Doreen's New Way of Life (comments are welcome)

hey doe, congrats on sticking to your plan! you're doing a great job, especially getting in all that exercise. i'm so proud of you :teeth:

sounds like you had a great albeit busy day planned for today. hope that all went well and that you enjoyed yourself along the way :sunny:

Final recap of Saturday:
1. Meds & vitamins taken 6/6 100%
2. Water - I'm finishing my last mug now 6/6 100%
3. Food - I was pretty good at dinner but did have dessert. Can't count it as under 60g but I have days built in for this. 4/6 67%
4. Exercise - 20 minute Pilates 5/6 83%

It was a good day! The party for my father went very well and all had a great time. I ate more carbs than usual, but I saved them for the really good stuff - I didn't waste them on everything and anything. I'm pleased with myself!

Tomorrow I plan to sleep in, go to church, do some grocery shopping and help the kids with some school projects. We never did get a puzzle, but that's OK - plenty to keep us busy. :p

Doe, I thought I'd come over and say Hi :wave2: and thanks for being so supportive on my journal. I just read the last few pages of your journal and it looks like you have been doing great! Are you doing a bunch of different "challenges" this month? Do you enjoy your Pilates tape? I have been thinking about giving that or yoga a try along with my walking in training for the 1/2 marathon.

Have a great Sunday :sunny:

Cheryl:wave:

:wave2: Good morning, Doreen. I'm just stopping by to say hi before I hit my journal and then the treadie. Enjoy your Sunday, WISH-sis.:sunny:

:sunny: Good afternoon!! :sunny:

I did my 20 minute Pilates workout first thing this morning. I've done it so much that I wanted to try it without the DVD. It only took me 15 minutes and I really was going slow and focusing on each exercise. I feel like I got a better workout in less time and I didn't have to listen to Mari Winsor say the same stuff I've heard countless times before! It wasn't a chore, but an enjoyable way to start my day. This could become a habit! ::yes::

Then I was sleepy so I went back to bed! :p I slept until 11! Then I got up, showered & dressed, made hard boiled eggs (for DH) and tuna salad to have on hand this week, helped the kids with school projects, etc.

I ate more than usual for dinner last night. I'm just now starting to get hungry and it's 1:30 PM! Does this happen to anyone else or just me? I figure why eat breakfast if my body is still processing food from last night? I have started drinking my water though!

The plan:
1. Meds & vitamins with lunch - soon.
2. Water - 1 mug down, 4 to go.
3. Food - Lunch will be tuna salad on fiber rye crackers. Dinner - maybe the chicken quesadilla recipe I've been meaning to try. Dessert if I need it - always sf jello w/ whipped cream in the house! :D
4. Exercise - 20 minute Pilates workout in 15 minutes! :teeth: I'd like to get to the point where this is a daily habit and then add a mile of walking every day. I will do some occasional walking but I won't make walking a goal until April.

This afternoon I hope to take the kids to the movies but they each have some homework projects to finish before we can go. All in all, it's going to be a laid-back kind of day!

EDIT: 3:30 PM
1. Meds & vitamins taken
2. Water - working on my 3rd mug
3. Food - Lunch was as planned (18g) + walnuts (2g).
4. Exercise done.

I need to keep working on my water and make sure I eat a healthy dinner and this day should be another good one for my goals!

Hi Doe,

It looks like you've enjoyed your weekend. Good for you! I'm so glad you went back to bed and got the rest you obviously needed. Great job on the Pilates. Enjoy your movie.
:sunny:
Beth

You exercised and then went back to bed until 11? I'm so jealous! I would love to do that...could you explain this to my son, please? :p

Sounds like you've had a lovely weekend. Hope you got to take the kids to the movie. That's my kind of afternoon.

Doe,

You are doing so good with your exercise! I want to make exercise a first thing in the morning habit also but I'm not a morning person & it takes a while for me to get moving. Keep up the great work & have a good week!!

:wave2: Holly

:sunny: :sunny: Good Monday Morning, princess: Doe-Doe.:sunny: :sunny: I know it's a rainy (or is it snowing there) Monday morning and you're back at work, but I just know that today is going to be a sunny day for you. You've been doing so well--exercising, drinking water, taking those vitamins--all that good treatment is going to make your day a bright one! ::yes::

We're going onward and downward, WISH-sis!

How quickly things fall apart! Yesterday's wrap-up:
1. Meds & vitamins 7/7 100%
2. Water 7/7 100% I was guzzling the last of the water at 10 PM right before bed - it's TOUGH to get my water in on the weekends!
3. Food 4/7 57% Uh-oh! The leftover cake from Saturday was on the counter and calling me all day! I finally gave in & had a small piece and THEN checked the carbs - 70g in one piece!!!! I've now used 3 of my 6 allowed cheat days during the first week of the month - I'm a little worried about this.
4. Exercise 20 minute Pilates 6/7 86%

Nothing to do but move forward. The rest of the family finished that evil cake last night so it won't be tempting me anymore.

