Don't eat that! Let me take a picture first! 7 nights on the basic DDP. Complete 5/5

I almost forgot my bonus picture! They were still in the testing phase of the CHARACTERS IN FLIGHT balloon.

Isn't is beautiful?

LEANING PALMS AT TYPHOON LAGOON

Sadly, I don't have any pictures. We never take our camera with us to the waterparks.

On a side note, we usually get TONS of photopass pictures at the waterparks. This time we got a grand total of ZERO! The photopass people were MIA on this trip. :confused3 I'm really glad we didn't do a pre-paid photopass this time.

Back to the food....
After an eventful morning where both of our children ended up BLEEDING in the wave pool. (OK, another side note... a rant actually! That pool is very dangerous! The bottom is rough concrete. Both of my boys ended up being dragged across it by a huge wave, and both of them came up bleeding enough that we had to go to first aid.)

Well, first aid is located right beside Leaning Palms. It was early, but the kids couldn't swim again until they stopped bleeding, so we decided to have an early lunch.

Both boys had Pepperoni Pizza, DH had a cheeseburger, and I had a Chili Dog. The meal started with the lovely family behind us talking about how the chili looked like their son's dirty diaper. :scared: Good thing I have a strong stomach. :sad2:

Anyway, the hot dog was fine. Just a typical hot dog on a dry semi-wheat bun loaded down with chili (with beans) that tasted fresh from a can and about 20 french fries. There was a very small line of them beside the hot dog. I was still hungry when I finished.

DH said the cheeseburger was OK, so that may be the way to go here. He also got a much larger serving of fries.

The pizza was typical Disney pizza - which we don't really like. The crust is very thick, all the toppings tend to gather in the middle, and the sauce is sweet. :scared: On the ones we had that day, the edges were a very dark brown - almost black. Again...:scared:

Dessert was 2 chocolate chip cookies, a Mickey bar, and an Itzakadoozie Ice Pop. I don't see cookies on the allears menu, so I'm not sure if they are offered all the time or not. But, I couldn't understand why they got them to begin with????? Why would you pass up a Mickey bar at the water park?

Dessert was by far the highlight of this sad meal. I would suggest planning your trip so you don't end up eating while visiting the waterparks, but if you have to I guess this is better than nothing.

Last year I got the chicken wrap and it was actually pretty good. I'm planning to stick with that from now on!

thank you for the updates. The fried doh bar looks unreal. Somehow I pictured ahard candy bar inside. I love how melty it looks.

I love the Mary Poppins balloon!!

We're going to a baseball game this Saturday along with a stop at the Basketball Museum.

Go Heels!! :cheer2:

Go Disney!!

Wow, great TR! I'm really enjoying it and wishing I was there for all the yummy food!

We were very sad to leave the Nick. :sad1:

But we had better things waiting for us at the POFQ.

And one of these cute little guys arrived each day.

We started our Disney dining with 4 of these:

IMG_0588.jpg

We filled them at least 2 times a day with soda, iced tea, coffee, or half and half (which the boys said tasted like whole milk). :thumbsup2

They were not included on the basic dining plan, so they cost us about $55 OOP. They were definitely worth it. 4 bottled drinks (water, soda, etc.) cost $10, so I was happy we had the mugs.

Can you re fill these at the parks too? What's the cost for a refill?

I am loving this report. I'm only half way through. But I had to wipe the drool from my mouth when I saw that angus burger. Wow! We have ADR's here and I am so getting that:cool1:

Great food report!!! The chicken and chips and the fish and chips actually made me drool! Darn this foolish diet when pictures do that to me!!! LOL I don't know if the guilt would stop me from having the fried candy bar but I sure would love a bite or two.....................

You are right, that wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon is treacherous. My 5 year old GD cut her foot when knocked over by a wave and wouldn't go near that pool again. It almost ruined her day. After a while the look of the slides did win her over! :thumbsup2

They are even better than they look. :cloud9:

I love the Mary Poppins balloon!!
Isn't it pretty! Too bad I'm afraid of heights. :guilty:

Wow, great TR! I'm really enjoying it and wishing I was there for all the yummy food!
Thanks! :)

Unfortunately, you can only refill them at your resort, but refills are free. :goodvibes

It's the best entree there. :thumbsup2

Our first and last dining adventures at Typhoon Lagoon were at....

