When I first started using pinlocks some time ago I noticed that the sharp pointy end (SPE) would protrude past the locking collet causing a hazard to the people who wear thier pins topless
Well actually my little Niece said "hey these things are poking me" I told her to shutup and stop being such a sissy which was immediately followed by a hard kick to the shin and a look that would scare the meanest villain to death.
So, being an Engineer, I pulled out my digital caliper from my pocket protector and determined that a spacer/washer of some sort with a thickness of 2mm should do the job.
Then I went into Imagineer mode and searched for a Disney item that could do the job. I got one of the new Mickey icon rubber pinbacks, sliced off the pin cover to leave the Mickey icon which is exactly 2mm thick. I installed the Mickey shaped spacer, slid the pinlock up to it and presto chango you have a secured pin with no SPE sticking out of it. The rubber spacer also provides a nice soft material for the "pin set" (the sharp little barb that keeps the pin from rotating) to lock into. They look really cool with the Mickey icon against the chrome pinlock.
I installed the new device on my Nieces pins and she put on her lanyard and said "Now you are thinkin'". Being an Engineer/Imagineer can be a thankless job, but someone has to protect the little sissys of the world (HEY, shop kicking me).
