I prefer to carry as little cash as possible when I travel. Are there any eateries or shops where I will have to have cash only? I am trying to figure out how much cash I will need on hand.

Also, does anyone recall if the refrigerators in DLH have freezers?
TIA!;)

Only the food carts "require" cash, vouchers, or Disney Dollars. Everyone else takes plastic... Got Churro? :thumbsup2

There are a few places that are cash only (or disney dollars). Little kiosk type stands, like the ones that sell churros or popcorn:: for example, are cash only. Also, the fruit stands I beleive are cash only. The little soucie stands, like right after you walk through the castle or inside big thunder ranch, they take cards.

HTH a bit!!

oh, glad I asked. I assumed every place would take plastic, but it makes sense that food vendors with carts could not accomodate that. Thanks for the warning! :worship:

YES, that helps! thanks for the info. I guess I better be cash ready just in case! lol. darn!

There is an ATM on Main Street right by the park entrance if you need to get more cash, but I think it's a BofA ATM, so all other banks will be charged the convenience fee.

I believe that the refrigerators have a very small freezer compartment - enough for an ice cube tray but that's about it - you aren't going to get a container of ice cream or a frozen pizza in there! Maybe a Mickey bar...

LOL . I want a freezer to put some ice packs in there for our soft cooler. I cannot make myself pay $3.00 for a bottle of water. So I wanted to make sure I could freeze the packs. DId somebody say....Mickey bar????yummmmmyyy!:yay:

We always carry a couple of hundred in cash for things like the food carts, vending machines, and TIPS! :)

Oh my gosh, I am glad you mentioned tips. I just wrote that on my don't forget cash for...list. I had already printed out a cool download from the Disney site for Magical Disney parks letterhead. It is gorgeous. It has Cindy's castle and big fluffy clouds on the paper. I printed a thank you note to the mousekeepers of our hotel room on it. I thought it would be nice to leave a tip for them enclosed in it. Can't forget the cash though. I am a stickler in leaving housekeepers tips bc I used to work in the hotel industry. Unless of course I rec'd crappy service. That is another story. Anyways, thanks for the ....uh.....TIP!

Thanks for the info. I am spending a lot of money on this vacation but am pretty much a frugal person. I detest using other ATM's bc I do not want to pay a fee to retrieve my own money. I use Compass so I would have to pay a fee. Darn! It is good to know in case of emergency or short on cash. At that point I guess it doesn't matter, huh?

Not to be picky or anything, but shouldn't you use Sleeping Beauty Castle for Disneyland Resort tips? :upsidedow

Also, for waters inside the parks, you can ask for ice water anywhere you go, even if you don't buy anything. I was saved, completely saved, from a heinous headache during my solo trip by a HUGE cup of iced water from a counter service place in DCA one day. Didn't buy a thing, just asked for and received water. :goodvibes

Also, there's a place at Rancho del Zocalo, in the seating area (which you can get to without eating), that has a spigot for filling cups with water (that's what it's for). So you can easily refill a water bottle there. I'm sure there are other spouts like that, but that's the one I've seen.

Also, at the "bank" you can cash a check for something like $100.

I know that the fruit cart on Main Street takes cards (though not gift cards if I recall correctly) and the fruit cart in ToonTown does b/c I used a giftcard there, *I think*...the only carts I KNOW I haven't been able to use a card at are the ones that can be seen being pushed around in DCA when preparing for the PP Parade.

Well,,, as it turns out, the site did not offer the sleeping Beauty castle or I would have chosen that one as it is more appropriate. This one is themed after the "year of a million dreams" so it shows Cindy's castle. Which I don't mind bc it is beautiful! It says Disney Parks at the bottom of the page so I hope the mousekeeping staff will not be offended.:lmao:
Anyhoo, I have heard differing stories about the ice water thing, I hear that some places will offer you a cup or ice but not ice water. strange!!! It was nice that they gave you both!
thanks as always you are a wealth of information! I have just swallowed my pride and decided to bring a bit of cash with me just for incidentals. We shall see how this goes!

Ok I'll allow that. :goodvibes But only b/c I've read that the castle in the Dreams stuff is some sort of Sleeping Beauty/Cinderella Castle combo, so it covers it all. :upsidedow

Just in case you don't have enough cash, you can go to giftshops and buy Disney Dollars. You might have to coax them into looking in their registers, but it's worth it, b/c it lets you buy "cash" with your card.