Same goals today:
1. Meds & vitamins on my desk.
2. Water - 1 mug down, 4 to go
3. Food - Breakfast was a protein shake (2g) + my fruit (5 strawberries & half a very small banana). Snack will be an Atkins bar (2g). Lunch will be tuna salad on fiber rye crackers (18g). Dinner will be chicken of some kind, green beans & sf jello / whipped cream for dessert. I will not deviate! I need to stick with this plan to make sure I have a cheat free day.
4. Exercise - Pilates when I got up. It's so peaceful to do these exercises in a focused manner in a quiet house first thing in the morning WITHOUT the noise of the DVD. There's a lot of stretching and a lot of ab work in the exercises and the movements are mostly slow. I'm really enjoying this!

We never made it to the movies yesterday - the kids stayed busy with homework - but next weekend we'll try again.

I'm still feeling pretty positive, although I'm worried about meeting my food goal this month. But if I never try, I'll never have the chance to feel the joy of succeeding! I'd like to figure out a reward if I meet all my goals this month to give myself some incentive. I'll think about this.

Onward and into the day! :sunny:

:wave2: Hi Doreen,
I really like your idea of a reward for yourself at the end of the month when you finish your goals. I was thinking of getting myself a new CD when I lose 10 pounds but I think I like attaching it to goals better than making it about weight. I'm glad you are still feeling positive (and I'm glad that evil cake is now gone so it can't taunt you anymore ;) ). Wishing you a great day :sunny: !

Good morning Doe! Well it is a new day, a new week. Put this weekends indiscretions behind you and start fresh!!
I have to pick a goal or weight to reward my self as well. I already know my reward!:teeth: It's all about the clothes for me!!! I am SOOOOO sick of wearing stretchy pants and skirts, tops that I can't or won't tuck in..........I am going to buy myself something nice for spring/summer.
I hope you have a wonderful day today. Do you have this awful white stuff as well today? Oh well, I'm WISHing you lots of :sunny: ! Keep up your positive attitude - you're doing great!!
TTFN-
Sharon

Morning Doe! Your Strawberries sound fantastic! I bought some fresh strawberries this weekend and I need to cut them up and sprinkle with splenda. Maybe I'll have that as a snack tonight. Yummy!

Okay girl - it is time to get serious! You only have 3 days left where you are allowing yourself to cheat which means you need to be on this week! I know you can do it!:goodvibes

I PM'd you last night - did you get it?

~Amanda

Good morning, Doe!

I like your attitude. You never know if you can succeed until you try. Attaching a great reward to your goal could be just the motivation you need. Sounds like a great idea to me! ::yes::

Sending some :sunny: your way so you can have a wonderful day!

~Angela :wave2:

Just wondering: was that chocolate cake? :p

Oh, by the way, the line for D-Zone Roller Coaster Ride is currently forming at the right. . .:p

Hang in there, princess: Doe-Doe.

Doe~
I love your positive attitude! :Pinkbounc You can do it! Just keep on keepin on!:moped: And I definitely think a reward is in order when you accomplish your goals! You deserve it!

Thank you for the encouragement that you are! Have a wonderful day!:sunny:

Tracy:teeth: :wave2:

Hey Doe,

I think cake is the secret sidekick of Evil DZONE. Sorry about that, I'm in a strange mood. The weekend is over, and you have not given up any of your goals. You can still achieve every one. I know you will, Doe. You like a challenge, right?

I hope the rest of your day goes smoothly. Take care of yourself. Remember to stick your tongue out at EVM today.
Beth

Thank you all for your encouragement! I feel like I have my own cheering section! How could I possibly fail with all this wonderful support? :grouphug:

4 PM update - getting ready to leave work:
1. Meds & vitamins taken
2. Water - all 5 mugs!
3. Food - stuck to my plan so far today with no urges to visit the EVM!
4. Exercise finished.

I've met all goals except for food - gotta watch myself this evening! I will not be using any more of my food cheat days today!!

By the way, Erin, it was yellow cake with white coconut frosting from the most wonderful local bakery - they should label it as dangerous to your waistline! :hyper: The best part of my Dad's party was that he didn't realize it had coconut frosting and he really BLEW out those candles - the coconut flakes flew EVERYWHERE!!! :teeth: We all had quite a good laugh!

Haven't come up with my reward yet but I'm going to make it a good one, since I only have 3 more food cheat days left for the rest of the month!

Hi Doreen! Good job at staying away from the EVM. You seem really focused today. Ride that wave as long as you can!:D

Ooh, that coconut cake sounds so good. I hope you were able to get a picture of your dad blowing out the candles.

So it's time for a reward, huh? How about a new outfit, a new book or maybe a pedicure/manicure? Whatever you decide, you deserve it for all the hard work you've been putting in.

Take care Doreen!:D

I'm finished eating for the night and I will NOT have another bite of food - may drink some more water though! :p

Final recap of the day:
1. Meds & vitamins taken 8/8 100%
2. Water - all 5 mugs & then some 8/8 100%
3. Food - Dinner was a whole wheat tortilla w/ taco meat & cheese (18g) and sf jello w/ whipped cream. Total carbs today = 40g carbs - way under my 60g limit! YAY! 5/8 62.5%
4. Exercise - 7/8 87.5%

I made it through another day. That's how I have to do this - just one day at a time. I did 4 separate things (my goals) that were good for me! I'm worth it! :sunny:
