Ok, this is my first attempt at a pre trip or trip report for that matter. So don't hold anything against me. As for the title of my pre trip, I'll get to that soon enough. Some of you may already know!

The reason I've decided to do the pre trip other than lack of nothing else to do is... I've made a few friends here over on the planning boards, I'm addicted to these boards, and I just thought it'd be fun.

The Cast:

Me: I'm an overplanner and semi perfectionist that is trying to make the best trip possible for a bunch of ingreats.:goodvibes They're really not ingreats but they don't appreciatemy efforts.;) I have many flaws in my trip planning: I can be indecisive at times, I call CRO entirely too much (we'll cover that), and I put alot of stress on the smilies to get my point across. :goodvibes

I do have a goal that I would like to conquer on this trip and that is to conquer my fear of one of the rides at WDW. And I'll fill you in on that as well.

DH: Well what can I say about my fabulous DH? He really is great and for the most part has no opinion on the vacation and is easy to please, or so he says. He always develops an opinion at the most inoppurtune times. He enjoys WDW but can only take it in intervals of every other year.:sad2:

As far as I know DH has no missions he needs to accomplish on this trip, other than bugging the fire out of me about Splash Mtn.

DD 11: She'll be 11 in June. She has been trying to suck all of the money out of us so that she can stay at GF or BWI. I almost took the bait on BWI when DH gave in but I had buyer's remorse and cancelled. DD is a great kid and she is a really big help around the house. She looks just like DH but acts alot like me.

Her mission on this trip: to eat like an adult. She's so excited that she gets to order off of the adult menu. She says she's going to order the MOST expensive thing on the menu. ;)

DD 6: She's somewhat of a spitfire and a drama queen. She looks just like me but I have NO idea where she gets this attitude from. DH has a few ideas on that one but let's not go there!

Her mission on this trip: will be to pout at least once a day for the entire legnth of our stay. There is no charge for this, her talents are amazing. She can do this on command or w/ out warning. DH normally takes the bait, sucker. I get ticked.:headache:

We will be arriving on September 2 and leaving on the 8th. We have free dining and will be staying at AKL. I'll go over all the resort anxiety and drama later, as I don't want to tarnish my image just yet. :goodvibes

I really hope that you all enjoy my pre trip and feel free to give any advice or opinions. Next I'll go over the Splash Mtn ordeal.

Cya soon!

Ohhh I am excited that you are doing a Pre-Trippie!!! They are so much fun and now you are going to be addicted to this part of the Dis also.

It is great that you guys are back at AKL!!! Can't wait to hear all about the plans and the Splash Mtn. ordeal.

Thanks. I've been lurking over here for a while. I just love trip reports! I'm addicted to yours already.

:thumbsup2 Good idea with the pre-trip report. I too don't have anymore planning to do. I am set on all of my dinners, however, it is the one breakfast that I have booked that I am thinking of changing.

I have some ideas for you to do. Did you do your touring plans yet? I find them really helpful and it really cuts down on lines at the parks. Everyone else just goes in with no mission. I have my list, and it has always worked for me. Look into some of the unofficial sites/books for info.

I agree, I think most families are ingreats as far as all of our hard work. If they went down without us and our planning they would not have as much as a relaxed time. :coffee:

You would be so ashamed of me as I've done little to no touring plans. As a matter of fact DH had a stipulation in the agreement to go to WDW. And that was to wing it. He wants to sleep in every morning and just get up and go wherever whenever.

I must admit that is actually appealling to me. However, please point me in the right direction. If your plans have worked I'll gladly act as thougth I'm winging it. ;)

Winging it is okay, but you usually can't get as much done in a day as far as attractions, etc. I have seen touring plans that are for the afternoons too. All it is basically is the order in which you go on the rides. The books say that it is only about 1 out of 300 people that use a touring plan. Everyone else wings it.

I like to get up early during that time of the year, because it is too hot after 11 a.m. I like to do my touring plan for the a.m., have an early lunch at the parks and go back for a swim, shower and go back for dinner and EMH. DH gets up early for work and liked it last year as it worked out for us.

That sounds like a great plan, nonsmom:thumbsup2

Well I decided since I have nothing else to do right now. I'll go ahead and clue you into the title of the thread.

Don't answer the phone, it's her AGAIN!! That's what goes on when CRO sees my number on their caller ID. I've changed resort so many times that I don't even know how many times. So far we've been booked at the following and some of these have been booked multiple times: AKL, ASMu, POFQ, Poly, WL, BWI, CBR. Again that's the cleaned up version as I've booked several of the choices on numerous times. My ADRs have been changed to keep up w/ the changes and the times that I've added hoppers and cancelled them. :sad2:

Here's the "final" draft of the ADRs:

9/2 Crystal Palace for dinner
9/3 O'hana for dinner
9/4 Whispering Canyon for breakfast (to check out WL)
9/4 Chef Mickey's for dinner
9/5 Boma for breakfast
9/6 LeCellier for lunch (that's all I could get after I cancelled dinner:sad2: )
9/7 Coral Reef for dinner

The only change I hope to make at this point is to perhaps talk DH into another night. But now just isn't the time for that. It'll take some preparing and brown nosing on my part. I would just go ahead and book it but I've been a big headache in the planning so I'll play nice guy, unless i don't get my way.

Yay Yay Yay. I Love pre-trip reports. It's something I've thought about but now I don't have to....I can just read yours :) . Come on....tell us more.

You should do one too! That'd be great! I must say that stepdisney and disneybride have talked me back to my senses on numerous occasions! nonsmom has also been great in helping me out.

Well DH just called from work and asked if I was on the computer. I'm such a loser.

Well I'll go ahead and enlighten yall on the Splash Mtn saga. I used to love log rides like this but had a bad experience and felt like I almost fell out of one at Opryland:scared1: I haven't been on one since.

