I went dress shopping at David's Bridal yesterday! We tried on 11 "different" dresses. All it accomplished was that we figured out the elements that looked best on me. The one dress we all liked was out of my budget, so that makes it a "no". Can't wait to check out rental stores to see what they have.

Yuki, since you're willing to look at rentals, I'm guessing that "nobody's ever worn it before" is not a deal-breaker for you... so don't forget Ebay and the thrifts, ok? I wanted a wedding gown to wear for our 10th anniversary party (which never happened...) We had the idea of doing a masked ball, and, of course, my costume would be "the bride." Looking through all those magazines, I fell in love with a Vera Wang dress, and was able to find the exact one I wanted in several sizes for only a couple hundred dollars over the course of a few months on Ebay.

In the end, we never had the party and I never bought the dress. But I still have the party plans I worked up tucked away somewhere... though I'm reaching the point in my life now that I'd much rather have hot tea on my couch wearing cozy sweatpants than get dressed up and party... heck... I was ALWAYS at that point, I'm just more honest about it now! :)

No buys: 2/4 (these are 24-hr periods of zero spending... because I might blow it one morning, then do great the rest of the day, then the next day do great until evening... so I've modified my parameters)

Fast food: 187,653/5 Yeah, I'm not doing great at that one. But I haven't bought fast food since Monday afternoon, so that's about 39 hours now, which was DD9's mandatory after-therapy snack. Something about that experience makes her crave carbs and me crave salt, every time.

Holiday planning: Still working on it, hard to reconcile what I *want* to give with what I can *afford* to give...

Linking DRV to finance software: done and tracking!

LAST credit card: $3805/$6000 still planning to pay off by 31 Dec

Kitchen planning: chugging along, kitchen designer has sent design to contractor to "firm up" the estimates, flooring estimates still ranging wildly until we pin down what we want.

Kitchen loan:processing, hoping to have everything signed, sealed, and money delivered by 31 Oct... also hoping for a month-end-closing incentive from Home Depot...

Cruise fund: $35/???? 10-year-old bank teller had to comment on my Staples rebate checks when I deposited them.

DVR Dollars: won't post for a few more days... those are for the cruise.

MCR: 2512-holding out for giftcard promo they usually have in November

SYWR: $55-saving for two "dreamlites" for DDs for Christmas

Mypoints: 9600... will cash in as soon as they finish "posting" around 31 Oct

All three of my birdies (backyard hens) are laying now, and one day they even all laid the same day... two lay green eggs, one lays rosy brown, frequently speckled... very pretty, but they taste "normal." The weather has been chilly, so we pulled all the green tomatoes and put them in the garden window over the sink to ripen, along with a pot of dirt and some basil seeds (hopefully they'll grow...)

I've really been surprising myself lately when I go into shops looking for one thing, and don't leave with anything extra. Yesterday, I spent a total of $5.67, which has to be some sort of record for a non-nobuy day... for that amount, I got toothpaste (free with coupon), new noseguards for my glasses ($1.88 for the parts, they put them on for free), a gallon of milk, and three small bags of chips for after-school snack.

Today I'm out $60+ for gas already. Ugh.

Oooh, I must check out EBay then!! The one Vera Wang I tried on was a size too small and made me look like a sad marshmallow, haha. The only thing about buying online is I never know how I'll look in it. I guess I should find a dress in stores I love and then look for it on ebay?

That's such a cool idea for a party! Well, at least you still have the plans.

Ok, that was a pretty spendy weekend. I took my Junior out to dinner and the bill was a bit higher than I would've liked. Need to find cheaper things to do with her...

Also went to Canada's Wonderland to try out their newest rollercoaster. SOOO worth the wait. It was awesome!!!

Dang, I don't have any budget left for the today and tomorrow but I need to go buy my costume today or tomorrow! Looks like the end of this month is going as great. Halloween is expensive this year...
