Doreen's Fresh Start & Success Story! (Welcome Friends!)

I hear ya about the weekend! BRING IT ON! :)
Sorry your dinner plans had to change - think maybe you and Todd could get out on Friday night?
Take it easy on your foot tonight - if it starts to hurt turn around and head home!

~Amanda

Happy belated Anniversary wishes!!! We have Macaroni Grill here and I do like that place. It's pretty good. Sorry your dinner got postponed but when you go I hope you have a great time!!!!

Keep on

Sometimes I wonder why I even TRY to plan my evenings. :teeth: The plans always get thrown away and we're off on some adventure. I suppose that's just reality with 2 teens in the house. Last night I had to take DD and her friend to the tennis courts so they could play their challenge match. They have practice with the team for 2 hours each day. Then the coach gives them a match to play on their own time before practice the next day. Looks like I'd better just keep all evenings free for the next week and a half. :p

After all that was over, we got dinner....at 9:15 PM. Eating late is never easy for me because by then I'm starving and I tend to inhale my food and overeat. The next morning, all that food feels like a rock in my stomach and I eat carby stuff trying to feel better. I'm a bit frustrated, knowing that this will be the schedule for another week & a half, while I'm battling the dreaded DZone. Fate is conspiring against me! :confused3

In addition to all this, my foot is still giving me problems so no exercise last night. I did spend time icing the arches of both feet. I don't want to give up the half marathon in St. Louis, but the reality is that if I don't get some training in soon, I won't be ready. DH says we'll still go and have fun doing more sightseeing, but I promised I'd do the half with Amanda and I don't want to let her down. :( I don't have to decide right now about the half but I sure wish I could get out there and walk, because my weight is starting to creep up.

Today:
1. Devotions - This one thing I do, forgetting those things, which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. - Philippians 3:13-14 Dr. Norman Vincent Peale says the art of forgetting past failings is a necessity - very wise.
2. Pills - will take them momentarily.
3. Water - haven't done well with this one lately. I've been averaging 36oz per day. Today I'll have 3 bottles of water while at work.
4. Healthy eating - B was a bagel w/ butter, for lunch I must go downstairs and get something healthy at the cafeteria - no more EVM lunches!!!, why plan dinner when I have no idea when we'll be eating :teeth:
5. Exercise - a "sore" subject right now :rotfl:
6. Scale - just didn't have the guts to face it this morning. :( I "feel" fat enough, I don't need positive confirmation.

There are positive things waiting for me today. I just have to look at the world with the right attitude to see them. With the DZone hormonal influence upon me, I'll have to work extra hard at this.

I'm taking a song from Perry Como as my theme song today:
You gotta accent-tu-ate the positive,
E-lim-inate the negative,
An' latch on
To the affirmative
Don't mess with Mister in-between!

You gotta spread joy up to the maximum,
Bring gloom down to the minimum,
An' have faith ( Amen! )
Or pandemonium's
Liable to walk upon the scene!

I don't have to decide right now about the half but I sure wish I could get out there and walk, because my weight is starting to creep up.

I am just so happy that I'm going to get to see you and Todd again this year that I could CARE LESS if we do the half! As long as you're here - I'm a happy girl! Would it be fun - sure! But it is not worth injurying yourself over nor is worth you piling up a bunch of guilt. A hurt foot is a hurt foot - end of discussion (do you hear my mommy voice?).

Did I tell you Eric (of Susan and Eric) won't be doing the Iron Man in September? He also hurt his foot and his Dr. told him he can't run. Yes he is bummed out about it but he is also taking himself out so he doesn't further injur himself. Is doing this half marathon worth it to never be able to do another one again! Or worse - possibly hurt yourself so bad that you need surgery?

So - stay off your foot, keep up the arches, reaccess the situation next week - if you can't train then we don't do the half, and no GUILT!

~Amanda

:) We've got to "ac-cen-tu-ate the positive, e-lim-in-ate the negative. . ." :) I'm singing along with ya, sister!

I think it was really good of you to bring the whole half marathon thing into your journal, Doreen. If I may add my 2 cents. . . (and you knew I would :p ), I'd have to say I think that your plan to reassess next week is a good one. Try to remember in the meantime that you have nothing to prove--you've walked two of these babies already this year! Also, maybe you can spend a few quiet moments with that calendar and schedule of events for the next few weeks and see if it's comfortably realistic for you to do half marathon training--along with tennis and band. ;) And also, I promise, this is my last cent :p , you can take another couple of moments and quietly search your heart and ask God's guidance and plan for this event. You'll find your way on this, I'm positive.

