottles I would need:hippie:

charlie:woohoo:

I bet Shirley could decorate a case of wine very pretty! I can see it wrapped in celophane with a big bow on it and your names written on the box. This would be a nice grown-up gift box. :rotfl:

Anyone need Pirate costumes for their kids? pirate: Disney.com has costumes 15% off today only with the code TODAY15. Grady told me last night he wanted to be Jack Sparrow for Halloween this year so this worked out nice. I got him the costume for $16.99 plus shipping. They have some cute girls costumes too. Have fun shopping!

Tiffany

I can't find the pirate costumes, but I noticed the Deluxe girl's costumes are marked off dramatically, too. These are the -nice- princess dresses, of which Fiona has two that she doesn't know about stashed in the closet for our cruises. :cool1: Somehow, she didn't manage to ferret them out over Christmas!

Hey there, bunny!

Just passing along that besides your your DS9 being surrounded by nine DD9's :lovestruc , he will have five princes his age to stick together and ward off the princesses! :rotfl: Your little DS5 pirate will have five buddies his age to hang out with.

The new Post 577 (now Post 6) is now there in its entirety, including all the links we had in Post 577 in the first thread. I think I tried each link at least once to make sure it was accurate, but if anyone sees something incorrect, please let me know!

I've also officially retired "Post 577" in my siggy. I'm thinking I've seen some others of you who have also had the link to that in your signature, so if you desire to change that, here's the link to Post 6.

Hey all. Question: Will Shirley put a bottle of liquor in a gift basket? If so, what is the mark-up? My DH and I were going to stop at the liquor store the day before the cruise and buy a bottle of Crown and a bottle of Belvedere to bring on the ship, but it may be easier to just have it delivered by Shirley???

IT'S REALLY LANYARD TIME!!!!!

For those many of you who have already seen this post, feel free to skip to the bottom to the BLUE writing for IMPORTANT NEW INFORMATION

For those of you who remember these discussions from months ago I
apologize for repeating information, but we have many new members so please bear with me

Several of us who cruised together previously were the lucky recipients of custom lanyards with namebadges for our trip . While it seemed a bit of a silly idea at first, I think we all found that we loved getting these lanyards/name badges. So, in the great tradition of stealing good ideas, Erik and I would like to head up the effort to provide lanyards/name badges to this lovely group of people for our upcoming Double Dip Cruise .

What is a lanyard?
Simply put it is a piece of fabric worn around the neck with a plastic pocket on the end. Specifically, these lanyards will be customized for this cruise with our cruise "name" and dates imprinted on them. The fabric is a soft material about the width of a standard shoelace which is much more comfortable and light weight than the standard Disney pin lanyards. The pocket will come with a customized name badge in it and also makes a great place to keep your Key to the World card. There is a good view of them in the following photo:

DSCN0027.jpg

What about the name badge?
The name badges will be custom printed for everyone and given out along with the lanyards. The background of the badge will be our cruise logo. Each badge will have the DISboard name associated with the person (so if only one member of a group posts, everyone will have that DISboard name but if more than one member posts they can each have their own DISboard name). Below the DISboard name will be the name of the person (presumably ) wearing the badge. So, for my group all 6 of us (me, DH, DD, DS, DFiL and DMiL) will all have NHDisneylover as the DISboard name as I am the only poster, but each individual will have his/her own name printed below NHDisneylover (Hadley, Dave, Marika, Rio, Hank or Jan). This is so if we end up with 10 Daves someone familiar with the boards will quickly know which one is MY Dave , etc.

Why have a lanyard at all?
There are lots of reasons. First, it makes finding your DISboard buddies (especially in the first day or two) much easier . Secondly, they are a great place to keep your KTTW card . Third, it is a fun souvenir . You may find, as I did, that you wear or carry it with you just about the entire trip. You may prefer to wear it to the sailaway party while you are getting to know your fiends and then relegate it to your cabin for the remainder of the cruise (Dave did it this way). Whatever works for you is just dandy.

How do I get my Lanyard?
Erik and I are now gathering all the information we need to be sure everyone gets their lanyards/namebadges. Please see the blue writing below for instructions on how to get the information to us. As we get close to sailing Erik and I will let everyone know one or two times and places we will be available for you to come and collect your lanyards on departure day. Any lanyards not collected at those times will be delivered to staterooms sometime the first evening/night aboard by Erik, Marika and myself (and we will not share the list of staterooms with anybody else).

Isn't that expensive???
Well it would be if Erik (and our fabulous SOs Jason and Dave) tried to underwrite the entire project ourselves. Luckily for all of us, many of you are willing to help provide this momento to all the DISsers in our group. This "lanyard team" has agreed to split the cost of the lanyards/badges. As a thank you all of their DISboard names will be listed on the back of the nametags (and in a few posts here and there--you gotta love these people). This group is BIG and keeps growing.
Here is a list of those currently on the lanyard team. If you would like to join in and help out PLEASE PM me and I will add you to the list.

The lanyard team consists of:
Tigger82174
NHDisneylover
Hoagie Pie
Buckeye Gal
StarGater
LuvtheEars
rkandmjsmommy
Scoobypop
Scoutsmom99
Silversea
Zweihund
anewmac
ilovemangoes
Captain Jack
Magicfor2

THANKS to all the above posters!