Joffreys Donuts

We picked up a dozen for breakfast when we got to the park. They were freshly made, super hot, moist and yummy! But, they are not that big. We only got 3 each, so we were ready for more after our not so stellar lunch. On the way out we picked up another dozen. Both times we got white chocolate dipping sauce. One cup was enough for all 12 donuts. These are not covered on the DDP, but they are well worth the OOP charge. :thumbsup2

A dozen was $7.00. The white chocolate sauce was $1.25. For some reason they don't charge tax?????:confused3

If you've never had these, give them a try. They are really good. :goodvibes

For dinner we made our way over to Epcot to

TEPPAN EDO

We were about 15 minutes late for our reservation, but they didn't say anything. We only waited a few minutes before we were called for our table. We were seated with two other very nice couples. We had a great time talking to them during the meal. My boys love meeting new people, so this is one of their favorites. :goodvibes

I snapped a few pic's of the menu...

As you can see, there is no steak on the kids menu. Last year DS9 ordered the shrimp and I traded my steak with him. Well, this year I wanted steak myself. He was really worried that he wouldn't be able to get one on the DDP, but we soon found out that we could up grade for a small charge (not covered by the DDP). It was $3.45 plus tax ($3.68).

So we all placed our orders and waited for the show. :goodvibes

TEPPAN EDO (continued)

DS7 ordered the Child's Ebi (shrimp), DS9 the Child's Steak ($3.68 extra charge), and DH and I both has the Asakusa (Combo. of sirloin steak and large shrimp). All meals were served with vegetables, noodles and rice.

Our drinks were 2 milks for the boys, iced tea for DH, and iced green tea for me. The iced green tea was so refreshing! It was my favorite (non-booze) drink of the trip! I think I drank 3 glasses full during the meal. The green tea flavor wasn't too strong.

IMG_0314.jpg

The manager came out to speak with us about DS9's cashew allergy. He was really nice! We had fun talking basketball with him. :goodvibes They don't use any cashews, so DS had no worries.

Our chef was really nice. She wasn't the best I've ever seen, but she did a great job. She even gave us a little Disney surprise. See if you can pick it out....

Here is one serving of rice, noodles and vegetables:

A single portion of shrimp (the kids got the same amount as adults):

And a single portion of steak (medium rare):

IMG_0326.jpg

The food was fantastic. The steak was tender and cooked to perfection. I always worry when I order sirloin, but these were really good cuts of meat.

The dipping sauces were also very good. The top one was a mustard sauce, followed by a mayo. based sauce for shrimp, and a ginger sauce on the bottom.

The portions were noticably smaller than last year. We had no problem cleaning our plates, and that NEVER happens at our local Japanese Steakhouse. Since we were not planning to take any leftovers with us, we were very happy with the portion size.

Now for the biggest let-down of the night.

All you kids get ready for this yummy:rolleyes: dessert.....

IMG_0331.jpg

:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
Can you believe THAT is the only thing kids can order?!?!?!?!?!?!?

DS9 just wanted a dish of vanilla ice cream, but it wasn't allowed. Adults are allowed to get it, so several at our table had some.

We were still celebrating DS7's birthday, so he got cake. :guilty:

DS9 tasted the "fruit", but didn't like it. My kids really only like fresh fruit.

So DS9 pretented not to want any cake, and watched us eat chocolate ginger cake. (I found out after my cake was gone that he liked it, or I would have given him mine.)

IMG_0330.jpg

The cake was really good. It was very moist and tasted fresh. The ginger taste was faint, but enough to add a nice flavor. There was a creamy chocolate layer topped off with a dark chocolate layer. So yummy!

Total cost for this meal would have been $115.13 if we had not been using the DDP.

This is one of our favorites. We will definitely return! Next year DS will be a Disney Adult (10), so we wont have to worry about getting another fruit cup. :scared: We'll just make sure to celebrate DS7's birthday there again. :thumbsup2 (They didn't charge extra for his birthday cake.)

Bonus picture:

As we walked around World Showcase, I snapped a picture of the menu board for Liberty Inn in America.

Hang the diet when at Disney! You've GOT to try a Doh-Bar!!!! Don't worry, you'll walk it off! :rotfl:

And, we will stay FAR away from that stupid pool from now on! :scared:
