Don't Post Here!!! New 2013 Beach & Yacht Club FAQ Started

This question might seem like a no-brainer, but according to the Disney website, YC rooms say they can come with 2 queens, 1 queen and daybed/couch or 1 king and daybed/couch. With 3 people (all adults) on our reservation, we'd definitely get a room with 2 queens....right? RIGHT?

Yes, your room would have two queens unless there is a mistake in the assignment. I think that a family of 3 who wanted a king bed and daybed was told that they could not be assigned to a room with a king bed, even if a child (over age 3) was the 3rd person in the room.

Hi Beach/Yacht-Clubbers! This is my first post on this thread...because I just made my first reservation at BC/YC! :cool1:

DH and snagged a garden view room at YC for Oct. 18-20 with the 30% RO discount. It's only 2 nights, but I figure it'll give us a good feel for whether or not we like the resort. (After that, we're off to AKL CL for 4 nights and then the Disney Dream CL for 3 nights - phew!) We also have dinner reservations at Yachtsmans steakhouse for Oct 19.

Just wondering if anyone had any advice about garden view rooms with good locations or views. Are all the garden view rooms either looking over the wedding gazebo or entrance? Are there quieter/noisier locations? Any "garden" view rooms with good views of the lake? We prefer upper floor and somewhere pretty quiet (I'm a late sleeper, even on vacation ;) ), though since it's only two nights I'm not going to stress about location toooo much! I love love love fancy pools, so I'm totally psyched about SAB.

Any other advice/tips/hints/thoughts for first-timers would be good, too. I've read all the FAQs on here and also the resort page on all ears, and I've been to beaches and cream before so I've seen the resort, so I feel like I know a little bit. But it's always good to get the inside scoop... ;)

Thanks so much!

With the 30% off discount I was able to upgrade our room at the yacht club from a garden room to a lagoon/pool view. I was fine with a garden view/standard view but with the discount it wound up being 600 dollars less with the view (go figure) so I had no choice but to switch

Same here. I'm really happy we were able to get the 30% at YC, I really didn't want to change resorts.

When is your trip? Would you like me to add you to the Be Our Guest list?

Did you peek at the YC Room View thread? That will give you a peek at a few samples of YC GV rooms. Most, but I don't think all, GV rooms will either look at the back (lakeside) courtyard or the wedding gazebo.

I started up two View Threads in the Resort Photo Subforum:

Beach Club Room Views

Yacht Club Room Views

The purpose of these threads is to give some samples of rooms in various view categories at the Yacht and Beach Clubs.

Some may have peek-a-boo views of the lagoon if you look are able to crane your neck in the proper position.

I'm not a huge fan of elevators are you able to get a lagoon/pool view on the 2nd floor so I can take the staircase up there to my room?

There is a very convenient staircase that exits very close to the walkway, close to the marina. The second floor is a great choice. We always used the stairs as much as possible, especially when we stayed at the Yacht Club, since the elevator is buried somewhere deep inside. ;)

It is near room 1065 and very convenient. :)

Thanks for the welcome!

Sure, we can go on the BOG list. :thumbsup2 We'll be at YC garden-view Oct 18-20, 2013.

Thanks for the links. I took a peek at the room views - they're all pretty nice. :goodvibes

Now I just have to wait another two and a half months to get down there. Arrghhh...

Ticket scanners were having issues at AK as well this morning. Would not work at all and then when they started working many of us still had cards that had to be processed manually. FP worked fine.

We are off to Les Chefs de France for dinner tonight. Never been so very much looking forward to it!

So is there any work going on at the BC/YC between August 19th-22nd?

I am serving as the "unofficial" travel planner for my relatives (staying in a std view room at the YC) and just want to give them a heads up if anything out of the normal is going on at either resort (i.e. refurbs, closures). I read recently that a room at the YC didn't have a fridge. Any clue if this is the case for all YC rooms and, if so, when the fridges may be restored?

This is their youngest daughter's first trip to WDW and their first stay at the YC, so just want to help ensure that they manage their expectations and have a great stay! Any tips you guys would give first time visitors? Suggestions for what std room view/location to request?

I love the BC/YC and am hoping they will love it just as much. :goodvibes

Hi! I have friends staying at YC in a few weeks, does anyone know the fridge situation?? I thought I would try and update them. Thanks!:)

We have reservations for a late Saturday evening dinner at Narcoossee's, the plan was to ride the bus to MK, then transfer to the Monorail, do the monorail tour of the MK resorts (to include grabbing a drink at the Poly) before stopping at GF for dinner. Then cabbing it back to BC.

Has anyone done something similar? I'm wondering how much time to allot for the bus and monorail? :scratchin

The fridge situation is an issue throughout the entire Walt Disney World resort. A safety issue was discovered with some of the mini-fridges in the guest rooms, so a decision was made to remove/disable all of the potentially dangerous appliances. Replacement of the huge number of faulty fridges is understandably going to take some time.

I am not aware of any other refurbishment work going on at the resort at this time.

Disney is in the process of replacing the dangerous appliances.

Teena will be checking about the status when she works on Sunday. I get the impression, purely from comments from recent guests, that quite a few but not all of the rooms at the resort have working fridges.

The status is literally changing daily.

Stay tuned here, or to one of the fridge threads on other forums, for more info

Thank you. Glad to hear that the fridge may be the only issue.

Catching up. It's a beautiful night here in the UK. Sat in the garden with the chimera burning away and a glass of wine wishing it was movie time on the beach.

It was suggested I repost this here...any suggestions??

I have a room booked at Beach Club for my family..four of us. My son is 16 and my daughter is 9 will be close to ten. The reason I picked BC was because of the two queen beds and day bed option (like we had at the Poly) . Called today to confirm a few things and was basically told "Not guaranteed (which I knew) if there's a family of five they'll pull it from you because you only have four."

What do I do? My only guarantee of three beds was bunks at WL or AKL. Hubby wants to wait it out and see what happens but he's against DS and DD sleeping in the same bed at their ages....just his thing. I'm nervous if we get there and all we get is two queens he's going to flip. What are my chances of it all working out...meaning do the majority -- or more than not -- have the two queens/day bed option for rooms? For the record, I checked switching to Poly too because I love it there and nothing was available and she said that wasn't a guarantee either. Gah!

I'm seeing a lot about people getting magic bands and FP+.

Is a trial for resort guests this month happening?