DH and DDs love Splash Mtn and have bugged me about riding it and I never did in 2004. No way!

So in 2005 we had dinner at O'hana. After a Lapu Lapu I had magically mustered up enough courage to ride Splash Mtn. It was on! I wasn't scared and was ready to take the ride on, woman to Mtn. So as we go through the lines I'm doing good. We go to board and the Mtn begins to get the best of me. I've still got enough Lapu Lapu power so I board. Reluctantly but I DO board.

I'm on the ride while DD 4 at the time is in front of us w/ DH and holding her hands up. Being a little show off. While DD 9 was being Chatty Kathy. Ok, enough w/ the talking I've had it! I tell them to quit talking to me at this point I'm feeling trapped and highly agitated. So they laugh. Go ahead and laugh all you want but DON'T TALK TO ME!

So as we begin going up the lift and I see the light at the end of the tunnel. I begin to panic and look for an escape route. I thought about bailing but knew that would pose as a greater threat. At the point when we got to the top and begin our bottomless plunge to what I thought was the end of my life. The Lapu Lapu left me all together, just flat out abandoned me when I needed it the most.

But I lived to tell the tale and my mission is to conquer the fear of Splash Mtn. I hate free falls:scared1: But I, at this time and it's subject to change, intend on riding Splash Mtn until I learn to like it.

ktink, For those who have not followed all of your posts, the wording multiple times does not do justice to this statement. :rotfl2:

:surfweb: I'm already hooked on your pre-trip report. popcorn:: More please! :dance3:

:lmao: I have to agree w/ you on that one!:lmao:

I also have to say that carol/houston and prejean princess have really helped me out. It's been a ROCKY road planning for this trip.:goodvibes Well DH is on the way home so I'll get off of the computer awhile.

Hope to see yall soon!

Wow I didn't know that you changed your resort that many times! I kept going back and forth between WL and AKL and then wanted to do BWI and Poly also but AKL won in the long run. I just love it there and know what to expect.

Your ADR's look great and Boma has a very good breakfast.

I hope you can conquer your fear of Splash Mtn...it is a great ride and really cute on the inside.

I got my popcorn:: and can't wait to read more plans!!!

ktink, we winged it last year and it was great. We are planning on winging it again this year (somewhat). Like you said, I have to be careful because DH is not full of Disney magic :confused3. He does not like me to over plan, but if I don't know where we are going and how to get there then it's all my fault, and why didn't I find out things before. So I just sit at my little computer and look/read Dis stuff; and DH sits in his recliner with his laptop and looks at motorcycle stuff. We have actually come to a good understanding: he is as excited about motorcycles as I am about Disney. So now, at least, as long as I act interested in motocycles, he actually talks to me about Disney without getting irritated. Good luck with the pre-trip report, I'll be lurking.

Wow! We nearly miss eachother a couple of times!!! We will be checking into the WL on the 4th and going to dinner there that night! We almost stayed at the AKL but decided on the WL for a couple of reasons. Maybe we'll bump into eachother! Great TR so far!

Oh and Splash Mtn is my favorite ride!

:surfweb: I love this ktink!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is THE perfect way to keep busy without making any changes:goodvibes Ktink...you have saved us:rotfl:

I have never one done before either, but yours is great already!!!! Although I kinda know your story:rolleyes1 already:banana:

DH and DDBaby are napping, and DS13 and DD1o are running around the campground, so here I am to see what my DisFriends are up to:)

Did you guys know abt the site tagrel.com....awesome photo tours!!! oops...maybe not a good idea:lmao:
So are we all into double digits? THanks I didnt even know...duh:upsidedow
So...dont want to hijack YOUR pre trip report, Love it :)

I am waiting to hear how you plan to take a few minutes and meet your 2 co conspirators in resort changing:rotfl2:

However, stepdisney seems to be hearing the lull of palm trees and Maholos and Aholas!!!:surfweb: :rolleyes1 :lmao:

Talk to you guys later....Just so you know...I really appreciate conversing with you, you two have made this so much fun for me!!!!!! Really!:dance3:

Hey ktink, don't change your ressies from AKL now because you might not get it back. It seems there are no reservations being taken at all. I have checked dates with and without free dining, starting next week through October (and no I did not check every week, just random dates :rotfl: ). I called to check availability for my in-laws (I hope they will change from ASMu to AKL) and CRO also said there was no availability. But they suggested that the resort might be sold out, and I said yeah right, from now until October?Just and FYI, in case you were thinking of switching :rotfl2: one (or maybe 2) more times. Keep us posted.

Sadly, it's true. But I really dont' want to go down that path again.

Nicole, maybe we'll run into each other.

disneybride, I wasn't aware of the website, I don't know that I need to go there just yet. lol

This trip report is a group effort and wouldn't be complete w/ out everyone! And what could I possibly say about my coconspirators?:rolleyes1 We've had many laughs already.

Several of you have made the planning for this trip a hoot.

prejean princess, Wow! I WILL NOT change from AKL, not gonna do it, wouldn't be prudent. I can't believe it is so booked. I really hope that the resort won't be packed. Maybe they're taking fewer ressies w/ the construction going on. I know, I highly doubt that's the case. But it gives me every reason in the world to NOT waiver.

Personally, I think they have stopped taking ressies, I have a thread on the resort board, and several people have posted that they can't get ressies through December. There is no way that the hotel can go from one day having all room catagories available to being completely booked. And for that matter booked for the rest of the year. I just find that hard to believe. I think, they have stopped taking ressies because of the construction and are trying to contain all guests to the side of the hotel with the least amount of noise.:confused3 Who knows????

ktink, I love love love your TR !!! Looks like you love to play the Crazy Resort Changing Game, too :)
:rotfl:
