Hey Karen! I'm just about ready for the Princess Half, too. Getting really excited to get down there and seeing my sister and niece who will also be running with me. My sister is spending this weekend sewing our Fairy God Mother costumes. I'll be (blue) Meriweather. My sis and niece will be Flora and Fauna. Obviously, I haven't seen the final product, but know that it won't be too cumbersome, because my sis is gonna have to run in it, too! :lmao: She's sewing skirts and little capes. She's already made the hats and we'll wear wings and carry wands. I know...it'll be a very slow half marathon.:thumbsup2

So I ran the 2012 WDW Half in early January, then spent a week playing in the parks. The day I got back to the office, I found out I was due to work out of town. For the next month! So I've been working about 150 miles from Houston on a mega-project, living in a hotel and out of a suitcase for the past 5 weeks. I made it home one weekend. I found a decent 4 mile path to run near the hotel during the week in the early mornings.

I will totally be looking for you guys!!

I am staying at BLT and am sharing a taxi to the Polli and getting on the buses with everyone to the race.
I have friends I am staying with but I am alone in running this race this time.

I can't wait!!
:cheer2:

Hello Ducks!

Good luck to every running the Princess. Have a great time! (get it...great time...:rotfl2:) Sorry, that's about as funny as I can be on a Wednesday.

I'm a week post surgery and feeling pretty good. Stiches come out today and I'm going start walking tomorrow! With any luck I'll be running again in a few weeks.

We got our bibs in for the New Orleans Crescent City Classic on Tuesday. It's a 10K through the French Quarter. DH and I got a room in the Quarter for the night before and are going to have a romantic date night sans kids! Now we just have to pick a resturant and aviod drinking too many Hurricanes at Pat O's. It's shaping up to be a great weekend!

Hey Ducks! Well I am coming up on six weeks of no running...I was good and didn't run a step just like the Dr. told me. My foot is exactly the same as it was before. I'm not going back to the Dr. though...at least not yet. But I think it's pretty clear that whatever "it" is has nothing to do with running! And so I shall start running again next week. :thumbsup2

And now to go back to Feb 7th and catch up on posts....

Moira~I really don't know if the shoes I was wearing caused my Achilles tear. They could have contributed, who knows. But since they were inexpensive shoes that I was not fitted for it wasn't a hard choice to stop running in them and buy better ones.

Tanya~Yay for 2160's! I can't wait to start using mine! I guess I have some more time on my current shoes though..need to count up how many miles are on them.
How is your daughter doing? I'm sorry she ended up in a cast! I guess she is out of it now though?

Jeni~I'm sorry I wasn't on here to wish you well before your surgery. I'm glad it went well and you are feeling good this week!
Sounds like you have a fun trip planned with your dh!

Vic~How's the knee doing this week?

Karen~I'll be interested to hear your report on Leap Day in MK!

Tim~Hope you're having fun on your trip!

Renee~You and your training run adventures...lol
I can't wait to see pics of you and your relatives costumes!
No advice on the race driving...I'm sure it'll be fine!

Everyone else~How are you?

Karen and Renee~GOOD LUCK Princesses!!!princess:princess:

Hiya everyone.
Well I finally got back to the gym and C25K. I am back at week 3 with 1.5 and 2 minute runs. Plucked up the nerve to go to a specialist shop and they said the shoes I have are ok but that I should come back when I'm regularly running 5k and they would check again:thumbsup2
This is good because I can use the money I'd saved (my wee reward system for losing weight) to buy trousers that dont fall down (or at least they would if I wasn't hoisting them up again every 5seconds:rotfl:) as I run:scared1: Not pretty for anyone at the gym:rotfl2:
Hope your foot heals soon Liz. Thanks for all the wise words:)

Well, my daughter's doing OK, thanks for asking! The cast came off on Monday, and now she's in an aircast for another 2 weeks. She says it doesn't hurt anymore but she'll still wince about it every once in awhile. March 6 she can get back to gymnastics, so we shall see!

Meanwhile, I've really slacked off! In addition to her foot troubles, everyone in our family took their turn with a stomach bug for about 2 weeks or so. Ewwww! So I'm finally getting back to working out again this week. :thumbsup2

BTW, I decided to join daily mile mostly because I'm curious how many miles I run/walk per year. Anyone else there?! :) I think you're supposed to tell others your name and state? OK, well, I'm Tanya M. from WI. See ya there!

