Dooney & Bourke Disney collaboration ~ part 4

Kathy, I hope you didn't think I was questioning you. I think it's great that you posted your experience with treating the leather. I'm sure that's exactly what people are looking for - personal experiences. Like I said, I messed with mine too, and since the water spots were driving me crazy, I don't regret it.

I just figured it's probably a good idea to make sure people know what the official word from Dooney is.

btw, I think the white balloon bags might use vachetta as well. I don't have anything in that print right now though, so I can't say for sure.

No, I didn't think that but I read your link and got worried that I would mess everyone up. I am a worrier and feel guilty very easily:sad2: So, I wanted all to know to ignore my advice:rolleyes1. You and I are cool:cool1: Yes, I think you are right, the balloon bags in white are the untreated leather. I have two things in the balloon bags but both in black and forgot about the white background ones. Anyway, sorry for the confusion with your post. I just paniced after reading all that on that link:hug:

Kathy, can you recommend a certain brand or type that you used? I have yet to use my large Sketch bag but think I want to do this to the straps. When I used my white balloon print mini Margot on a trip the leather got some water spots and I'd like to avoid it with this one. :thumbsup2

As far as denim discoloring - I've had that problem with the chair in my sewing room. It's off white and jeans leave a bluish tint on it too. :(

Okay, but I warned you to ignore me:rolleyes1:rotfl: We used good old fashioned saddle soap. Just follow the directions. I did have a mini crossbody, not Disney but Dooney that got all kinds of water spots on the front that had the vachetta untreated leather on it. It was a large flap of leather in the front of the bag. The spots were everywhere and didn't fade with time, so my son treated it with the saddle soap and they all blended together and all the leather matched. I have since sold that purse on ebay and it looked new and the buyer was thrilled with it. It was after that I had him treat my Disney one, the cindy tote sketch and wristlets. They look nice but I still baby them, but I baby all my Disney Dooneys.:)

So what about smells? :confused3 This purse I got off ebay smells funny. Not like smoke or pets exactly, but something distinct and odd. Sealing the purse in a bag with a box of baking soda for a day or so didn't help. I have it out now trying to "air it out" but I don't know if that will help. DH suggested Frebreeze, but I doubt I should spray that on the purse. Right? (It's the medium sketch tote.)

Maybe try spraying Oust around it, not in or on it, but just in the general area? It's supposed to kill whatever makes the smell....that really sucks. Smells are hard to get rid of. Maybe some time outside in the fresh air.

BTW, a lot of the ladies here are on the FB page. That seems to be getting more traffic theses days. You might get some suggestions there too. Good luck, let us know how you do!

Thanks so much for the info! :)

I wrote about my comic satchel being damaged it's not huge so I did decide to keep it. Only one spot you can see.the other one hardly!I notice it cause I'm weird lol I just don't wanna send it back and happening again or getting a bag I don't like the placement. So I'm getting a 40 dollar gc which works out I guess . My dh said buy another bag with that gc and he'll pay for the rest. I'm like maybe lol like a different style of Disney Dooney

Wow, I think you did well:cool1: I love my satchel and now you get another purse.:woohoo: Way to go.

Okay, so I think I finally identified the weird smell on my new-to-me purse... mothballs! :scared1: Yuck. But airing it out does seem to be helping. I set it out on my back patio for a bit today, but then got paranoid about sun damage/fading. Can sunlight harm the medium sketch tote?

Well, my shipment from the Friday sale on the 17th, is finally on a truck for delivery. Should be here in about 2 hours or so. I hope this credit card holder is better than my other one!

Erika we will be here waiting to see what you received. Don't forget to post a pic.:) Lots of pixie dust for you. pixiedust:

Good luck with your credit card placement, Erika pixiedust: What bag are you getting :confused3

The pink comic barrel, I have to return the mini black I ordered, because my phone won't fit.
And the DL cross body. I really shouldn't have ordered that, but since I am going to DL in June, I want to make sure I get one.

Lynn the 50th Dl wristlet you wanted is on disney shopping today. Just wanted to let you know.

And the DL. I don't even know enough of this print to know what's good placement and what isn't. Mickey has been decapitated, but I don't know that I care that much with this one...
