shouldnt VISA card members be entitled to a little something extra with this whole 7 for 5 deal? I mean, if i can get this deal without the card what benifits do i get with it? Last year you saved alittle more if you were a disney club member and booked the 7 for 4 deal, couldnt Visa do the same like giving some disney dollars or something? What incentive is there to pay this trip off with your visa cc?

I understand how you feel. I also wish we'd get some Disney Visa perks.
But a good incentive for me is that I get points/dollars from DVisa. I have more than $400 free money just by charging everything I can and paying it off in full every month. I still can hardly believe it. Disney is paying me to use their Visa card!

I'm waiting too!!! Even though my trip isn't until Dec. and I know it will be a while before any discounts come out for then, it would be nice to know Disney Visa cardholders are getting a discount. I'm really hoping they release some and I also get some for my trip!!!
BTW- already have over $100 on my card!!!princess:

I just called asking questions about MVMCP and asked the cm if any codes were coming out for Disney Visa cardholders and he said all he knew of was the package. He checked and said there was a room only in the computer through August 28th. He put in POFQ standard room and quoted me $84/night- great price!!!
He said the code had not been released yet, but he talked like if you called and asked he would book it! worth a shot!!!
Good luck!!! Here's hoping for December!!!

I agree. We are not getting great perks with Disney Visa. I have considered cancelling it and getting an airline visa that would get me an eventual free flight.
The disney points don't add up that fast. I think it is 1 point (dollar) per hundred paid. The deals don't come out that often either.

I, too am plannin on going in December and hoping for Visa rates. I just went in April and got $89/night at POFQ. I'm hoping it will be lower than that? What do you guys think I could possibly expect for a rate the first week of December (value season)?

what?
ok - on my OLD NAVY credit card I get $5 back for every $100 spent and on my Gap card I get $10 for every $250.

$1 for every $100? that's nuts!

LOL, it does sound nuts, but for me it works out great. I guess I'm a heavy credit card user, I charge everything I can, even KFC in the drive-thru takes cards now!

I thought about the rewards from other cards, but my focus was on saving for Disney, and this is an effortless way to do it. My sis has a Toys R Us Visa and a few others, but I really don't want rewards dollars for anything else but Disney.

When I first got the Disney Visa, I thought, this is going to take forever to even get a free meal out of it, but in a year's time, it just added up. I now have almost $500 free money, because my FIL just booked his overseas plane tickets with my card (he gave me the cash), and it cost $3000 for his 4 tickets. That's $30 more for me, for simply using my card!

That's GREAT for some!! ::yes:: I have the Disney Visa too..but only use it in DL and WDW. I would rather use my AMEX PLAT Skymiles card, and receive Skymiles towards FREE/UPGRADED Flights. But...that's just me. I use my AMEX for everything. AND, when I spend more than 25,000 in a year (both DH & I have our own accounts...and each surpass this mark easily...LOL), we receive 10,000 bonus skymiles.

I too...was shocked at the measley points awarded through the Disney Credit Card. Hopefully, they will adjust this over time...and offer MORE distinctive perks for cardholders! ;) I reserved a West Coast Cruise yesterday (actually...several, until we narrow it down), and put the deposits on the AMEX card. Even though the Disney Card offers a special (no interest/payments for 6 months) it's not worth the $80.00~$100.00! It will reap me a load of skymiles, and even more with excursions, etc. For every $500 I spend through June, I also receive a bonus 1000 skymiles! These are the "incentives" I wish Disney would create! Like, for each PASS, etc....BONUS POINTS! :hyper: I would use it a LOT more.

Stinkerbelle-
I didn't get the Visa card for that reason! Only 1% was not enough incentive for me. So I got an airline card where you get a point for every dollar spent. You only need 8000 points to get a flight travel voucher for $100.

I figured I'd use the kick back from the card to get to disney.:D

If they offer great deals that are exclusive to cardholders then I might get one, but until then I wont get the Disney Visa.

And as the original poster said, they aren't offering much different then what the general public can get.

According to the "Current Offers" section on the Disney Visa website, if you book using your Card you get $25 extra Disney $$$ at checkin, in addition to the 7 for 5 rate.

Plus, I believe they still have it set up so that you get 0% interest for six months on the WDW vacation packages when you use your Disney Visa to book and pay for them.

And the $1 Disney dollar per $100 spent isn't so bad. When you consider that Delta now makes you shell out 50,000 SkyMiles for any sort of direct flight, it strikes me as the Disney incentive is better.

Plus I like that Bright Red card in my wallet. Easy to distinguish. :teeth:

A Round-trip ticket on DELTA airlines is 25,000 skymiles. First class travel is 45,000. You may "upgrade" for 20,000 skymiles and pay a certain % of the fare. It's a bargain...considering they gift you with about 15,000 skymiles just for your first use of the card! My girlfriend uses hers for her Cell~phone, and AT&T, etc. She earned enough points through PARTNER incentive programs in the first year...to receive FREE travel (TWO ROUND TRIP tickets!) for DH & herself. ::yes:: Not too shabby.

