Muster Station I on the Wish

Whatever you decide to do....PLEASE do not be late. It has gotten ridiculous how long the drill takes now because of people coming late. Our last one was 35 minutes. The one prior to that was longer because we missed the start of the sail away show. That one mad me so angry...people were talking and having a grand old time, being so loud that the crew stopped the instructions to tell everyone to be quiet. Then they started from the beginning again.

This is why muster needs to go back to online. Happens every cruise. People can’t show up on time or be quiet when they finally get there.

My DD is a crew member and we’ve had that conversation a few times. In person muster is directly due to the number of children on board. While I think there is always room for improvement, she says it’s unlikely to change. I don’t mind in person but I very much dislike the crowd after and the rush to get to the pool deck. It might be better if it were a little earlier or if they did two time slots.

LOL…don’t tell my DD but I think we are going to skip sail away next month. I just want to sit with a cocktail and watch the land slip away.

Mine is in the balcony. So is that good or not?
You get to sit in a comfortable chair with a backrest. How could that not be good? :confused3

We are usually standing on Deck 4 with everyone crammed in close on both sides of us, with the setting sun in our eyes while they keep calling the same names of people who are absent. Bueller, Bueller, Bueller....

Really, it's a small part of the cruise. Don't overthink it. :goodvibes

I have been skipping the sail away since our 5th Disney cruise. I usually use that time to order Mickey’s bars to the room while getting all our bags unpacked. We have stayed on deck 2 a few times and it shines during muster drill as we go one floor down while everyone else is piling up waiting to go up the stairs.

We stayed on deck 2 many times when our kids were young. Back then on the Magic, with not so many balconies, it was $1000 for us to upgrade to a balcony. The window was good and I slept better knowing they couldn't open a balcony door while we were sleeping.

Yes it was super convenient after muster drill and also when returning from port it was an easy flight of steps up while everyone else waiting for the elevator.

We've skipped the sailaway since around our 4th Disney cruise. I too would rather get unpacked and organized, especially if our luggage is on the late side. I just don't feel settled until I unpack.

I honestly expect disaster the first time online muster drills are out to the test during an emergency on the lines that kept them. No one takes them seriously or fully processes the information in the video, vs an in person one where you need to go to where you'd go IRL and you get that muscle memory in you in case things go wrong.

Perhaps it is because one of my favorite genres of YouTube video is ship disasters but I'd happily spend an hour in an irl muster drill rather than deal with being the only one who knows where my life boat station is if something were to happen

When cruising first restarted after covid, our musters were all through the app. We just had to open our camera on the big sign that had an "M" or whatever. Honestly, I couldn't recall what letter ours as quickly (without looking at my key) as I could when we went in person.
Children are visual learners. Explaining to them will never sink in (no pun intended) like it does when you show them. The thought of 1000+ kids going directly to a muster station from the kids club or wherever, with the intention of meeting their parents there would be chaos but moreso if they've never actually been there.

it was a nice surprise to get inside muster drill this time!

now I feel smrt for booking on
deck 2 for upcoming cruise
It's very peaceful. Not a lot of traffic.
Our kids are grown and no longer cruise with us so we do spend more time on our balcony but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it for anyone wanting a window.
Sure you hear & feel the thrusters during docking but I've learned you hear & feel it all over the ship.

Brilliant idea and a lovely way to start a cruise!

Any advice for this location? Is it bestter to sit in the back of the theater?
As others already mentioned, you are directed where to sit by crew members once inside the theater. We disembarked from the Dream on Friday; our muster station was also in the theater balcony. We arrived a few minutes early, and they were seating back to front. We were already about 2/3 down by the time we arrived, and late arrivals were standing.

Luckily, everyone showed up. Those who were standing were let out first, and then the crew directed exiting starting with back rows.

I completely agree. I tried to say this to someone in a FB group and I was quickly and rudely told how wrong I was.

I will also jump on the deck 2 love. Have done it twice and thought it was great. The first time I was apprehensive but someone gave me a great list of perks. On the Magic we were on the dividing line of mid/aft. We did I feel a bit of rumbling when they were docking but it was never a bother. LOL…on debark morning it woke me up. We were pulling into PC at 3:15am. DD said that was unusual early.