Please know I was thinking of you and Todd yesterday, you Lovebirds, you. :love2: Happy, happy anniversary.

Hang in there, sweetie. You know this D-Zone ride so well, and you'll be over it soon.

Love ya and ,
Erin

 LET THE FRIDAY PARTY BEGIN! :cool1: :rockband: :thewave: :rockband: :thewave:

Good morning, Doreen! Friday's here! I hope you have an awesome, rockin' day!

,
Erin

It's a party!!!

What fun to come to my journal and see that the Friday Party is in full swing! :flower: I sure am ready for a party to celebrate the end of the work week! :faint: This has felt like a really looooonnnnngggg week and I'm tired but all the music and fun here has given me an extra burst of energy! :goodvibes

The family got to go to Outback last night and celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. We enjoyed ourselves immensely, and I feel a bit more immense this morning. :rotfl: Seriously we did have a good time but I ate more than I truly needed to. No worries, as they say in Australia - I know exactly what to do to melt those pounds away.

Today:
1. Devotions - In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. - Romans 8:37-39
2. Pills - taken
3. Water - finished 3 bottles (60oz) yesterday!! I'm almost finished the first bottle for today.
4. Healthy eating - B was a bagel w/ butter, no idea on the rest of the day
5. Exercise - my foot continues to get a little better each day but it's not ready for any mileage yet.
6. Scale - no way was I getting on that thing this morning. :earseek:

I got to work this morning and jumped right in. I'm getting ready for the training sessions I've been asked to do. All is progressing nicely and I'll have all 6 1hour sessions taught before the end of August. I'm feeling good about work at the moment! ::yes:: :) :goodvibes

Tonight I'll get things ready for DD's family birthday party tomorrow evening. DD will head out in the morning to take her test for her learner's permit to drive. If you have any spare pixie dust to send her way, please feel free. She's really hoping to pass the first time and on her 16th birthday. :p I think that would be the very best birthday present of all for her.

Can't believe my baby girl will be 16 years old tomorrow!! She's growing up quite nicely although she still has a long way to go. :p I'm proud of her and all she has accomplished. :lovestruc

OK, enough of that - I've got to get back to work! :p

:grouphug: to all my WISH friends!!

Doe:

Wow, two big milestones in the same week. No wonder you are having a Friday party!

Pixie dust :wizard: for your DD on her drivers test. Tell her to read the question and answers before picking the best one, tell her to breathe, and parallel parking is best to practice with friends acting as the parked cars (yes, they can always move out of the way). You don't want to hit your friends as you manuver the car and since people are taller than cones, they are easier to see. Keep the car windows down so that each can yell directions and encouragement!

Have the best of weekends!

-Laurie :sunny:

happy sweet 16 to your daughter!! i was so nervous when i took my test, but so excited too--good luck to her!! have a great weekend!

:bday: Happy Sweet 16 to your princess: DD, Doe! Prayers are on the way for your DD learner's permit test and for a healthy, happy, and blessed year ahead! :goodvibes

Have a great weekend! :sunny:

:bday: to your lovely DD! :cake:, and a special  to the mom who's watching her baby grow up. It's an exciting time for you both!

Have a great day. Let DD know I'm wishing her all the best at her driver's test and on her special day!

Love,
Erin

:cheer2: :cheer2: All that prayer and pixie dust worked!!! DD has passed the knowledge test needed to get her learner's permit! Thanks to all!! She's just a little excited!   She's headed out to a local parking lot with Dad for her first lesson. :goodvibes

I had a wonderful massage this morning, thanks to a gift certificate from my dear hubby for our anniversary. I re-bought the gift certificate and gave it back to him so he can get one. We both love massages but are too cheap to spend the money on ourselves. The funny thing is that we both love to spoil each other so we'll gladly pay for a massage for the other one. :teeth: I figure we'll just keep swapping this certificate for quite a while. That way, we both win. :cloud9:

Nothing else to report at the moment, all is well here. No plan for today but I'll do what I can to eat decently and treat myself well.