It is time for us to start collecting all the inforamtion we need for the lanyards. Please bear with us and submit info specifically for lanyards which you have probably already submitted to Kimberly for other purposes. We are trying to keep the lanyard list seperate to prevent mistakes and keep confusion (on our part) to a minimum.
We are asking that someone from each group submit information to this email address: DoubleDip09-2008@hotmail.com PLEASE PUT LANYARDS IN THE SUBJECT LINE--this is the only way Erik and I will know to open the email and include your information. Here is what we need you to submit for each individual in your party:

1. The DIS board name to appear on the badge (see "what about the name badge" above for more info.)
2. the FIRST name of the badge wearer
3. a room number for your party (so we have somewhere to deliver the badges) If you are booked gty simply list that and we will get the stateroom number from you closer to the sail date.

Thanks everyone for being an awesome group and feel free to post questions.
Hadley and Erik

Hello All !! Well, our passports were mailed yesterday ! I can't wait to get them...anyway..I have a question for you seasoned cruisers - Do you just take the copy of your Passport when you get off the boat or do you bring your actual Passports with you? I know I have heard people bring a copy instead of the original ones in case you lose them.

Hi Hadley - One question - what about those of us who have guaranteed rooms and do not have a room number yet?

Thanks,

Crissi

We carried copies with us in Europe and left the orginals in the safe in our room. In Mexico we usually just carry our Drivers License.

Cozumel is a good Port to pick up some wine and Liquor.
They have a very nice modern store right at the end of the dock.
(Dock is a bit of a walk but you can tip the guys on bikes pulling the carts)

It is your basic duty free store with liquor, perfume and tobacco.
So assuming we stop at Cozumel you can re-fill.

You can pay by credit card and then carry right on the ship.
What we usually do is get everyone back on board and then send a team
on a booze mission. This way you can drop off all the Souvenirs you are carrying first and potentially freshen up.

Also if you are into Tequila tasting there is usually a lot of sampling available in the store as well. (As well as some of the souvenir stores further in)

We'll have to meet up with you so you can show us where to go. DH wants nothing but Tequila to bring back.........

Good question. For stateroom # just list "gty." When it sounds like people are starting to get their assignments, I'll PM the people I need numbers from.

Good call, Hadley......yes if you are a GTY cabin, then submit all the info except that. What we need up front is the names to print on the tags.....we can take the staterooms later when it gets closer to the cruise itself because that info is exclusively for delivering the lanyards and will NOT appear on the nametag anywhere.

This is also useful for folks who may upgrade (if that's even possible...which it may not be on a sold out ship) or change rooms.

We just carried our DLs in all the ports on our Eastern. DH had to bring our passports down to the Theatre in St. Thomas, otherwise we didn't need them except to and from the U.S.

I don't know if you can stack the codes, but if you use the code SHIPFIVE you will get $5 shipping on your whole order. They had some swim shorts for boys for $4.99. They also had some deals on pjs.

Or use SHIP60 (which I just got in my email) for FREE shipping:rotfl: Now if only I had some money to spend at the sale:rolleyes1
Actually I have to put in an order somewhere else today. Rio wears a particular kind of hat nearly every day-he loves them and I can only get them for about 2 weeks each year when they first come out and they are out:woohoo: Oh, and we are also ordering him a brihgtly colored button down shirt to wear under his light colored linen suit (really his Easter clothes) for the 80's birthday party we are having for Dave. He is dressing like Simon LeBon:rotfl: Okay, so who can be the first child of the 80s to tell me why this is funny???

TAHNKS to the 11 of you who had your lanyard info. in to me by the time I got up this morning:upsidedow What a great group. And please do not fret about those who do not keep up with the boards. I will PM everyone registered with Kimberly who does not email in. But, it is a lot less work for me if those of you who keep are reading along just send an email;) I am all in favour of less work:dance3:

Yes...good advice....and also I know that many of us know each other offline via email or even in "real life" (is there actually a world outside computers and internet?!?!?!:lmao: ). So for those of you/us who DO watch the boards regularly maybe a quick email or phone call to our friends who may not be here all the time to let them know about the lanyard list and what they need to do (even cut and paste Hadley's wonderfully composed post!) would be super helpful and would certainly help ensure that nobody gets left out of the lanyards and name badges.

For instance, I know that Chris and Rob (Scoobypop) live very very busy lives and aren't always able to keep up with the boards (especially when we fill several pages a day!! ;) )---plus they are aboard the Magic RIGHT NOW actually and will have a lot of catching up to do when they get back home to Las Vegas this weekend. I email and text them from time to time though because we're friends...and so I will likely just shoot them a quick note. In addition, Chris' best friend (Deana aka Dinkerbell) is also cruising with us and several members of her family----but I haven't seen her post really since she first joined several months back...so I suspect she may not be keeping up with the boards this far out either....so I'll remind Chris and he can remind her....and hence we have our own informal lanyard phone tree!!

Make sense? So now I'll do a throwback to my southern gospel roots (my daddy is a Southern Baptist minister! ;) ) and say, "DISer's, go ye therefore into the world and spread the good news of the lanyards!!!" :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Tequila Afficianado eh?

Well if there is a group of people with a similiar draw to Tequila, I am quite interested in trying Patron Platinum. It is $39 a shot at the Quiet Cove bar.

But a bottle could probably be had for $150 to $175 at the duty free store if a group wants to split it. We could comandeer some shot glasses.

It is a 750ml bottle.
Disney probably pours a shot and a half in their shot glasses so 50 ml each.

So we could get about 15 shots out of it.
At Disney price that is $39 x 15 x 18% = $690.30

Not bad...
Then we could have a contest for the Crystal Bottle.

I actually captured some shots of the Magic on Saturday from the webcams! I posted them on their Meets thread. Very cool to know I "virtually personally" know someone who will appreciate them!

Deana DID decide to go??? COOL!! I didn't even know that! Last I recall her posting, several of you were still giving her a hard time for not signing up already! :rotfl: I know she was still working on convincing the DH!! She CLEARLY has great negotiation skills! hehe
