Doreen's Fresh Start & Success Story! (Welcome Friends!)

Boy, I don't think I've ever posted so much in one day!

Laurie, someone must have heard you when you said I seem to be comfortable doing training. I just got out of a meeting where I've been assigned to train 120+ people in my area. It will be a short 1 hour session on "Continuity of Government". In other words, we have a plan in place in case our building is compromised or unable to be used (think fire, flood, etc.). Everyone needs to know that this plan is in place, how they will be contacted, where our alternate site is, the priority of which business functions will need to be restored first, etc. I have until the end of August to make sure the existing presentation materials are ready, get everyone signed up, hold the training sessions and ensure that everyone has attended.

This actually sounds like fun to me. :p It's something very concrete and that I feel I am good at. :sunny:

I will try to keep my thoughts a little more to myself (what is that in the Potter series--Occulmency?). But I do definitely notice that your posts are very upbeat when you are conducting training sessions! So cheers for your new project and a very important one in these times.

I have PM'd you with the high school survey questions...I hope that I am not imposing too much with my request. Please convey my many thanks to your son and daughter and let them know that they have much to teach me...the new teacher.

I'm so happy that you have received a clean bill of health. I'm back for a followup exam on Sept. 1st after a change in meds. I wish my ol'body would feel as young as my spirit! (And I've been told I'm an old soul.)

Thanks again!

  :flower: TGIF!!! :flower:

Thank Goodness It's Friday!! Let the Friday party commence! :cool1:

Our pictures at church turned out very nice. When we finally get them (a month from now) I'll scan one in and post it.

Today:
1. Devotions - Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind. - Romans 12:2 Fill your mind with thoughts of God and good things.
2. Pills - just took them
3. Water - I'm drinking up! Cheers!
4. Healthy eating - B was yogurt w/ walnuts, L will be a ham egg cheese bacon croissant, snack will be 2 string cheese
5. Exercise - a rest day
6. Scale - 155

I never did get my 2 miles in last evening. My foot is still a bit sore so I'm going to cut back to walking a mile every day and see if that helps. No more running until the soreness is all gone.

Today I'll be working on my training assignment, making my task list so I can just work down through it.

Tonight I'll take DD to a friend's house for a sleepover and then I can just spend time relaxing and reading.

Onward into my day! :sunny:

:Pinkbounc  :Pinkbounc  :Pinkbounc  :Pinkbounc  IT'S FRIDAY!

Happy Friday, to you, Doreen! :goodvibes And congratulations on your new project! I think you're going to have fun with this!

You sound like you have a good healthy plan for the day. My favorite part? The relaxing and reading at home! :p How 'bout I come over with my cross stitch and we'll just sit together? :hyper2:

Have yourself a great day filled with abundant blessings!
,
Erin

Good morning, Doreen!
Here's some :goodvibes , :sunny: , :wizard: ,and  for your day!

,
Erin

I still wish we had a yawning smilie. :p Maybe this little guy will do :faint:

Yesterday was totally devoted to DD's sweet 16 birthday party. She and her two best friends decided to combine and have one party in the middle of their birthdays. They had 10 friends + the 3 of them. There was food, balloons, beach ball volleyball, time to chat and giggle, tiki torches, bubbles, ice cream cake, etc. etc. Everyone had a very good time, but the other mom and I that put everything together yesterday....we're exhausted. :p

Today I'm devoted to 3 loads of laundry, a couple hours of shopping at the mall with DD and my mom, and lots more reading and relaxing. :teeth:

Exercise, healthy eating, etc. - I'm so tired that I just don't care. I'm still having pain issues with my food so I'll spend time researching the problem on the web. Tomorrow is soon enough to focus on being healthy.

Good morning, Doreen. It sounds like the party was quite a success. Thanks for all the details--you know I need to know these things for future reference. :p You know you left out the tiaras, though. They had them, didn't they? princess: princess: princess:

You MUST be tired--YIKES! And today is busy, too! Try to make the time for rest and rejuvenation, 'cause, in case you haven't heard: tomorrow's MONDAY. :guilty:

 to you, dear WISH-sis,
Erin

Sounds like a fun party - I hope the girls had a great time!!! What fun to be 16 again (well, maybe not :) ). My dd turns 16 in December and the COUNTDOWN IS OFFICIALLY ON!!!!! Or so she says. :)

Keep on
Chris

:sunny: Hey, it's Monday, and it's not so bad after all, is it? :sunny: I hope you're feeling happy and ready to take on the day. Is it still hot there? It's cooled a bit here, but it's still quite humid. How's your foot?

Take care, dear WISH-sis!
,
Erin

Monday has come around much too quickly. ::yes:: However, I'm ready to make the most of it. There wasn't alot of "healthy" in my weekend but today is a new day and I've brought my usual healthy food from home.

Today is the start of the hectic schedule. DD starts tennis practice with the high school team. We spent lots of time yesterday getting all the right stuff. Her tennis shoes from last year were shot so we got new shoes. There were new socks, shoe deodorizers, tank tops and lightweight sweatpants. Then there were the new jeans, cords and tops for school. I still can't bear to spend $64 on the messenger bag she wants  but we have 2 weeks until school starts to figure out how she'll carry her books.