I'd like to be back as a proud Duck this year! So far, I've only got the following races that I'm definitely doing:

Albany Half Marathon-March 3rd
WDW Marathon 2013

I'm certain I'll do a few other halfs while prepping for WDW marathon weekend (that will be my first full marathon) and I know I'll do a few local 5k's and possibly a few 10k's as well.

Good luck to all the runners in the Princess! Have been up in VT all week, tried my hand at XC skiing, and that did not so go to well. But snowshoeing is a great workout. Will be nice to be back home soon and back on two wheels.

Have a great weekend (and race!)

Good evening Ducks!

Good luck to all of the racers this weekend. Be safe!

Hope everyone is doing well. Still working the knee issue, but I've been so busy...

Y'all take care.

:cool2:

Off to WDW this afternoon to sweat like a Princess! Actually, that's an oxymoron, right? Princesses don't sweat. ;) And in my book? Princesses are STILL sissies!

So my sister calls me this week while I'm in the middle of a meeting. She usually texts me, so I think this must be urgent. I get up and leave the meeting to find out that - horror of horrors - she can't logistically figure out how we'll wear little capes AND wings! :scared1: Even if we cut slits in the capes for the wing strings to fit through, the capes will still end up wrapped around our necks. So we've bagged the capes. :sad2: But we still have the hats, wings, skirts, matching tank tops, and wands. We're gold. :woohoo: And the meeting? I just walked back in, shaking my head, looking worried at my phone. They all bought it.

I'm sure we'll take lots of photos, but I've never posted pics here on the DIS, so you might see some over on FB, if at all.

Hope everyone has a GREAT weekend and a super leap day! TTFN!

Sounds like a good plan. Keep up the great C25K work, you can do it!!

Sorry about the stomach bug...yay for getting back to it.
I have an account on Daily Mile but I stopped using it last year. I'll try to hook up with you on there though. What you REALLY NEED TO DO ASAP is join FACEBOOK!!! ::yes::

I find it hard to believe you didn't do well with something physical Augie...hmmm

Good evening Ducks!

Now that you've done the Princess, and have seen all the awesome, strong Princesses around you, do you still think they are sissies??? ;)

Joe and all...did you hear that there isn't the Relay for Wine and Dine this year?? Is that true? With the rumor of them not doing the Marathon Relay in January I wonder if they are doing away with relays?

I haven't been to the rundisney site since this went up, but the WnD group page on Facebook has been lit up with this.
I'm trying to not think about Disney races until May when I know I can get into Aluani for Christmas.
Tanya: I agree with Liz, you need to get on Facebook, it's what all the cool kids are doing.
I'm on dailymile also, but I usually don't update my runs if I use my phone to track a run.
Vic: Hopefully the knee cooperates soon.:hippie: Do you wear a knee brace? I've wore one that wraps just below the knee cap when I was having problems and it seemed to help.
Moira: nice job on the continuing success with C2K.

Great job to our Princess and Fairy Ducks on the half marathon today.:banana:

It was a nice day today and I managed to get out and do a 5 mile run, it felt pretty good. I ran 2 miles on Monday, but wasn't feeling it and I did a 70 workout with Bob Harper that kicked my butt. I'm hoping for a couple runs this week after work as long as the weather holds out.:good vibes

Luna update: she is doing really good now, pretty much house trained now and she is getting along with Mushu. She has her final next week at doggy school, so we have to work on her commands to prepare.

Have a good week everyone!

Joe

Hey Brandon, welcome back! Why don't you join those of us going Goofy next year?? :thumbsup2

I think I'll focus on just the full next year. Maybe Goofy in 2014! I am; however super pumped about my first half this weekend. The distance doesn't bother me. I've been running 12-13 miles every weekend for a few months now. It's getting my times where I need to be. I'm shooting for a sub 2 hour half. Just gotta' make sure I don't start out too fast and then tire out later in the race.

Hi Everyone,

I feel badly that I haven't been on here chatting very much but I've been knocked down with a nasty respiratory virus since Jan 27th! It just won't go away despite 2 rounds of antibiotics and multiple inhalers. Seems like everyone in my neck of the woods (a.k.a. New Jersey) has it and the adults seem to get it worse than the kids. I keep hearing 4-6 weeks so I should almost be done. Ugh. Anyhow I am so sick and tired of being sick and tired so I walk/ran a few miles on the treadmill over the weekend so hopefully I am on my way to recovery!

Tanya - Did you join Daily Mile? Do you like it? I see my FaceBook Friends post Daily Mile runs on FB. I was thinking about joining something like that to keep up my motivation.

