Donald's Defiant Dashers (AKA Triple D's/Duckies/The Ducks) Dashing into 2010

Hi Duckies, got back from NYC, was there for the duathlon in Central Park this morning. Great weather, it was run 2 miles, bike two laps of the CP road for 12, and then run another 2. I dropped a few minutes off last year's time, finished in 1:11:52, 4th in my age group. I think that may be the last race I will do until the W&D, which is pretty close now!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend, I am going to head for the beach!

Augie

Hey Ducks!

Happy Labor Day...almost too late...to all! They also call today "Labor Day" in Canada, but their history in establishing is a bit different than ours in the US, from what I heard on the radio today. Anyhoo...

Dan - How'd the Virginia Beach R&R Half go this weekend? If you finished, all is good!

SamSam - Great job on the 9-plus miles! :yay:

Augie- What a cool race! I visited NYC for the first time last Thanksgiving and felt so privileged to run in Central Park twice. Must be waaay cool to race there.

Carissa - You're still my hero, lady. I know you can do whatever you set your sights on! Keep it up. You really are my inspiration!

I stretched myself and ran 12 miles on Saturday morning in just over 2 hours. I felt like crap the rest of the day and most of Sunday. Felt a little better today. I just wanted to know that I could really and truly finish that upcoming half in WDW. I'm pretty sure I can do it now. The only unknown now for me is the heat and humidity. We're into serious fall up here now. The Canadian Geese are all flying south and the morning runs are all with a running jacket because of the crisp winds.

Hope everyone has a GREAT (short) week. We're all still planning on getting together in Tent D prior to the half, right? Anyone determine a time yet?

Way to go! You CAN do it!
I will be very happy to have 12 miles behind me.
I think I missed a few days when the subject of Tent D was being discussed, sounds like fun. :goodvibes

I did a 10 miler today! I feel terrible, I almost threw up on the way,

I am off to bed early and hope I do not hurt to bad tomorrow

I did realize I have not been taking my vitamins and that is probably why I had such a hard time out there.;)

Hi Everyone! :)

Saturday was the 10K (My longest race ever!) that I participated in. It's a race in honor of a local runner and it's held during The National Crab Derby in my town.

I finished in 78 minutes and 5 seconds! I was pretty pleased with that pace because I've never done a training run more than 5 miles and I did alright! :)

I was really sore in my shoulder and gained a beautiful sore spot on my upper arm from my arm. Has this happened to anyone else?

Good Luck to everyone with their upcoming races! I'll be posting my races in the next couple of days :)

Don't let it discourage you. Probably just an off day; rest up, eat right and go out again. Maybe you are pushing too hard? Was it hot or muggy?, that can really affect you in a negative way.
I know I've had my share of 'stonker' runs, usually I'm okay in a couple of days. Hang in there.

Are you talking about muscle soreness or soreness from rubbing? After I did the Half last January I had two small sore spots, one under each arm, from the rubbing motion of two hours of running. I guess that is why they have Body Glide! Never had that problem in a 5K, but this is over four times the length. I used vaseline, just not in those spots, but I now know other places to put it.

I was talking about a raw spot from my ipod rubbing against my arm =]

Body Glide would take care of the rubbing, but not sure how the iPod would handle it.......:)

Megan - Great job on the 10K!

Karen - I know what you mean on that 10-miler. I did 10 miles last weekend and felt fine. Then I did 12 miles this weekend, and by 8 miles, I felt like crap. I couldn't even drink water for the last 3 miles because I felt so sick. But I gutted it out. I just think it's "that day" kinda thing. Run it next weekend and you'll probably be fine. :confused3

Dan - How'd that half go for you this weekend?

Keep on runnin', Ducks!

Hello All,

The race this weekend went great. My first Rock-N-Roll series race and it was awesome. I ran with a pace group for the first 12.5 miles and loved it so much that I will try to run with one for each of my future races. I had a goal to run a 1:52 and I made it with a 1:51:19. As you can guess I was pretty darn happy with that time. The course was pretty flat except an over pass at mile 4 (I think and then the same overpass at mile 11.

The course was pretty crowded through mile 4 (about 15,000 runners) and I had to do a lot of zig zagging.

Dan - Awesome time on your half last weekend! Woo hoo! So you'll be standing at the W&D Half finish line, high fiving all the Ducks as we come across behind you? jk..

Megan - Fantabulous new on the CP acceptance! I hope it's all you've dream of.

I ran 10 miles this morning. In tights and a running jacket, at about 45 degrees and overcast skies. It went very well, but I'm REALLY getting worried about the Florida heat and humidity and how it's gonna affect my running. Gulp. Y'all have been running in heat and humidity for months. Me? Not so much at all. I think I'm gonna get creamed...:scared1:

Thanks! Me too!

I was on :cloud9: for the rest of the night last night and I FINNALY went to sleep at like 2:30ish with one small problem....I had a XC race this morning! :scared1:

The race went alright for the condition of the course (South Jersey = Sand ). I finished in 36.02 which is quite alright considering I was exhausted to begin with!

Dan That's one fast half marathon! whoa! Good Job!

SamSam I hate humidity too! :(

CaliFlady Congrats on the fall weather! I'd love some of that down here, just maybe not to that extreme cold! :)

Thanks Again, Everyone! :)
