Donald's Defiant Dashers (AKA Triple D's/Duckies/The Ducks) Dashing into 2010

Did you take advantage of the free passes to Colonial Williamsburg on Veteran's Day Weekend?

We did the free passes on the 4th of July. It was sooooo hot. Have you been to downtown Williamsburg? They have the best candy shop. We spend more time at Busch Gardens than anywhere else.

Since I am new to this whole Dis thing. How do you get the pics and Donald line at the bottom of your posts?

First you'll need to upload the images you want to use onto a host site, I use Photobucket. It's a popular one for that purpose.

Then you'll need to go to your User CP here on the DIS, then to Edit Signature, and you will copy/paste the links to your images from Photobucket into there.

Here is the thread with the user bars, I got my particular ones on page 2:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2076963

In that thread is a link to a website where you can animate them (put more than one on the bar and have them change).

If you need more specifics than that let me or anyone here know. :)

Okay, I’m back…in more ways than one.

I’m back in Edmonton after my week-long solo trip to WDW. It was an AWESOME trip! I thawed out and got to do and see just about everything I wanted to in the World. I met up with a fellow DIS’er once and met lots of other new people along the way. I’m going back in late September for a two-week trip (which hopefully will include the W&D ½ Marathon!), so I was okay in leaving at the end of this trip (snif). I got in one 3.5 mile run while I was in Florida. Not great, but what with all the walking you do down there, it wasn’t unexpected.

I’m also back to my running. I’ve been keeping up with the Ducks thread here for the past week, mostly lurking. But I haven’t posted because ever since I got back from WDW, I haven’t run. Until today. I finally got motivated enough to head back down to the treadmill today (it’s waaay too cold up here to do any running outside for a few more months). I got a 4 mile run in for the first time in over two weeks. It felt good to get back at it! My knees are a little tender, but I hope that’ll remedy itself overnight. That trip to WDW just really knocked the socks off my routine. Hopefully, I’ll have a good running week and start to prepare for my upcoming 10K in Calgary.

I’ve really enjoyed reading other’s surveys, so here’s my “official” survey answers. Liz – if you would be so kind as to update the first few posts with my info here :) – and thanks for “keeping track of us”!

Real Name: Renee
Age: 46 (will be 47 in late March…)
Location: Edmonton, Alberta, Canada…I’m American…I just work overseas and abroad, so I end up in lots of different locations.
Family Stats: Single, no pets.
Meaning of DIS Name: Lived in California when I joined the Dis…doesn’t make a lot of sense anymore. My tag from the Tag Fairy was given to me when I lived in Yokohama, Japan. Yes, my logistics are all very confusing.
Disney Races: No Disney races to date, but two full Houston marathons in the 90’s. Definitely signing up for Mickey’s Halloween Family Fun Run 5K on 2 October, and have great hopes of signing up for the Wine and Dine ½ Marathon later that night. I’m holding out on registering until I know my knees can take 8-10 mile runs.
Upcoming Races: Signed up for the Calgary 10K Race on 31 May 2010 in Calgary, AB. I’m running this to get a decent corralling time for the W&D ½ Marathon!
Hobbies/Interests: Disney, running, missionary work.
Want to Know More About: speed and interval training
Favorite Disney Park: It used to be EPCOT, but then I went and traveled or lived in all of the EPCOT countries but Moracco, so the “coolness” of WS was gone. I’ve fallen back in love in the Magic Kingdom.
Disney Dining: I was at WDW just last week, and I think my favorite dining was found at the MK Confectionary. I couldn’t stop eating the chocolate dipped rice crispy Mickey Mouse heads! Not good, I know. But I do know that everyone here understands my addiction, right?
Coolest Things You Ever Did: Snorkeled the Great Barrier Reef, rode the Trans-Siberian Railway across most of Russia, climbed Mount Fuji.

That's probably enough for tonight. I promise to get and keep plugged in more later this week.

Yeah - too hot for me in July! It was almost too hot in November. ;) No, haven't really been to much except Colonial Williamsburg. I did go to Busch Gardens years and years ago. We plan on getting the free tickets this year once my husband gets home.

Welcome back Renee! :goodvibes

My kids really enjoy Busch Gardens, plus we only live like 15 minutes away. They have a really good rate for a military season pass also.

Just did W4D1 of C25K and it went pretty well. I was able to make it through the first two run intervals for a total of 8 minutes with only a 90 second walk break in between. The last two run intervals I had to cut short, but I'm happy with that for today.

Total distance was 1.85 miles.

Good job...Keep it up!!!

Woohoo! 8 of us are doing the IWISH race now. :shamrock:

Renee~ Welcome back! :) Sounds like you had a great trip. Yes I understand the temptation of the Mickey head rice crispy treats! mmmm :goodvibes
You'll get back into the swing of things running-wise!
I've got your info added to the race list. And to the roster which I'm sure Tricia will copy/paste when she has a chance.

Carissa~ Great job!! :yay:

i have officially registered for "the donald." no excuses!

i missed my run last night. just haven't felt like myself. i had a horrible migraine on saturday that dulled to a headache on sunday and monday. i'm hoping to get out tonight. even if i have to cut my run shorter than normal, i NEED to get out tonight.

Thanks Liz on the review for the Segway tour, I think we will be doing that in May, I want that pin!:cool1:

Sally I hope I can get up to doing a casual 1/2 marathon, that's awsome.

The bases I was stationed at was, Lackland AFB, TX (like everyone), Lowery AFB, CO (yes it is closed now), Plattsburg AFB, NY (for school, closed now), RAF Upper Heyford, near Oxford England (closed, I'm detecting a pattern here), McClellan AFB in Sacramento, CA (closed), while in California I had the opportunity to deploy to Myrtle Beach AFB (closed) to modify A-10's, RAF Lakenheath (3 times, still open!), Nellis AFB in Las Vegas, Cannon AFB, for school and some time in Saudi Arabia for Desert Shield/Storm. My last place was Moody AFB in southern GA. That was nice because we were only 4 hours from WDW, so we visited that a few times.

I fly out to Las Vegas tomorrow morning for our National Meeting, I will try to get some running in there. Have a good week everyone.

Joe

LoL..I see an interesting trend in your assignments. Somehow I don't think that you got out of the Air Force, but the individual states didn't want you to show up anymore in fear that the base would close :rotfl2: What base were you at in Saudi? I did Al Kharj in '93.

:cool1: Glad to have another one registered for the Donald! :thumbsup2

I feel your pain. I get migraines too. Thankfully, I haven't had one on a run day yet.

Good afternoon Ducks, and :welcome: to our new teammates!

I've been a little behind the power curve lately. No LR on Sunday, but out for 2 miles yesterday.

Trying to decide which race to sign up for in January. It will probably be the 5K and the 1/2.

Looks as though everyone is doing well. Keep up the great work!

Y'all take care.

:thumbsup2

I keep meaning to mention that my brother-in-law lives in Niceville. He's retired air force. I've been down there once many years ago. Nice area.

It does look like I was the Grimm Reaper for bases. I worked on the avionics systems for F-111's and they were getting phased out at the time. I was King Fahad AB in Taif, southern part of Saudi Arabia. (a little slice of paradise:scared1:)

You guys are great! 10 of us are doing the IWISH race now..almost 50% of our team.

Emily~ Yay for registering for the half! And for the 10K on 3/27! You're going to do great. I know you weren't feeling well, sorry it's still taking a toll on you. Were you able to get out last night?

Joe~ Have a good trip to LV!
Here's the Segway pin they gave me, the guy slides side to side:

More info. here on it:

I don't know if they still have them, hope they do!

Vic~ I thought you had already decided on the half? That would be fun to do the 5K too.