Renee and Karen - How was the Princess? A friend of mine ran it and said it was fun but very crowded.

Augie - Were you up at Trapp? Loved the skiing and snowshoeing there over the holidays. We stayed @ Trapp Family Lodge and plan to go up again this year for the holidays.

Seriously thinking about doing the Wine & Dine Half! :yay:

Hope everyone is recovering well from fractures, illnesses, surgeries, etc. No more LAME DUCKS this year! And that includes me! :rotfl2:

Take Care...

Hi Duckies! How did all the Princesses do?

Robyn, yes, was at Trapp, went with a friend who has two weeks in the summer but traded one for Presidents week. Second time in Stowe area, first time at Trapp. Had a hard time with the XC skis, but snowshoed up to cabin twice. Good workout and great chili! (the reason we went twice). Might be back in summer where I plan to bike over to Smugglers.

Almost March, have to get ready for some St Patricks runs!

Hi Everyone,
I'm so sorry I've been MIA lately...more on that later.

Karen & Renee: How was the race? Renee, LOVED your costumes!

Liz: Hope your return to running will be soon & awesome! How's Ravi like his new job?

Vic: Did you ever hear anything about your knee?

Brandon: I second Liz's suggestion...do the GOOFY 2013!

Tanya: Another vote for joining Facebook. I'm Karin Richards from Glassboro, NJ (pic of me & Capt. Jack Sparrow & Barbosa)

I've been just doing a few piddly runs (about 4 miles 1-2x's a week). Ready for spring to come! :flower3:
My husband Bryan tore his quadricep tendon but while getting pre-op tests they think they found a blockage in his heart so surgery is off for now & we go for a cardiac catheterization tomorrow. :sad2:

So after 6 weeks off I started running again yesterday. Just a 2 miler on the tm. Going to stick to 2 milers this week and maybe next. Got to ease back into it...and honestly yesterday's 2 miles wasn't easy anyway!

I just read a post on another thread that someone emailed runDisney asking about the Chip & Dale Relay for next year and was told that as of now there are no relays (W&D and C&D). Wow, it'll be wild if C&D really was a one time thing! I'm so glad I got the medal but I feel badly for those who were planning to do it in the future.

Also, on the Princess threads I've been reading about walking to the Start area from POFQ and how it sounds very easy, and WAY faster than taking a bus (which means not having to wake up as early). I'm thinking POFQ might be the place to stay for races that begin at Epcot! And as of now that's what I plan to do for Marathon Weekend! Anyone else think that's a great idea?? We could walk to the Start together...

Joe~Keep up the great running!

Brandon~I hope you're able to meet your goal for this first half! :wizard:

Robyn~I'm sorry about the long illness! I hope you are coming to the end of it. I have had winters where I know exactly what you mean by being "sick and tired of being sick and tired". So hard!
It's great you're thinking about Wine & Dine! Consider Marathon weekend too! :)

Augie~You gonna do some St. Patrick's Day runs for green beer?

Karin~Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear about Bryan! :( I'll be thinking of you guys tomorrow..keep us posted!!
Ravi is enjoying his job...it's keeping him very busy and that is good..it's good to be needed. Tx for asking!

Good evening everyone,

I was busy tonight, I signed up for 3 races.
Shamrocks and Shenanigans 5k on March 11th.
ShamRock N Roll Run 10k on March 17th.
and the Martian Invasion of Races half marathon on April 14.
http://martianmarathon.com/
This is a race I've wanted to do since I started running. Since I won't be taking as many trips to Disney like I did last year, :sad2: I'm going to do more running events.
I ran 3 miles after work and I set out to do it in a 5k race pace and I managed to do 3.1 miles in 27:51. I'm going to try to do that more often.

Karin: I'll be thinking of you and Bryan tomorrow.

Liz: how did the foot feel on your run?

Have a great week! Ducks.

Joe

Liz - I read the same posts and wondered the same things. I can't believe they would only run the Chip and Dale 1 year! That seems crazy. And I had already decided on POFQ for my Goofy stay (I nixed the BW and BC thoughts due to the cost. bummer) before I ran across the thread regarding walking to the start..... Hmmm.... I'm game!!

Karin - I hope all goes well for your husband. We're thinking about you guys!

Joe - great motivation by signing up for races. Maybe I should toughen up and do that too! ;) I just hate running in the cold, but when there's a race in the near future, it's excellent reason for running more!

All the cool kids are on FB, I know. I guess I haven't reached that level of coolness yet.
