Closed threads are cool imho; it's the deleted ones I hate. I love to go back to page 7 or 8 just looking for closed threads. They are usually quite entertaining on a boring tv night.

When would they delete them? I have seen some closed for obvious reasons, and other hve been closed for no reason that I could see, other that two or three people having a very strong opinion about the subject matter!!

They go poof when there is just so much to delete that there wouldn't be a thread left. Say a poster says something delete worthy, then a whole bunch of people come on to give their two cents and flame the person and they all quote the original idiots post so he knows they are talking to him, then all those posts need to be deleted cause they contain the original delete worthy post. Etc.
