I used it once when the area was actually in the rose garden. For me, it was nice to be able to spread out my poncho and rest on the ground instead of standing in the street or sitting on a concrete bench (my favorite viewing area which was no longer available with the construction screens up). Now that they have moved it and you have to stand I'm not sure. They actually did not allow anyone to stand so there was no issue of having someone suddenly hoist their child up on their shoulder or someone who was away when you got your spot and returns to their family and now you have a 6 foot tall man standing in front of a very height challenged woman. From what I understand you can sit until just before the show starts then they ask you to stand now, I'm guessing that might be because the viewing area is behind an area where there are people standing. With the rose garden area, Tink flew right over, which frankly is why I go, sometimes I won't even stay for the fireworks, I just like to get to see her fly and my trip is not complete unless that happens. So, I guess it has it's advantages in that you do have a designated area where you are guaranteed (sort of unless that person in front of you hoists their child on their shoulder or that person who was sitting in front of you when you staked out your spot turns out to be tall or if that couple in front of you decides that it truly is necessary for them to shift positions up down and side to side when you've figured out a way to peak between them) an unobstructed view of the castle during the celebrate the magic show.
