Dooney & Bourke Disney collaboration ~ part 4

Great placement Lulu'sMom! I can't decide if I want that bag too or not. If the DISNEYPAL code works Thursday and they are in stock I think I am going to go for it! :goodvibes

I'd like to but I'm afraid I'll get bad placement.

Would it be horrible to buy one at Disneyland with good placement and then return one from online if I get bad placement? Please don't judge me. Lol.

Hi ladies, here for some info please. I have one Dooney bag I LOVE -- so much that I ordered a second one on sale so I have a "backup" in my closet. It is a small black bag with Mickey silhouettes on it, very simple (I think it might be called "Wonder.") I would love to add to my collection but here is my question, as I am concerned about "durability." If I splurge on an expensive purse, I really want it to last. My black bag has black leather trim, so that has held up beautifully... But it is the FINISH of the new bags that concerns me. The fabric my bag is made of, feels like it is covered in a zillion little tiny "dots" of the vinyl/plastic-y stuff they coat the fabric in. This is very durable. Yet when I have fondled the newer bags at WDW recently, they FEEL different. The new one I liked, for example, is white with comic strip design and it has rosy pink leather trim. But the bag felt "floppier" than mine, not as stiff. The coating seemed to be applied more "lightly" and not in those nice, chunky little "bits" that are on my black bag. The new bags somehow seemed to me that they might not be very durable. Can anyone comment, maybe someone who has a few of the bags and could compare one finish versus the other? I believe the original white bags (Sketch?) have the chunky coating like my black one does. Why are the newer bags being made differently, and can someone tell me they hold up well too? I am hard on purses!

Thanks for all the fun info here... and another two cents... I have a couple of Harvey's seatbelt bags in the Disney designs and I LOVE them. They tend to be heavy, so I have only ordered the smaller ones, but BOY are they tough. I have had my original one (in white) well over a year and it is PRISTINE. Just bought a bright red/blue one on Main Street and can't wait to use it!

I think your question may have gotten lost among all the posts about the WDW release.

First I should clarify that I have absolutely no insider info, but I'll share my thoughts anyway. The older finish seems to be fine on anything with a colored background, so it works great on your black bag.

Bags in that finish with a white or cream background have been known to have problems with yellowing though. It's not a given, I have a white DCL tote that still looks great, but my WDW bucket bag definitely has a yellow tinge to it now. The yellowing doesn't bother me quite as much on the anniversary bags since they have an antique feel anyway, and I got mine for a great price and I love the placement, so I'm keeping it. But it is incredibly disappointing for handbags at this price point to have those kinds of quality issues.

I think many of us are hoping the new shinier finish will solve the yellowing problem. I don't know that it's been around long enough to say for sure though.

Hope that helps.

I haven't had any yellowing on my white sketch gigunda bag but I do have color transfer. They replaced it for me once already and it was a fiasco to get good placement on it (I had a perfect mickey and minnie on the front and they sent me back two decapitated ones). They did fix it though - they had the warehouse send the rep five bags and he sent me the best one. But I have color transfer again. Not sure what to do and I don't carry it much due to the insane size (and have others now too) but I do love that sketch pattern. I may send back again and see what they say.

Anyone else have this issue?

I remember being at the World when the new finish sketch bags were coming out. I simply could not make a decision while I was there, as I wanted to do more research! I did come here to ask about it, but at the time many weren't even aware they had begun producing the shiny finish bags.

Long story short, (or longer,;))they had a great code and I ended up getting my sketch (original finish) with decent placement online, so I kept it. I do anticipate it yellowing, but for now I just love the bag, it brings me so much joy just looking at it! :goodvibes

So tempted to get the charm mini barrel bag...but worried about placement. That's not much fabric to take a risk on...

So at the site, I put my bag in used the codes and everything works...

Now I just have to pay for it.... hahaha

Well I guess I did not read all of the fine print, you have to use a Disney Visa to use the 25% code?

I don't have a Disney Visa....

The email I got with the code this morning, said it was a sale preview for Disney Visa cardholders.

Ah, I haven't checked email yet. I do see over on the FB page everyone is talking about it though. Someone said try it anyway. I think someone said the code worked when they tried it before logging in?? Also someone said it's not working for the DD iPad cases.

What?? Are you sure? I didn't see anything about having to use the Disney Visa. Here is the link to the coupon info: http://www.disneystore.com/mallmarketing/mn/1013202/

It did not work for me, I tried to get the purse and pay but then it made me use a Disney Visa.

Now maybe tomorrow it will not require the Disney Visa...?

So I did order two of the charms mini barrel bags! I added them to my cart and used the code before I even knew I had to use my Disney Visa (was going to anyways). Really hoping for good placement, that's why I ended up getting two. Hoping everyone gets their bags tomorrow! This is a great sale! :goodvibes

I ordered two buttons crossbodys for the same exact reason. Keeping fingers crossed for Splash Mountain and Thumper. Watch me get Splash on one bag and Thumper on the other! :rotfl: And I ordered a black charms satchel too. :rolleyes1
