Doreen's Fresh Start & Success Story! (Welcome Friends!)

hope the tennis match went well--i remember i was so nervous my first match!!
hope everyone starts feeling better soon

Hi Doreen,

I wantd to thank you for your posts in my journal. My life is happier and calmer with you in it sweetie. I hope you and DS are feeling a bit better. It takes time to recover fro intestional issues. Not only do you get dehydrated, but it throws your electrolytes off. Rest and fluids are the key.

Happy bday to Todd.

Take care,
Beth

:sunny: Good morning, Doreen! :sunny: I hope today finds you in a :) place.

Happy belated birthday to Todd! :bday: Are you making birthday plans for the weekend?

Drink lots of water, Doreen. Are you teaching more classes today? Good luck with that if you are.

How did Steph's tennis match go?

Take care,
,
Erin

DD and her partner won their doubles match and the team won the overall match. DD was not very elated about her win, though, because they were playing girls that were way below them in ability and DD felt bad for them. She admitted she kept trying to set up shots for them so they could at least score a point. They never did score, so DD and her partner won 6 - 0, a bittersweet victory.

DS is still not feeling well and is home sick again today. He's bummed because that means he'll miss marching band for the first football game. :( The good news is that they have no school tomorrow or Monday, so he has until Tuesday to fully recover.

As for me, my teaching duties are over now. I got my yearly evaluation and it was a good one. I'll be tying up some loose ends today and moving on to other projects at work in the near future. I'm back in my original cubicle. They wanted the new one empty so they can clean out all the paperwork from the previous occupant. The wheels of progress turn slowly. :teeth:

Today:
1. Devotions - Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and He shall sustain thee: He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. - Psalm 55:22 This is a hard one for me. It's telling me that I can count on God to carry my burdens. However, I have to learn to totally give my burdens to Him, not HALF give them. I also have to learn to PERMANENTLY give Him my burdens and not take them back. Still working on this area.
2. Pills - taken.
3. Water - almost finished all my water yesterday, and will try again today!
4. Healthy eating - still suffering from a queasy tummy. B was yogurt w/ almonds.
5. Exercise - not a bit this week, unless you count gentle stretching. That's really all I've been able to do.
6. Scale - 155, which is OK.

I'm tired. The week is feeling long. I'm looking forward to the 3 day weekend and lots of time for rest and relaxing. My plan is to make no plans (unless a certain WISH sis is headed to KofP for any reason ;) )! :teeth:

Good morning Doe! :sunny:

Congratulations to your DD on winning her first match! :Pinkbounc

I'm sorry to hear that your DS is still not feeling well.:( At least he'll have a few days to recouperate over the weekend. Sending some healing :wizard: his way.

:bday: to Todd!!! :jumping1: Did you make plans for his birthday celebration yet?

I hope you have a wonderful day today! :flower: Take care!

:rotfl: Great minds think alike, honey! I was thinking we might need some K of P time! I almost wrote it in your journal this a.m.! How does Saturday grab you? I'm open at this point. Let me know. . . :)

Let's get this party started!!

It's Friday, with a 3 day weekend coming up in mere hours! I got to work early this morning so I can leave at 3:30 this afternoon - WOO HOO!!

Today:
1. Devotions - Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee. - Isaiah 26:3 Keep your mind on God for as many minutes during the day as possible. This may be difficult at first for you are unused to spiritual concentration. Practice will make it easier. Norman Vincent Peale
2. Pills - taken.
3. Water - yep.
4. Healthy eating - B was yogurt w/ walnuts.
5. Exercise - not yet.
6. Scale - 156 :( Guess it was the late dinner of food that wasn't especially healthy.

I know how to eat right but it takes time to plan meals and have the right foods on hand. At the moment, I'm coping day by day with the new fall schedule and I'm just not very well prepared for healthy eating. I can hear the negative self-talk in my head, berating me for knowing what to do but not following through. However I consciously choose to cut myself some slack and counter that negative self-talk with calming thoughts and reassurances that these feelings of un-ease are temporary and I'll be totally back in the game very soon.

