Dooney & Bourke Disney collaboration ~ part 3

I have the money saved and was all prepared to buy a new bag when we were there Jan 15-22. Why did they have to wait until now???

I may have to get on the phone with the Disney Shopping people!

Actually I called Disney Merchandise line this weekend 1 877-560 6477 and was informed they were not available. The CM I spoke with had no idea what I was trying to buy. She offered me the 55th disneyland dooneys. I searched like crazy this past xmas trip for a new disney dooney because I had $240 in disney reward dollars. But, since there were no new prints, I spent the money on chamilia disney beads.

Maybe you'll have better luck calling Merchandise Line now that the bags are in the parks for sale.

Did they come with the medallions? I ordered a balloon Margot and it didn't come with one. DS is saying they don't have any more replacement medallions to send out and Dooney's telling me they aren't supposed to come with them. I'm SO frustrated with DS and Dooney right now over the whole medallion issue.

Here's a visual:

I bought the white margot on e-bay, so I have no idea when or where the seller purchased it.

I bought the black margot from DS, and they sent the heart dangle after the fact. I did order back when the balloon collection was first released and the pictures and desriptions all showed/mentioned heart dangles.

I have a feeling that the only reason some of us got hearts is because folks called Disney on the website pictures/desriptions. I have a strong suspicion that leaving the heart off was a cost cutting measure and they fully intended to sell everything in the balloon collection without them.

Has anyone here actually purchased anything yet?

I'm pretty torn on the styles, though. I have the large tote in the original sketch, so I'm not sure which bag I'd get in the new pattern. I'm not sure if I'm a big fan of the letter carrier. I looked at the original sketch letter carriers in the parks last fall, but just wasn't sure.

Has anyone been a bit apprehensive about the letter carrier but then purchased it and loved it?

Thanks everyone. When I asked her get it for me, and said it was in MouseGears, she went there first. I showed her this pic and she said it was still there. Actually the only Kristen tote there.

My travel agent is currently on the Dream cruising and may pick up something for me too. Just waiting to hear back.

Hi, I understand your frustration. I was given the balloon Collette style as a gift. I've called D&B also, and first I was told that without a receipt, they could do nothing. I called a second time and gave them my registration information (style number.) The rep looked up the "style sheet" info and said that it should not have come with a heart medallion. She said it was given the metal anniversary tag on the bag instead (small gold square in the middle of the bag towards the bottom.) That made me feel better. I also held up the heart medallion from my sketch tote next to the balloon bag. I decided I wouldn't like the look of the pink next to the bag. So even though I know some people have gotten the medallions, I've decided that I am fine with the bag the way it is. I don't think it was a cost cutting measure; I think it was designed this way, and that there was a mix-up when disneystore.com originally posted the descriptions and pictures. I think disneystore.com had to make things right for that original period of time and provide some medallions - so they wouldn't be accused of false advertising. Anyway, just try to enjoy your bag and forget about the frustration. Hope that helps a bit. I know everyone may not feel this way...but if you focus on the frustration, the fun of the bag will go away. Hope everyone has a good day - I know it is cold and windy here but many have it much worse!

Thanks Zanna for the link to the pics. Can't stop drooling! I don't know which I would prefer, the bucket or the Kristen. I have a non Disney Dooney in the bucket style and it's a nice size for what I carry daily. I know the Kristen is quite big but it seems you get so much more space and print for just $20 more that it seems like the best value. I have a Cindy sketch tote. I wish I could see a side by side comparison of the Cindy tote and the Kristen tote to get an idea of how much bigger the Kristen is.

However, it is a great bag to carry things to work or on a car trip; it seems very durable and well made. I also have the 55th messenger because I loved the pattern but wanted something smaller than the tote to carry when I run errands, etc. The bucket style of the 40th pattern appeals to me because it is smaller than the Kristen but still a good size for every day use. I agree with another post, which asks for more zippered styles. That would be nice too. If someone can tell me how to post pictures, I can take pictures of the purses next to each other and post them.

Hi dizdreamer.. I would love to see photos of the kristen next to the cindy sketch. I have the messenger in the 55th pattern and it is one of my favorite styles. I am debating between the bucket style or the kristen for the 40th print. But, I have heard from other disers that the kristen as you mentioned is uncomfortable due to the short handles.

I don't mind the short straps on the Kristen tote. When I use bags with short straps I just carry them on my arm or by the handles. It does sound rather large though. I'm guessing the bucket bag may be the way to go. Since my next trip probably won't be until at least October, I have plenty of time to decide! Unless disneystore.com gets them soon. Thanks in advance if you are able to post photos of the Cindy tote next to the Kristen. Thanks also to Catira for posting the info on how to post photos. I've never done it before myself!

I think that you need to have at least 15 posts before you can post pictures though. So you will need to chat with us a little longer first.

I'm sure someone will buy it. I have paid more than retail on an item on ebay when I see the exact placement I want. Ordering from disneyshopping.com unfortunately you have no idea what your disney dooney will look like. But, I am not bidding on the kirsten tote. I wonder if any diser is or intends to bid on the messenger bag. It could be a bidding frenzy if several disney dooney addicts want it. I hope to choose my 40th bag if I get to go in October. Otherwise, I hope someone is willing to ship me a bag if they have an upcoming trip If all else fails EBAY, if I find a reasonable price Now to decide what style
