Don't get out the flames just yet

A whole range of reasons, I guess, but money could be one of them - Disneyland Paris is a very expensive holiday. People regularly (very very very regularly, snooooore!) point out that for what I spend on my trips to Paris I could have a 3 week holiday in Florida. (OT - but one of my pet hates is being told "for that money you could go to the proper Disney" to which I always reply "oh you mean in California?")

Anyway, it all comes down to personal choice - I will always chose my expensive trips to Paris, but I am in the minority.

I also don't do "cheap seats".:sad2:

For us there is a long list. The shopping, the sunshine, the food, the people, it goes on and on. We have been to both and Florida is a clear winner. The only draw back with Florida is the flight and if you can offered to travel PE or above (we can't) even that wouldn't be too much of a hardship.

we went to dlp twice never again
the atmosphere is rubbish, it doesnt feel disney
its expensive due to the euro rates
and its in france not somewhere with great weather

For me Florida offers so much more: Epcot, Animal Kingdom, DCL, all the beautiful resorts, Universal/IOA, Seaworld, Discovery Cove, Busch Gardens, Water parks....not forgetting the shopping, food, weather, the friendly service/people etc.

When I go to WDW it is for 2 or 3 weeks whereas DLRP is a long weekend, 3/4 nights.

I've been to DLRP once for 4 nights and although it was pretty it doesn't give me that fuzzy Disney "your home" vibe that I get at WDW. :cloud9:

The main reason I got to WDW is for

The Weather, the weather, the weather :)

I could not agree more, if i had the money for a trip to DLRP i would continue saving till i had enough for WDW :rotfl2:

You mean you love the tropical depressions then Mandy. ;) When it rains it RAINS!

LOL, yes Tony, give me Tropical Storm Fay (or Kay or whatever her name was) and the record chill factors of this New Year anytime :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Went to DLP in October and never again, the kids even thought it was rubbish. I did write to them to share our experience and they offered me a free stay which I declined. They did give me $1000 worth of tickets for WDW though, Personally we thought it was dirty and lacked the Disney magic

Ah this old chestnut again :lmao:

personally I love both. Paris was our first holiday together so will always hold a special place in our hearts. But it's just so ex*****ve now especially with the euro as it is. But it's close which means we can get more of a chance to go with me being restricted to school holidays.

But then we love orlando too. Even got married there. But it's more than wdw for us. It's the whole place. The other parks, the weather, the shopping, the people.

:goodvibes

Did you get your s & i around the wrong way luke. :lmao:

I have to back up what people have said here:

-the weather
- the cost, despite the distance Disney World works out a MUCH better deal
-the variety of things to do
-4 parks versus 2, and the 2 in common, you cant even compare them, florida is superior by miles
- customer service, until the CMs in Paris understand what to work for disney means then i dont want to know
-the hotels, on my budget i normally have to go value and I think the value hotels at paris have a lot to answer for, i swore i would never stay in one again. Yet i love Pop Century. It is a league above Santa Fe IMHO
-the language and translation. I dont want to hear a ride narrated 1 line english, 1 line french, i dont want to have to call my beloved characters by different names :Tigru is not Tigger, Tic and Tac are not Chip and dale, winnie le cent is not winnie the pooh!!

In conclusion, after 5 trips to paris i have no inclination to go back, it spoils my disney experience and leaves me feeling dissapointed, broke, cold, annoyed. They have a lot of work to do before i will transfer my disney world money closer to home:headache:

Persoanlly I love both resorts. For me WDW is a holiday, a place to go to for 2 weeks to totally relax, Disneyland Paris is a short 4 day break. As others have said money could also be a factor. I priced up 4 nights standard view at the hotel New York for the summer, for the same price I could have had 8 nights at the Animal Kingdom Lodge concierge level. I agree with some that think DLRP is beautiful, I much prefer the Disneyland park at DLRP over the Magic Kingdom. Actually after being used to DLRP the MK is my least favourite WDW park.

I have been to DLP twice and I loved it. The reason that I am saving for a WDW holiday is because I have always wanted to go there. I have also been to Disneyland California. The weather and the size of WDW are deciding factors too, although if DLP was less expensive, I would go again in a heartbeat.:)

Having not been to DLRP I can't comment directly on the experience of it!

However the cost of a few days at DLRP to 2 weeks at WDW in Florida [plus the weather - yes even July's afternoon downpours] makes Florida all the more inticing to me:thumbsup2

My DS and my best friend have done both and they say Florida wins hands down, even with the long flight:cool1:

It's a good job we're all made different :rolleyes1

I love DLP & WDW, I love going to both. WDW is more of a holiday with amazing resorts, restaurants and more parks. I love DLP because it is beautiful and perfect to go to for a few days, it still feels like Disney to me and I prefer DLP to the MK at WDW. It is not really done to cost to me, I go to both because I love both.

Agree with many of the reasons on here. It just does not have the same Disney feel for me as the French are not as fun loving as the Americans. We were there just before New Year and it was freezing, had no atmosphere and was sooo expensive.

Disney should have gone to Spain, which is more relaxed and warmer. The people are not as arrogant as the French can be - not all French, but some are just not happy people.