Today I'll do the best I can.

Remember the quote in your signature! I know I am going to be repeating it to myself today!

:cheer2: 2 more weeks until the St. Louis Extravaganza! :cheer2:

Hi Doreen!
It does take time to plan the right meals....cutting yourself some slack is the right thing to do! Hang in there and have a great weekend.

Hey, girl. I'm traveling solo tomorrow :), so we're going to have a WISH-sis Day Out. I CAN'T WAIT!:cloud9:

See you at N-M at 10 a.m., Doreen.

Doe:

It really is a Friday party today and I'm enjoying my last day at my "old" job and ready for my new life...thanks for your kind words in my journal.

Please offer my congrats to you DD on her win. Remember when she was new at this sport? She has come a long way that she can feel sorry for her opponents because she has more skill.

Your Thursday devotions about burdens really hit home for me. Faith is a hard concept for someone who always feels the need to be in and take control. It is also difficult to remember that the good Lord wouldn't give us burdens and problems to solve if He didn't have faith in our abilities to manage and learn from them.

Again, happy holiday weekend and DS needs to rest and recharge too. Tell him that seniors need sleep too.

-Laurie :sunny:

 to you, dear WISH-sis. What a fun visit! I sure had a nice time talking with you. . .hope I didn't talk your ear off! :listen: Enjoy the rest of the weekend and get some time in there to just kick back and relax!

Love to you and all of yours,
Erin

Just read Erin's journal entry and realized I have only 30 minutes to be at church. :teeth:

My visit with Erin yesterday truly lifted me up and brought extra :sunny: and :goodvibes to my day. Talking with her always makes me feel better about myself and the struggles I face. Love ya, WISH-sis!

I've finally realized that I've been at this healthy eating stuff long enough that I know what healthy eating is for me. I don't need to count carbs or points or anything else. I really just need to be mindful of what I'm eating, make wise choices, and monitor portion size. I also need to be mindful of WHY I'm eating at any given time, to recognize when I'm eating for fuel, for nutrition and when I'm eating emotionally. I'm officially no longer "counting" carbs but I will continue to generally choose lower carb options and avoid taking in large amounts of carbs. I've been doing this for a while but I've felt guilty in the back of my mind that I'm not counting, that I couldn't assign a number to each food and tally up my day. No more guilt, just healthy choices and portion sizes!

Today is a new day! :sunny: I think I'll focus on what I can do to be make it a healthy day! Good food, plenty of water, a little movement, a happy attitude - that sums it up. :cool1:

 and  to you, too, Doreen. I felt so positive and upbeat after our talk yesterday. . .I think we're on the right track with so many things. :cool1: :cool1: We're going to make our 40's FABULOUS! :goodvibes

I'm going to get those other two books together and mail them out to you this week. I'd love to hear your comments.

Take care and enjoy your day off tomorrow--
ERin

Hi Doe!

I'm glad that you and Erin had a wonderful day together. :goodvibes Hope you have a great day today! :sunny: Take care!

DD had tennis practice this morning. DH and I took our lawn chairs, found a shady tree and read while she played. :cloud9: It was so relaxing to sit outside, at peace.

I took my pills this AM. I've been drinking water steadily. I had yogurt w/ walnuts for breakfast and 1/2 a PBJ & 1/2C baked beans for lunch. That half sandwich & beans didn't look like much on the plate, but I really am full and satisfied.

Life is good. :sunny:

It sounds like you're having a nice day. Ahh, sitting under the tree with a book. . . :cloud9: . It really is the simple things in life that create joy, isn't it?

The books are sitting on the dining room table; I'll get them out to you tomorrow. Out of print??? :confused3 I don't get that, but whatever, they're coming to you soon. :)

. I'm glad you're my special WISH-sis.

Erin