:Pinkbounc Congrats to DD! :Pinkbounc
:cloud9: Ahh, a massage. All I can say is "ahhhh." :cloud9:

I'll talk to you in a week, WISH-sis. Take care of YOU, OK?

 and ,
Erin

Whew!!! For a change, I'm glad the weekend is over. It was a good weekend but it was very busy and I'm glad to have a chance to just sit in my cubicle at work. :p

DD's birthday went very well on Saturday. In addition, we stopped by my niece's birthday party to wish her a happy 21st birthday. My daughter was born exactly 5 years later so the cousins share their birthday, and have always had a special bond.

Sunday we were up early and on the road. DS has been seriously considering attending Juniata College next fall. It's a 2 hour drive so we thought we'd drive up and wander around the campus just to get a feel for things. We had a wonderful time and he really feels at home there. We came home and my parents stopped in for a quick visit. I was in bed by 9 PM. :teeth:

Today I'm fighting a bad headache but still made it to work - lots to be done!

After seriously considering the WW Core program, I've decided that I'm going to incorporate some of the ideas but not all of them. I will start to journal all my food, yet again. Also, I'll include more fruit, more veggies and more skim milk. WW does stress portion sizes so I'll eat smaller amounts, just until I'm satisfied. I can't get used to low or no-fat or fake cheese, butter, mayo and yogurt so it's the real stuff for me. We'll see how it works out. I'll be fine as long as I don't start the emotional eating.

Today:
1. Devotions - If any man thirst, let him come unto Me, and drink. - John 7:37 Jesus, with His love, can satisfy the unnamed longings in my soul.
2. Pills - not yet.
3. Water - have to start
4. Healthy eating - B was cool watermelon - so refreshing! snack will be a corn muffin (not healthy but the last one in the house), L will be something light, D????
5. Exercise - some Pilates at home tonight. My foot still isn't ready for a serious walk.
6. Scale - 156 (better than the 157 of yesterday ;) )

I may have to resort to a Coke to help my headache (need the caffeine). I'll do what I can today. :sunny:

EDIT: 9 AM
2. Pills taken. I also took some Excedrin Migraine to kick this migraine. The pain has lessened somewhat but now I have the nausea, dizziness and jitters (from the caffeine). :teeth: At least I won't be overeating today - I'll take my blessings any way I can get 'em. :p
3. Water - started on my first 20oz bottle. Despite the nausea, I'm going to try to get 60oz in at work.
4. Healthy eating - ate half my corn muffin with my meds. Will finish the rest later if and when I feel hungry.

EDIT: 1:45 PM
3. Water - halfway through my 2nd bottle
4. Healthy eating - 10:30 - finished the other half of the corn muffin, 1 - 1.5 C of chicken noodle soup from the cafeteria

I'm sorry your morning has been difficult already. Not a good way to start out the week. Ya know we need to talk about your travel plans! You'll be here in less then a month!

Do what you can today and nurture that headache!

~Amanda

I finally got to the grocery store last evening so I'm now stocked up on decent food to eat! YAY!! :Pinkbounc

The headache is better but not gone. I finally realized (duh!) it's my usual PMS headache so it will disappear within a few days.

Today:
1. Devotions - Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you. - Matthew 5:44
2. Pills - meds and vitamins taken.
3. Water - on the first of 3 20oz bottles. I've got my usual pre-TOM water weight swelling. Lots of water can only help. :p
4. Healthy eating - more fruits, more veggies, more whole natural foods. I think I'll end up grazing through the day. I nibbled some baby carrots. I've had a peach yogurt. I've got plenty of other healthy stuff with me like a banana, a grapefruit, cashews. I'm eating a small amount at a time, just until my princess-sized tummy is satisfied. I'm trying to ensure I get some protein in there too.
5. Exercise - didn't do any yesterday but maybe today....
6. Scale - with all the pre-TOM water weight, 157....ugh!!!

TOM surprised me at work this morning. You'd think by the age of 41 I wouldn't have any more TOM-related "accidents". There's no damage visible to anyone else, thank goodness! I figure the day has nowhere to go but up! :goodvibes :sunny:

EDIT: 1:30 PM
Uggghhhhh!! This headache is driving me crazy.

3. Water - 40oz down, starting on my 3rd bottle.
4. Healthy eating - Finished the carrots, had 2oz cashews, had a banana.

Hi Doe!

Sending some :wizard: your way for a wonderful day today! I hope that you are feeling better. :goodvibes

I hate it when that happens! Glad you were able to catch it in time! :earseek:

Great job on the healthy snacks! That is a great way to avoid the EVM. How is your foot doing?

~Amanda
