I'll let you all know when it is time to pack your bags for our new home.
I haven't posted in ages but I have been lurking and catching up....I just wanted to share my excitement that I will be "unexpectedly" staying at the Beach Club on Friday night!! Here's the story:
We had originally booked a trip for this week on a bounce back from last summer's stay. Unfortunately, my son couldn't get the time off from work and my husband, who is self employed, wasn't sure about the dates as well. I was crushed, as planning and anticipating my WDW trips is a part of my life! My daughter, who is 20, wanted to do something "tropical", so, instead of going to Disney without them, we cancelled our trip and booked a cruise for just she and I which leaves Sunday from Miami. WELL...my brother, his wife and my nieces, ages 10 and 13, will be at the Beach Club this week before heading out on their
Disney Cruise on Saturday. He suggested we fly into Orlando instead of Miami a couple of days early and surprise the girls...I thought about this a total of one second, hung up and booked the Beach Club! I was able to get a garden view room, which is all they had left, and they even gave me the discounted rate I booked my original reservation with - bonus!
I cannot tell you how excited I am. I LOVE LOVE the Beach Club. It is my "happy place", and even though we are only there for Friday night (we are driving to Miami Saturday afternoon, staying in South Beach, leaving for cruise Sunday) I will be in heaven. I am bummed out I don't get to stay club level - we have stayed there the past three trips - as I just love the CM's who work there, but it is sold out (at least for the discounted rate). We should arrive in Orlando Friday about 10:00, hoping to get the car and be at check-in by 11-11:30 latest. We can dump our bags, and head to the MK to surprise the girls at the castle - my brother has some big plan in place!
Anyway, just wanted to share in my excitement with people who "get it"!!
AWESOME!!!

back!
I'll add your one-night stay to the Be Our Guest list. Enjoy your visit and the cruise.
Out of curiosity, how much does a regular fountain drink cost? I'm trying to decide if a mug would be worth if for my Feb. visit.
Not really sure. I also don't know if the price in the parks will be the same as the price at resorts/food courts. Wonder if those prices will rise, too, especially since it looks like you can get 4 refills per cup for a limited time or something like that with the drinks you purchase at the resort.
Hang on to that question and let's see what the cost is in a month or so.
Quick question for those of you doing Magic Bands, etc. I went out to
MDE last night (we check in 10/14) and it shows 2 KTTW for both my husband and myself, but no Magic Bands = is that possibly because we both have AP's? I was very confused last night to see 2 KTTW for each of us & was afraid to click on them or do anything. It's our first ever stay at BC & it took me almost 2 hrs to get our RO reservations when they came out so I don't want to do anything to mess that up. TIA
I don't think there is anything to panic about when you see incorrect info on the MDE system. You are not the first, nor will you be the last!
I'm trying to follow the Magic Band situation, but I have no vested interest, so I am not sure if the info I am taking in is totally up-to-date or correct.
Last I knew, the only guests who could customize Magic Bands for their trips are the ones doing the testing in August and September. Including AP holders with trips during that month? Not sure?
I don't think AP users who have trips later than September, at one of the test resorts, have been able to customize and order their bands.
Someone please correct me if this is wrong.
We are home from our wonderful stay at the Yacht Club. I cannot say enough good things about this resort. Our room was in great shape with a fantastic view of the lagoon & we could see Illuminations fireworks from our balcony. Mousekeeping was terrific this trip and kept us well stocked in supplies & had our room cleaned by the time we returned for our mid-day break. Also, much to my surprise, we had turn-down service even though we weren't staying club level.
We thoroughly enjoyed Stormalong Bay. We had no trouble finding chairs mid-afternoon. We did have to use our key cards for access though as the Magic Band scanners weren't operational. And the drinks from the bar are sooo good too
Transportation was great. We never had a long wait for either buses or boats. And the walk to Epcot was convenient as well.
We were glad to have the opportunity to test the Magic Bands. Personally, we liked them very much. There was a little glitch with one of our bands at the airport getting on the Magical Express & another one upon checking in, but both were resolved. We had selected our FP+ before we left home. It was so nice to "sleep in" on our Epcot day, knowing that we already had secured Soarin' fastpasses for 9:00-10:00 a.m. & could just walk over at our leisure.
But the thing that really sticks in my mind is the high level of service at the resort. Each and every CM we encountered was helpful and friendly while seeming genuinely interested in providing service. This was our third stay at the YC and now I can't imagine staying anywhere else.
Thank you so much for the very positive feedback!!! So glad you loved your stay at the Yacht Club. May I add a link to this post in the "BC/YC Trip Report Section" of this thread (Page 2)?
Quick question - we had some comments on our stay that we mailed a letter to Ms Flynn (at the address on page 1). It's been about a month since we mailed the letter with no response. Is this normal for the Beach Club?
In the past, we've at least had a note acknowledged by a hotel GM after sending it. I'm a little surprised we have haven't heard back at all.
Thanks
Mike
I was under the impression that Ms Flynn is fairly responsive, but I have not personally tried to contact her. I would say if you haven't heard anything in a couple of weeks, follow up with another letter
"I'm not sure if you received the letter I sent several weeks ago, but I wanted to make sure you received our feedback from our stay..."
I'm so excited! I called last night to upgrade our May 2014 reservations to BC-club level! Only because we're celebrating our 10 year anniversary and our son will be celebrating his kindergarten graduation.

this will be our first deluxe stay, we're usually at a mod. I fell in love with BC when I started researching WDW, I'm like a kid at Christmas LOL
I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list on Page 1
What a great way to celebrate some important milestones!
Last year the other family couldn't stand more than a couple of hours in the parks at a time. This family is on a Disney Death March! LOL Seriously, commando is just a joke. The other mom keeps telling me that this is all so "relaxing". We have been starting for rope drop, and going until 5, which is not what all would characterize as relaxing. LOL We are all having a ball.
Sounds great to me!!!
Yippee! We will be at the Yacht Club on Wednesday morning! Our first deluxe and first YC stay! My family is super excited, especially our 6.5 and 8 yr old daughters! Thanks for letting me lurk and gather lots of useful information, it's been fun! Quick question, we are staying standard view, hopefully with day bed, and we would like a quiet room, any suggestions? Thanks!
Have a great stay.
Our last stay was a couple of hallway intersections away from the elevators/CL lounge. We didn't hear any noise from our neighbors or hallways and didn't mind the walk at all.
At this point, your room is probably already assigned. When you check in, ask whether it has a daybed and where it is located. I would say that the quietest rooms would be ones at the end of hallways, far from elevators, but the downside is probably a longer walk to get every where. If you think the room is in a location that may be noisy, you can ask if there is something else available, but I'm pretty sure the YC and BC resorts are pretty booked for the next couple of weeks.
YCFan...so sorry for your loss. I know how difficult it is to lose a fur baby.
Feckless...so sorry to hear about your fall...that's terrible

Day 2 of our vacation and things haven't gone so well. Spent the entire morning with my oldest DD at Celebration hospital...she caught a BAD stomach bug and isn't doing much better unfortunately. I have had to get housekeeping to come up twice already to clean & disinfect our room and bathroom. Really hoping she's a little better tomorrow or I see another visit to the ER coming

.
Teena...so wonderful to see you, loved catching up and safe travels tomorrow.
Dee....will try to get some pics for you once things quiet down on my end.
Oh, no- so sorry to hear about your dear daughter! Not a great way to start a trip! I hope she recovers quickly and you are able to enjoy yourselves. Let us know!
Don't worry about any pictures for me- there are plenty of people who can help if needed. Take care of your family.