This is what I did. I bought $3000 in disney gift cards using my disney visa. I went through the upromise link which gives like 2% or something back into my childs college fund. When the gift cards came I took them to the disney store and bought disney dollars(they special ordered them for me). I then got back a disney visa-like gift card with $82 on it from my disney visa rewards. I will use the disney dollars to pay for my hotel and food and stuff down at disney.

I got the Disney Visa in order to book the "Kids-Free" offer earlier this year. I have not used it since. I have another Visa card that gives me 1% cash. If Disney offered something better (say 2%?) I would use Disney Visa exclusively. I do hope there will be some perks offered in the future

Wow! That's great! I wish I traveled enough to acquire points like that!

I have been a Delta Frequent Flyer then SkyMiles member since 1986, and up until two years ago, 25,000 miles would actually get me a flight I might actually use. Since then however, if I wanted to use 25,000 to fly to Orlando from Boston, they offer me a few flights, but with two connections. One laughable combination was BOS-LGA, then you are supposed to change airports to catch the next JFK-ATL leg, then ATL-MCO. Another one was only one stop, in Atlanta for 7 hours! These are just absurd.
:rotfl:
No to get a direct flight at any time later than 330 days, you need to use 50,000. Really, look on the website and see if you'd actually fly what they are offering you for 25,000 SkyMiles. True, most of the time you can get a flight for the lower amount; but I have yet to find one I would subject my family to.

I do have Amex now and use it for most of my shopping, but increasingly the Disney Visa is gaining ground in my wallet. I like the idea of the UPromise points (I do this too, tho not so deliberately), which effectively got picantel 3% (well done! BTW).

edited to add:
For example, here is what is available from Boston to MCO for mid-January 2005 (8 months out! we like to head south for MLK weekend): for January 13 & 14 (thurs & fri) no flights available for 25,000, some for twice that. On Sat 1/15/05 (already into the holiday wkend), they offer 4 flights at the 25,000 level, none direct, all arriving just before 1 in the morning. For the return, nothing at 25,000 on Fri & Sat, one on Thurs 1/20/05, oddly enough also arriving at ten minute to 1 AM  . This is not really a decent reward IMO.

So there might be some tix available at 25,000, and these might work for childless people, but for most flights I would actually consider flying, SkyMiles does not seem to be a realistic alternative. For our money, other airmile cards, the Disney Visa or the cash rewards type cards are a much better deal.

I just got a card from Disney Visa saying between now and June 30, 2004 every dollar over $350 in a month earns 2%. I know it's not a huge deal, but it's better than 1%. I got the new digital camera and some other odds and ends, so I'm earning the 2% now.l

I finally got a flight on my Northwest Visa perks. It is absolutly a nightmare anymore. March was all filled up for next year already, but if you wanted to use 90.000 miles you could get a flight. I decided to find a flight for 2 passengers and get rid of this flight mile mess. Finally they found April 6 but they said I could only get 2 first class tickets and it would use all my miles. I took it and am glad to be out of it. I figured with the 55 a year cost, I could have bought 1 ticket and went when I really wanted! So Disney Visa seems to be working for me, unless they start getting tricky like Northwest.

Right....UP UNTIL TWO YEARS AGO. Hmmmm. I believe you are suffering the effects resulting from a TERRORIST STRIKE on 9/11/2001. Join the group. DELTA frequently offers NON-STOP flights, for 25,000 skymiles. I live near LAX, and have no problem obtaining flights, non-stop, to the destinations I desire. I also only fly first class, so flights differ. BUT, my DS flies with her miles, and is able to obtain coach seats, non-stop, for 25,000 skymiles. I did check the website....and nothing has changed with regards to the skymiles. It still takes 25,000 miles for a round-trip flight in the continental US. The seats available using skymiles on each flight are ALSO very limited. So, if the flight you desire is NOT available, it's because others using miles beat you to the punch.

Sorry it is not working for you. It is pretty OBVIOUS many things have changed after 9/11, including the number of flights available on every carrier. It's a disparaging situation. Glad the DISNEY VISA card works better for you. Good luck with your airfare, reservations. Mine are already booked, since last October. Another good thing about using skymiles for is...is we're able to CHANGE our plans/itinerary as many times as we wish...with NO FEES/PENALTIES. Always works GREAT for us! ::yes::

I have the Delta American Express and I can never get a flight for 25,000 miles. Everytime we look to use our Skymiles we have to spend 50,000, andd no, that's not for First Class, it's for a regular seat. Yes, they have flights for 25,000 miles, but not on all days and you usually have to connect, in most cases make 2 connections! And I'm flying out of DC or NYC, so not small airports. We ended up finding a flight for 25,000 on Continental, a partner airline. But the price of the regular ticket was a fortune on Continental so when we bought our 3 month old daughter a ticket we had to pay a ridiculous amount anyway. The Delta flights were much cheaper than Continental, but we couldn't get any with miles. Plus, I didn't get 15,000 miles for my first purchase, that wasn't the promotion available when I got the card. At the end of the year when my 'no annual fee' is up, I am cancelling this card since there's no way I'll pay for a card that I can hardly ever use my miles with.