Erin, you asked about the tiaras at the sweet 16 party. DD and both her friends really wanted tiaras for their party (to wear with their casual tops & jean shorts???). Well, we put them on at the beginning of the party and they lasted about 5 minutes. None of the girls wanted to take the time to let us tease and spray their hair so the tiaras would stay in, so they quickly tired of them feeling unstable or falling out. :confused3

Today:
1. Devotions - But as many as received Him, to them gave He power. - John 1:12
2. Pills - taken
3. Water - have been slipping on this one. I'm on the first of at least 3 12oz mugs at work.
4. Healthy eating - B was yogurt w/ walnuts, snack will be 2 string cheese, L will be sausage egg cheese croissant. Once again dinner has been left unplanned.
5. Exercise - still need to research my foot issue. It's been a week since I've done my training miles. My foot feels much better but still not good enough to justify any running or any serious walking miles.
6. Scale - not pretty at 156, due to my overindulgences of the weekend.

We found a nice messenger bag at American Eagle for $39.50. It was something we both were OK with. . .

Erin

Okay I'm really out of it - what are messenger bags?

You and I both enjoyed a weekend of over indulgence. You know what - it's okay. As long as we start over again on Monday. :) I hope you had a good day today - keep me posted on how that foot feels.

~Amanda

:sunny: Good morning, Doreen. :sunny: Happy Tuesday to you. How's the
"Continuity in Government" presentation coming? What a great assignment for you! :Pinkbounc

What, Amanda, :confused3 you don't know what a messenger bag is?!?! I guess that's OK, I didn't know either until Doreen showed me one in the mall. :teeth: Picture this: Pony Express Guy has a satchel type bag he wears across his body. Are you seeing it? That's a messenger bag. The one my DD got, though, isn't leather or anything--it's hot pink canvas with a green American Eagle eagle pin on the side. The one Doreen's DD saw was at Fossil and was (correct me if I'm wrong here, Doreen), soft dusty olive corduroy (sp?). Back in the day :p , I would've called it a book bag, but well, that's so mundane when it costs $40-$80. You know what I'm saying? :snooty:

So, Doreen, I hope this Tuesday is good to you, and that you find  , :sunny: , :goodvibes , and :wizard: around every corner. Which reminds me, are you settled in your new "cubicle sweet cubicle" yet?

Take care, dear WISH-sis, and a  for your day--
Erin

Oh, my gosh! I didn't realize tomorrow was your anniversary!!! You know what this means, don't you? We have to start an anniversary celebration tradition! Maybe next year we can celebrate together the weekend before with a cocktail on the veranda of B. Breeze? :hyper2: :hyper2:

Do you have any special plans? Well, that we can talk about on the WISH , of course.

Erin

:sunny: I'm ready to start my day! :sunny:

I just stopped by Erin's journal and the positive :goodvibes have me smiling and looking forward to my day too! Good feelings are contagious!

Yesterday - oh let's not talk about yesterday. I've always been taught that if you don't have anything nice to say, then you shouldn't say anything at all. :teeth:

Today:
1. Devotions - have to look up today's verse
2. Pills - not yet
3. Water - not yet
4. Healthy eating - no plan
5. Exercise - no
6. Scale - 156 :guilty:

Gee, I don't seem very well-prepared for my day, do I?

I've finally pinned down the cause of my foot pain. I bought some arch supports for my shoes last evening. So far they seem to be helping. I'm hoping to go back to my training tomorrow, although I'm going to cut way back on the running for now and stick to walking until I'm sure my arches are healed.

DD has tennis today and DS has a band rehearsal. Tonight we'll celebrate as a family - tomorrow is our 20th wedding anniversary but DS has to work so we'll celebrate a bit early. I'm hoping to talk everyone into going out for a nice dinner - Outback Steakhouse, Macaroni Grill or a local restaurant. 20 years of marriage is definitely something to celebrate!

Well, time for me to jump into the workday. First I'll head to the cafeteria to pick up some breakfast and a big bottle of water.

:rockband: I feel good! I knew that I would, now! So good, so good!

Happy 20th Anniversary!!!! :goodvibes

I hope you and your family have a wonderful dinner tonight to celebrate! :jumping1:

Have a great day Doe! :sunny:

Happy 20th Wedding Anniversay! My we are celebrating a lot around here! Macaroni Grill sounds so yummy! :p

~Amanda

Last night's celebratory dinner got scratched in favor of taking DS to the doctor's. He's fine, but the appointment at 7:10 scrapped any chance of dinner out, so dinner has been rescheduled. :p Never a dull moment at my house! :teeth:

Today:
1. Devotions - The thing, which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me. - Job 3:25 This warns against self-fulfilling prophecies. Positive thoughts bring positive outcomes, but negative thoughts also bring negative outcomes. I'll focus on the positive today!
2. Pills - need to take them
3. Water - started
4. Healthy eating - B was a bagel w/ butter to settle my stomach. Not sure about the rest of the day.
5. Exercise - a definite maybe. I'll try to get a one mile walk in this evening to test my foot.
6. Scale - didn't have the heart to look. :(

The arch supports in my shoes are helping. I also spent time last night with ice on the sore areas of my foot. I may try an easy stroll this evening followed by more ice.

I'm glad it's Wednesday - halfway through the workweek! I'm ready for the weekend already. :D

Good morning Doe,

Your devotion from this morning looks a lot like mine. :goodvibes What a blessing to see what I read in my devotional this morning, reinforced in your devotion in your journal. Thanks for sharing!

Let's take this Wednesday and celebrate the positive in our lives! :cheer2:

Have a blessed day! :sunny:
