Donald's Defiant Dashers (AKA Triple D's/Duckies/The Ducks) Dashing into 2010

Carissa- I wish I had a better excuse..I have a very good quality TM in my dining room - just have been worn out from the snow! I'll be on it today. As for the weight loss- I've been following a weight loss plan with my doctor. (Thanks, I still have 70+ to go, but it's been a great boost with running combined) I started both within 2 weeks of the other...

Good luck on your Virtual 5k today- you're doing great sticking with the C25k -it's how many people start..it's a great program.

I'm losing weight slow and steady. I've really tried to be more aware with my calories, which I never have before. I always thought as long as I was eating healthy I'd be okay. Now I realize I really need to keep an eye on the calories. I'm looking forward to having less weight to carry around!

I'm done with my Virtual Vday 5K! Time: 34:10. Which I am actually quite happy with considering I've only run twice since the Disney Half! :)

I'll catch up on posts later...But...

Happy Valentine's Day Ducks! :flower3:

WTG girl! :cool1:

I just finished my 5K and am sitting here extremely sweaty! :rolleyes1

Before today, my longest distance was barely 2 miles so running 3.1 was a big stretch for me. The most total running time I'd had during a workout was 9 minutes (if you add up all of my intervals) and I'm pretty sure I doubled that today. :scared1: It does give me confidence that I can move on to the next week of C25K without any problems. :thumbsup2

I did include my warm up in my 5K time because I knew I couldn't maintain a 1:1 ratio throughout the entire distance. The first mile was great. Lots of energy and feeling good. The second mile was the hardest. I started feeling tired from probably going too hard in the first mile. The third mile wasn't too bad because I slowed my pace a little and knew I was almost done. I even revved it up for the final couple of minutes. I was excited and surprised that I was able to continue with the run intervals until the very end. I did have to add in a few extra walks, but I'm really happy with how I did. :goodvibes

So............

My time was 48:32. I'm pretty happy with that.

Has anyone done the WDW Goofy? I am considering this challenge and as my wife says when I do something I do it 110%, sometimes to my detriment.

If you have not done it, do you know of anyone who has and how bad it hurt them?

I think this would be the test of all running tests if I could do it, but am just throwing around the idea right now.

Looking for pros and cons.

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone!

I did my "casual" half marathon today in perfect conditions for mid-February. To my surprise, I ended up running my fastest half ever. That's it, I am never training for a race again! Okay, just kidding.... I was all set to train for a PB in a May race, now the bar is set higher.

Congratuations to all of you virtual racers and those who got out and got it done today.

I'm headed to the sofa to watch the Olympics.:cheer2:

Congrats on your fastest half ever! :cheer2:

That's exactly what I've been doing this afternoon (sitting on the couch watching the Olympics). :thumbsup2

Tim~ Here's another way you could search for a marathon to do: http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/1/1_1/index.shtml

Dan~ Congrats on your 14K! :) 42 out of 134, woohoo!! That's cute that it was a 14K for vday weekend. How many miles is that anyway?
Tricia did the Goofy and is doing it again next year, maybe she can help you decide on that.

Joe~ I LOVED the Epcot Segway tour. I did it in January 2008. It was cold and windy that day so I was wishing I had dressed warmer. But despite that, it was one of the most fun things I'd ever done. We did the training inside Innoventions and then followed the CM's around the World Showcase. They took us out to an open area and let us have free time for a bit, then we went back to Innoventions, total 2 hours. They limit the speed that the segways can go, so if you're a lead foot like I am that'll get to ya sometimes. At the end they gave each of us a pin, a nice momento (I hope they still do that). I highly recommend it! I want to try out the Fort Wilderness one next.

Emily~ I'm sorry you're sick, get well soon!!! You'll catch up to your goal.

Carissa~ Congrats again on your first 5K! You did sooooo great!! :)

Sally~ Congrats on your speedy half!! :)
I still need to finish watching the Olympic opening ceremonies. I dvr'd it and dh and I have been watching it each night, we keep falling asleep though. lol

Hello Duckies, and Happy Valentines Day! I did the WISH virtual race today, as I have not run since the half I opted for the 5K. I never had any pain in the foot, and am glad for that. My time for the 5K was 33:11, a bit off of my normal 5K times, but I think I always run slower by myself, and I was always thinking of the foot.

Sally, congrats on the half.

Liz, thanks for doing the race list, I will have to get some dates on there. Do bike races count?

Have a good week, everyone!

Augie

DH and I have done both tours and loved both of them. We felt both tours were well worth doing and will probably do each of them again. The Fort Wilderness one is really a totally different experience, using a different Segway (more off-road capable), we went through some sand, etc. which made for a little more challenging experience.
Both are very fun and worth doing IMHO.

Good morning Ducks!

I have an idea for the next WISH virtual race. I may just go ahead and post the thread today so stay tuned... :shamrock:

Augie~ Great time on the virtual 5K!
I'd be happy to put bike races on the list too. :)

Sharon~ That Ft. W tour sounds great!

Sorry, I haven't been on in a few days. Just got back from Great Wolf Lodge in Williamsburg! Super fun - kids loved it! I thought of you, Carissa, when I passed the naval base on the way. I'll catch up later - on the run (not literally, though) right now!

Which one?? :rotfl: So many bases out this way.

We'd love to go to Great Wolf Lodge at some point! The boys saw it advertised and it's been mentioned many times. Glad to hear you had a good time. :thumbsup2

I'm actually looking forward to my "run" tomorrow! That seems so crazy to me. I find I prefer running on the treadmill over walking. The run/walk intervals make the time pass so quickly. Tomorrow I'm supposed to run for two 5 minute intervals - wish me luck!

We have been here for a year and have been meaning to get over to the Lodge as well, but still have not made it. It looks like so much fun. Kind of reminds us of the wilderness lodge down in WDW when we drive by it.
